RE: Experience with RV Direct

We purchased our '11 Cardinal 5th wheel from RVDirect and had a great experience. Easy to deal with, unit delivered on-time, no issues and we saved thousands of $dollars. Local dealer wouldn't come close to the price, even though we had purchased our previous unit from them. We were concerned about warranty issues after the local dealer gave us the scare tactic of no service. We had several small warranty issues and took it in to another local rv dealer, who doesn't even sell Forest River products, and they performed all the work with no charge working with Forest River. I would purchase from them again.

RE: 5th Wheel Backup cameras

We have
this one
and it is awesome. We used it mounted inside the rear window in our 38' 5th wheel to monitor our atv trailer on our trip to Colorado. It worked as advertized...only issue was at night the lights reflected off the window and made it image too dark, day time was great.

RE: Heat Pump caught fire? Help and suggestions appreciated.

I agree with above...heat pump is not effective below 42 deg. per service tech. I currently have my unit w/ heat pump in for warranty work due to the heat pump relay in the unit clicking repeatedly before starting the unit when the thermostat called for heat.

RE: towing behind the fifth wheel

I just went through all the same issues. Do have the hitch checked out. Some manufacturers will void your warranty if you tow behind your 5th wheel. We have a 38'Cardinal 5th wheel with a factory installed hitch option, a small light weight single axle aluminum trailer and a wireless camera system. We double towed our two atv's from Tulsa to Silverton, CO this summer with no problems. We are borderline on length but again no issues. The camera was a great investment. As stated, you can't see the trailer behind the 5th wheel so when you hit one of those massive interstate dips and bumps, it sure is reassuring to be able to see the trailer is still there behind your rig! You just have to drive the train like you're one of the 18 wheelers....because you are just as long. Only problem I see is, you can't back up, so you have to make sure you don't get in that situation.
