RE: Daytona Beach

This is a newer rv park there just north of the Old Orange Isles (now KOA).
Daytona beach campground on Clyde Morris is real hard to beat. Do yourself and your family a favor and check this one out FIRST .
Can you post the web site please.
Here is the current web site:

I prefer I-75 to Knoxville and then over to I-26 and I-95.
Agree about Fancy Gap on I-77. Can be scary situation.

RE: Daytona Beach

We are currently in the Daytona Beach CG on Clyde Morris(third year) Good value. Nova Family a little ruff. If you need satalite, nova park is kind of iffy, lots of trees.

RE: State campgrounds in Michigan nesr Frankenmuth

No state near Faankenmuth but you have Yogi Bear in town and very expensive. About 8 miles south of town is Pine Ridge Camp ground. About a half hour away you have Convent Hill camp ground in Ottisville which has full hook ups a lake and much more.
X2 for the Pine Ridge Campground. Nice setting and clean facility.

RE: Hard Drive For 211K

Jim - I could get the 612 to work with the Carryout but it was a very tedious reset procedure after every time the 612 was turned off. Would have been no problems with a triple LNB static antenna stareing at the satellites. I never tried to use a HD with the 612, either in the RV or at home.
That was the concern I had with the carryout. I use a three LNB dish on a tripod. Set it up with Sat buddy 2. I do love my hd.

RE: Hard Drive For 211K

As it turns out, I did't have a choice between USB and 120 V AC. I tried the Seagate HD mentioned in the beginning and the 211k rejected it with an error message about "some unknown error". Didn't specify USB power hookup as being unacceptable but that was probably it.
So I returned the Seagate to Best Buy and bought an Iomega with its own power supply. That one booted right up. Went through a format process, reset the receiver and I was in business with pause and record on the 211k. Happieness even though I've got a wall wart to plug in now, and much larger HD than the Seagate.
As a side note, this is definitely the way to go if a Carryout dome antenna is used. I tried using a VIP 612 receiver for awhile and that was a very painful experience. Essentially ... don't try it. Instead go with the 211K receiver with the external hard drive addon. Much much easier to deal with while still retaining the pause and record functions to permit commercial skipping and non-real-time viewing.
Thx for all the posts,
Curious as to why you could not get vip 612 to work. We have used it for years with external hard drive. I can record 2 dish channels and one off air HD channel at the same time.

RE: Disney dining plan worth it or not

If you have kids, it may be questionable. We did not have kids and met up with another couple. 6 months prior to our trip we went on line and got reservations for many of the special restaurants. We found it nicer to go from park to park and not to park and back to camper and back to park. We had paid for the reservations so far in advance that we did not notice the expense when we went.

My wife and I really enjoyed the tour of Buffalo Trace and the taste testing at the end of the tour. There are also lots to see in Frankfurt, but remember all the museums are closed on Mondays.

Also remember most restaurants in Frakfort are also closed on Sunday

Take a few days and do the whole Bourbon Trail. Lexington, Louisville and Frankfort. Plan to just visit a few per day to get the true "Flavor" of the great american product. Wild Turkey is great.

RE: Best Device to Help Point DirecTV Dish In the Woods

Sat buddy 2 is a great device. Just hook to dish and move dish for greatest signal strength on each of the satellites you are looking for. Disconnect sat-buddy and connect to receiver, and sit back and enjoy. I got mine at Sadoun.com
