RE: Winegard Debuts New Omnidirectional Antenna

The digital signal do not have the range that the old analogs did. I was told 50-55 miles is about as far as they will reach. When we stay at Treasure Lake in Branson, we cannot get but 1 or 2 Springfield stations and it is only 40 miles from Branson. When it was analog, we could get all the stations from Springfield. We live 75 miles from Joplin and have an outdoor antenna with a booster and a motor to turn it. We use to get all the Joplin stations, now we can only get 1 of them. We use to get all the networks from Tulsa (75 or 80 miles) and now only get NBC. I forgot to mention, we live on a hill in the country with a very good line of sight. I do not like the new digital age.thing is that lots of those stations went from VHF to UHF which cuts down the effective range of the station.

RE: 2012 ford focus

TOWDADDY Has harnesses, I didn't check but they may have one for the Focus. How do you like your Focus? My son got one in Dec. and really likes it.On my 2009 Focus, that wiring harness is one piece all the way from the front to the back lights. I was hoping the same thing. I ended up putting stop, turn, tail leds on the back shelf, which I set up like trailer lights wired from the front of the toad.. Would still like something tied in with the regular tail lights, but will need diodes.

RE: Broken Leg

In my younger days, working in the ER of a local hospital, I was able to watch the "repair" of a broken femur. WOW. Young guy on a snow tube hit a tree. It was an amazing operation. Did they put a rod thru the center of the bone?? This young man was laid on his side. The knee was pulled to align the bone. A long metal rod was hammered (really was, with a metal mallet) into the center of the bone from the hip, up thru the break. Was my first witness to such a major operation. Wish you a speedy recovery. Very major break. Wow. thanks for that visual. I think I'm going to be sick now. OP, you just broke the strongest bone in your body. It takes a long time for it to heal properly and you're going to have to be patient with the process. My youngest son(16) fractured his femur last year and even at his young age, it was months of recovery. I imagine for an adult it might take a long time to fully recover. Hope you can get down to Cocoa Beach soon.I'm sure they have PT down there too. A change of scenery might do you good. That makes my steel plate sound better. Runs from the knee all the way up. Got a piece of my hip in there as a graft. Eat lots of yogurt for the calcium. Do you physical therapy. I was off work for 6 months. That was over 20 years ago. Still have the plate. Doesn't affect much except that leg is a bit shorter. Have to get pant legs altered. And yes, I can feel weather changes, but not able to predict exactly what is coming. I just know that a weather change is coming.

RE: length rules ?

A friend not long ago, 4 miles from his house, 36' F650 fun mover & 36' 3 axle enclosed, ol smoke pulled him, $5500.00 worth of tickets + the big orange out of service sticker. He had CDLs though so it put him in a different class reason it was so bad. Over length, no tag on the front bumper, no fuel stickers, no name on the cab doors, few lights didnt work, no personal insurance card, no log book, no weighted tag, and of all things, smoke told him if any one of the tires didnt have valve stem caps in place, it was an instant $50.00 fine for EACH one missing before he could move the rig. That is what they call "a ticket longer than a witch's dream"!

They have a answer for your every question. Not trying to chase you away, but when you have a bunch of real expert owners available 24/7, I'd sure be taking advantage. RE: Permanently wired shore power line?

I have a little "trap door" that opens up on the bottom of the utility bay. Electric cord and Water line run through that door. Close the door when not in use. But it is not a Georgetown!

RE: Double towing (other states)

"...it's against the law and if you get in an accident, your insurance doesn't have to cover you, even if it's not your fault." Please give an example of this ever having happened. IF your insurance doesn't have to cover you if you do something illegal, what about when you have an accident while illegally speeding?............................................................. Unless it is written in the policy, I just don't believe the Insurance Company can deny coverage if you do something illegal! Please, prove me wrong. "However, under most insurance policies, a person will be ineligible for No-Fault benefits, if: driving while intoxicated or impaired by use of a drug that contributes to the accident. (Effective January 26, 2011, emergency health related services performed in a general hospital or by an ambulance worker outside of a general hospital will be a covered expense under your No-Fault insurance policy and those bills will be paid by the automobile insurance carrier. However, the No-Fault insurer has the right to recover from the intoxicated or impaired driver the full amount of those No-Fault payments made by the automobile insurer for the emergency services provided to the driver if the driver is convicted of driving while intoxicated or impaired through the use of alcohol or drugs.) intentionally causing his or her own injuries; riding an all terrain vehicle (ATV) or a motorcycle as operator or passenger (a pedestrian struck by a motorcycle or ATV is covered); injured while committing a felony; injured while in a vehicle known to be stolen; or an owner of an uninsured vehicle." http://www.dfs.ny.gov/insurance/auto/2011/auto1102.htm They also have a clause about not wearing a seat belt in NYS. But it does not affect the liability part of the law.

RE: Double towing (other states)

Reciprocity agreements only apply to driver's licensing, insurance requirements, and registration requirements, generally speaking. "Vehicles registered outside New York State and operated within this state must conform with the New York State financial responsibility law." http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/nycode/VAT/III/6/311 "(c) In the case of a vehicle lawfully registered in another state, or in both this state and another state, either a policy issued by an authorized insurer, or a policy issued by an unauthorized insurer authorized to transact business in another state if such unauthorized insurer files with the commissioner in form to be approved by him a statement consenting to service of process and declaring its policies shall be deemed to be varied to comply with the requirements of this article; and"....... Insurance coverage must be a minimum of $25,000/50,000 for injury, $50,000/100,000 for death, and $10,000 for property damage caused by any one accident. NYS Department of Financial Services required insurance companies operating in NYS to cover their customers to the requirements of what ever state, or Canadian Provence, they may be operating their vehicle in. You will find that several of the eastern states have this requirement Usually this is only discovered when involved in a motor vehicle accident

RE: wiring in my inverter

Basically because romex is not suitable for this situation. Nor is it capable of carrying the amperage required for an inverter at full load. wny_pat means Romex for the 120v side. That is what I was thinking and how I thought others would take it. Romex on the 120v side. Thanks Chris!

RE: Battery Charger recommendations

I think Jerry is talking about a 1996 National Dolphin Class A. Unless someone one has changed converter/chargers, he is probably boiling his batteries to a quick death. Unless the converter/charger is disconnected, I don't care what you throw at this coach, that converter charger is going to continue to boil the batteries and kill them. Even new batteries. I think that converter/charger has to be addressed and checked out first, unless the coach is never connected to a 110 vac shore power. at a full charging rate of 12.5 I rather doubt hes boiling anythingIf he is not maintaining his batteries, which it appears he isn't, and has a old Magnetek or Parallax single stage charger in the system, I doubt he is doing his batteries any good.

RE: wiring in my inverter

I know just enough about electric to be dangerous, so I will defer if I am wrong. But why not mount the inverter much closer to the battery (not in the battery compartment cause you don't want spark there) and run romex to where ever you want your outlet to be?

RE: Medicare use out of country

My son was had to be hospitalized in Canada and he was billed $70 dollars. That was the total bill. Was that the total bill after insurance paid or the total bill all together, and how long was he hospitalized. I was thinging that it was quite reasonable up there, but not sure. We hear lots of speculation here, but few facts!

RE: Cincinnati, what to see or do?

And the Hofbrau House is the only one licensed outside of Germany. Cincinnati is a big beer drinking town. US HofbrÀuhaus Restaurants, Beer Halls & Beer Gardens. Sounds like all these are licensed by Hofbrauhaus!

I have not been there yet, but I would like to go to Jungle Jim's International Market. It's in Fairfield, just north of Cincinnati. That's on my list too!

RE: fuel cost

Three things: 1. State and local taxes. (self explanatory) 2. Supply and demand. (our highest volume stations always had lowest prices) 3. transportation rates. (the further we got from the refinary, the lower the transportation rates got) not necessarily in that order.

RE: voyager backup camera

The Voyager 70 Backup monitor on my brand new Itaska failed. It lost its vertical hold. The dealer replaced it with a Voyager 78. Who uses a CRT monitor anyway? My coach is brand new. Why did Winneabago install an outdated CRT in the first place? The dealer broke the shroud then got me a replacement only to be broke in the box. Then they poked a hole in the dash. Anyone have a similar experience? Hi jaams, When you say brand new Itasca do you mean an older "new to you" Itasca or an actual brand new 2011 or 2012 Itasca? I have read all of your other posts and if it is an older new to you Itasca then all of the items you mentioned should have been found in your PDI at which time you could have negotiated proper repair before purchase. If it is an actual new Itasca then everything is covered under your 1 year warranty and should be fixed by your local dealer or nearest authorized repair center. It is important to flush out any issues during the warranty period and have them fixed by the dealer. This way if they reoccur at a later time you have recourse. When we got ours last year we found items on the PDI, and on our first two trips. All were repaired with minimal downtime and no cost. Hope this helps you out. Todd To give the OP some credit, he has said it has spent more time in the shop under warranty that he has been able to use it for camping, and they still haven't fixed it. Sounds like he is looking for us to declare it a lemon, which I certainly can't do with him dumping all this at the same time. You kind of have to put his various post under different threads together to make any sense of all this. And when you do that, it looks fishy.
