I'll have to second what RoyB is saying. In my Niagra, I pack the boxes and put them on a blanket on the floor and blankets and other stuff on the couch and benches. Then fold it up. Everything is inside, out of the weather and the hot sun for traveling. By the way, for the trip home, empty coolers work well for storage also.
I also don't like the idea of things on the roof. Even with something under it, I would be worried the entire trip...always watching it.
