Today the doctor confirmed the miracle to my right eye. I no longer need glasses for my far vision. He told me I could stop wearing glasses and just wear reading glasses if I wanted. He also said he has never seen anything like this in his life. I have been wearing glasses since I was ten years old and now I am free of them. Sue says she will not get used to seeing me without them. Being I will still need help reading I think I will have some made with bifocals and the upper part without prescription or clear glass. By the way, I am taking less insulin lately and my blood sugar levels have been very good. My A1-C is the best It has been in years.

After a good nights rest I have to take the camper to Camping World to have the gate valve repaired for the black water tank. I have tried everything I know to repair the valve and nothing worked, I guess the repairman will have to take the underbelly off and remove the line to get to the valve, too much for me to do right now with my bad shoulder.

Do I understand Waynesboro is getting a nuclear power plant? Wow! Once all that money starts coming into the area its got to be good for charitable donations. That could be great in the long term for OFBCAR.

The existing nuclear plant is being added on to. This is a great boost to the economy and many dollars added to the County tax budget. It means millions and millions of dollars for the county. We knew this was coming years ago and the county was counting on this money for adding on to the budget. Sorry to say this won't mean a thing for the Old Fella rescue effort as this money has already been spent. The county hasn't raised taxes for years and has let many things become worn out and in bad need of repair or replacement. The highway department is in need of trucks, grading equipment and roads need to be repaired or resurfaced. It has been a sad state of affairs the way things have been run allowing such thngs to happen all in the name of "look at what we have done for you by not raising taxes."

Pay me now or pay me later has always been a method that will eventually kick you in the behind. When you let things get in such a sad state that it needs major overhauling is not the way to go, but my words were spoken in vain when I attended the meetings.

I was thinking in terms of more money around for private donations.

I hope you are right in that respect. When the first power plant was built back in the late 70's and early 80's most of the money went to County Government. The workers mostly lived in travel trailers in make shift campgounds. The people who bought homes did so in neighboring Richmond County and that is where they spent the money they made. Those who lived at the campgrounds sent their money to their families back home, wherever that was. Burke County has little to offer or appeal to anyone who may want to buy a home because of the poor market that exists there. It took us seven years to sale our home in Waynesboro and there are others who have had their homes for sale longer than that. Burke County is poor with a large number of people living off of Government hand outs. The school system is one that is subject to debate and is not one that would attract people who would want their children to get a good education compare to the school system in neighboring Richmond County or Columbia County.

When we tried to seek donations from the private sector we were limited to a small population that actually had extra income. The business sector was also limited as they were struggling to keep the doors open. I hope and pray that this new construction going on in Burke County will bring new prosperity to the area.

Good morning. It is the start of another day. It is very cloudy outside and cold. The weather man says it is going to be very cold here Sunday. It will be a good day to stay indoors and throw another log on the fire.

Yesterday the postman put our neighbors mail in our box and put our mail in the neighbors box. It is s good thing our mail is clean!

I hope you have a blessed day and all of your fur kids are well.

Nope. His was clean also. Like me he is a retired Baptist preacher. We just happen to have three ministers living in this samll coummity of six houses.
