RE: Pittsburgh to Rapid City

Stayed one night at Rushmore KOA this summer. It is the biggest KOA we have ever stayed at. Lots to do for kids and adults. Very nice.

RE: My Favorite KOA

Rushmore KOA for the great activities but our favorite is Winthrop Washington. Love the tubing in the Methow River and the owners are very nice and friendly. They go out of their way to make your stay fun and enjoyable.

RE: I'm chomping at the bit to get going on three week trip

The trip was a success and a lot of fun!! Fridge worked fine after we replaced the thermistor. I only got about 8-11MPG depending on wind and mountains but my wife says its still worth it having our own bed. I can't wait to go again. Put on a little over 5000 miles.

You are correct, it was highway 12 I meant. I love that drive, it is beautiful. We will be staying with family in Minnesota and Michigan with the exeption, of a few nights at McClain's Park in the UP. We will use the fridge, thanks for the input.

RE: What do you do when you camp?

Hike, tube, swim, bike, eat, relax, read. Kids like to stay busy and as we like to stay at KOA's, they hit the store a few times a day.

Yes we have a GPS and also an Iphone app called "Allstays Camp and RV" so should be good. I was just wondering if room everywhere in summer but I think we will be OK. I haven't gone on a long roadtrip for years and never with a TT so should be fun!

I have a Dometic fridge that has a recall I think and just didn't want to take a chance with it as I didn't get a chance to bring it in.

RE: I'm chomping at the bit to get going on three week trip

Oh, also we will not run our fridge on the road, so most likely will buy meat etc. when getting to our days destination. How about other perishables, do you just put blue ice pack in fridge and freezer? We are used to camping in one place so have not had this issue before.

I'm chomping at the bit to get going on three week trip

Going from Western Washington to Michigan by way of Kalispell, MT, Yellowstone, Cody, WY and Black Hills SD. I haven't drove this in years and not pulling a trailer. I hope it all works out. We are going drive maybe 6-8 hours a day and take our time. Highway 12 throught Bighorns out of Cody is pretty twisty pulling trailer but I think that drive is one of the prettiest I have seen. I have made a couple of reservations but may just stop at some campgrounds when we want to stop. Think this will be an issue?
