Oh cool, another bug shooter.

In the summer, I run a thread on dpreview.com called the Weekly Closeup. People come in to show off their shots just like yours.

JiminDenver: Great macroshots! I wish I had a camera of that caliber. =) Jumping spiders are my absolute favorite spider! They look like little old men. What is the second one and the last one?
As far as I could tell it was 1) jumping spider 2) no idea 3)Praying mantis 4)Some kind of wasp 5) a different type of jumping spider? 6) no idea~
Are you on facebook too and have some more of your pics posted there?

The detail in your pics are absolutely amazing!

Thank you, I am glad you appreciate them. Not too many people do.

The first is a face shot of a jumper, the whole spider was 1/4 inch around.

The second is a butterfly

the third is a freshly hatched mantis nymph

you are right the next is a wasp

the yellow spider is a crab spider

the last one is a close up of the face of a female common darter dragonfly.

It really doesn't take a great camera to do shots like this. In fact most point and shoot cameras are great at macro with their smaller sensors and large depth of field. Adding a cheap close up filter like a Raynox 150 can really bring the small into view.

I am on facebook but don't post many pics there. Ill send you a PM with links to my photobucket accounts so I don't bore these good people too much. Like I said , I host a thread about macro so I have a few thousand macro shots on line. We also travel all over to shoot wildlife including the Galapagos Islands.

Hmmm, Maybe that's the MIL
