RE: Millicom speed

I suspect there may be some differences between the Advanced Plan (what we have) and the HotSpot plan (which seems more like the Verizon Mifi program).
They did tell me the Advanced plan is on the Verizon network using their towers and we should see the exact same service.
We ARE NOT seeing the same service as our son on the Verizon Mifi 4510 service just down the street. He brought his to our home and we compared "real time" several times and there was a consistent difference. The Verizon was 2-4 times faster and he is not seeing 4G service.
Here is the quote from Millenicom:
Everywhere that Verizon has mobile broadband service will work with our Standard, Advanced and Hotspot Plans, including the address you list. Our Hotspot Plan allows for 20 gigabytes of data transfer for $69.99/month (Verizon sells the same service for $80 with a 10 gigabyte cap and a $10 per gigabyte overage fee and a 2 year contract ... we have none of that).

RE: Millicom speed

Here are the plan options for Millenicom.
http://www.millenicom.com/page/plans#unlimited_plan
I have an email indicating their Hotspot plan is $69.99/mo for 20GB trying to compete more with Verizon. Verizon is $80.00/mo 10GB but the service appears better from our testing.

RE: Millicom speed

ok, did the test (but dont know how to show it here) maybe bad....Ping=24ms
download 2.90Mbps and upload 0.96. Not sure what that all means....opps I did mean Mbps...I am slower then 65% of the US
Not too bad.
The way to display the results is after the test completes there is a button to "Share Results". Click it, Click copy. This copys the URL of that image to your clipboard.
In one of these post or edit boxes enter:
http://url....png << where this is the url you just copied - but remove the spaces from the the brackets and img. The little image should display.

Please forgive my ignorance...is 1.2meg faster then 54Mmps?That is the speed my u-verse is. Thank you!
Do you really mean 54Megs or Mbps or .54Mbps?
Just ran mine and it was .52Mbps. Terrible! Still a Grade 'F'.

RE: Millicom speed

I have had both recently. We had Verizon 4G Mifi 4510 in a 4G area. It is awesome - 23+ Mbps. However, the best we could do was 10GB for $80.00/month.
Our son lives down the street has Verizon 3G/4G Wifi 4510 and only hits about 1.2-1.6Mbps tops at Speedtest.net.
We are on Millenicom 20GB service which is suppose to use the Verizon 3G hardware and towers but only get about .8-1.2Mbps - terrible! It cost $60.00/month.
We need to find something else but there just isnt much offered here in New Castle, Va 24127.
Millenicom claims their speeds should match Verizon but I can check the speeds within minutes several times and consistently get better results with Verizon than Millenicom both on 3G according to the lights on the Verizon Mifi device.
We need to find another service...but....

RE: Hookups

To your question - yes, 50 and 30 amps are limitations as to how much current your rig will be allowed to draw until the breaker trips.
Yes, home outlets are ok with proper adapters.
I feel that the mention of 240V will raise a flag with anyone whom does not understand how these circuits are wired. It is technically 120/240 1Ph 4 wire system.
30 amps consists of a line, neutral and ground.
50 amp consists of 2 lines, neutral and ground.
The RV industry knows all your AC appliances are 120V and the DC is 12V. The fact that you have 240V available is a result of how the 50 amps is achieved. It should not be a concern as all your appliances should still only see 120V when wired and connected to the pedestal properly.
You can use an adapter to go from 30->50 amps or 50->30 amps without concern.
Do not worry about having 240V available. If your rig is properly wired the potential will never be seen unless intended or someone messes with the standard wiring.

RE: Email problems

We've found folks that get "Hacked" their contact list gets taken and resold to various spammers. Unverified emails go for about $.10 a hundred. Verifed as active can net a spammer as much as $.10 for each contact. Having the account of the "user" for spamming their list just makes it more valuable.
Sell the list a few hundred times and there's real money. Once the contact list has been stolen there's not much you can do to except change emails and notify all your contacts about the change.
Do you have any information to support this statement? Ive been wondering for years.

RE: Email problems

People I don't even know are getting emails from me. Has my email account been hacked? It is a hotmail account on a Mac computer.
If there is no evidence that someone receiving an email under your name that anyone has hacked your email account you dont need to worry. They will pass. There are too many programs that allow 'spoofing' of the 'From' address and sending to lots of recipients.
If you are also getting 'sent' emails under your name in a sent folder then that is a different problem and you need to fix it. That suggests someone is actively using your account.

RE: Cardinal vs Blue Ridge vs Cedar Creek

Ask a dealer that carries either model. Personally I believe the Cedar Creek is the upper line of the 3. The Day Dreamer and CC come from the same mold.
Ask a dealer as if you were interested in upgrading. See which they support.

RE: Windows Professional Question

An easy to handle this might be to copy the file you want to open and rename it TrialFile.zip. Then Windows would see it as the association with PKUnzip and may possibly handle properly. Do the copy and rename - the right click select Extract or similar.

RE: Windows Professional Question

Some PDF files cannot be edited without the appropriate Adobe software. They do this for a reason - to sell more Adobe stuff.
Maybe what you have is what you need - good luck.

If you are trying to display 2 or more images and add spaces between the images, the forum software does not support multiple spaces. It will automatically truncate down to 1 space.

RE: Verizon 4g MIFI?????

Our son has signed up for Verizon 4510 3G/4G Mifi service in New Castle, Va. He knows he cant get 4G at this time, but also knows 3G is faster than anything else in the area.
We have Millenicom (supposedly uses Verizon 3G hardware/Towers) and our service is terribly poor but all we can get on a 20GB/Mo basis. We now know Verizon 3G service is about 4 times faster as he brought his 4510 to our house and we ran a couple speedtest.net tests and they are faster - noticeably faster.
So the statement of Millenicom using Verizon's hardware/towers may be the case but it does not yield the same service. Problem is Verizon is $20.00/mo more than Millenicom and has a 10GB limit. You pay $10.00/mo for each GB overage.
