uploading a new signature picture in your preferences automatically replaces the existing one NH Camper. If it were not accepted, there would be an error message explaining the problem.
Of course you have to go to the bottom of the page and click on Submit Changes for it to take effect.

I'm getting the red 'x' problem as well, my pic has been resized to the requisite file size and is no more than 100 pixels tall -- anyone willing to help me get my pic online?
Thanks in advance!
P.S. Pulsar, your offer to help was from 2001 -- I no longer see a PM option on your account -- did you get tired of helping newbies? (I Understand!)

Where in my "account" are you looking?
If you click on my name (or any member's name) to the left of a post, a menu is displayed similar to

The second link is Send Private Message
Alternately, if you click on the View Profile link, you will be taken to my (the member's) profile page, which also has a send private message link.
If those links are not present when you click on my username or go to my profile page, I need to know that.
Now, the red x. Here is a copy of a post that I have, unfortunately, had to make a few times.
Once the server has accepted your upload, that is all you can do. The red x is not a fault of anything you have done.
After an upload to a signature, some members have to wait a day or so before the picture will show, some have it show instantly, for some, the picture has disappeared after having shown for a few years.
It is all very frustrating, but to repeat, once the server has accepted you upload, there is nothing you can do ... except, I have a question in my own mind, does it matter which portal one enters?
I am sorry for the problem getting your picture to show; their is a long time "trouble ticket" for this problem. As of yet, there has been no cure.
I am sure the technicians will get the problem corrected; but I can't tell you when.

Could ya tell them how important I am and that I'm getting irritated and to hurry up and get it fixed
I've been trying to get my sig pic to change but it just keeps displaying the same ole picture and if I change the name of the file then I get the stupid red x.

Dear Pulsar....
"Where in my "account" are you looking?"
I did just as you summarized in your post -- I went to your 'profile' and hit the 'send pm', it let me type a nice long message to you, only to then tell me that you no longer accept PM's once I hit send...
Pic is still a red 'x'...

Here is a snapshot of my preference settings.

As you can see, the setting is to "Allow all members to send me private messages."
To the right of the recipient's name on the Compose Message window, there is a link that allows you to check whether or not you can send that member a private message.

What happens if you type pulsar in the recipient field and click on the Check recipient PM statu link?
As far as the red x, I can't say anything more than I did in my previous response.

I guess this is a moot point anyway, since the reason I was pm'ing you was to get help with pic.
I will, just for kicks, try to pm you a test message from my work computer now to see if it will go through...
