RE: Initial Solar Hookup only shows partial watts and amps

Take a look at this http://www.altestore.com/store/Charge-Controllers/Solar-Charge-Controllers/PWM-Type-Solar-Charge-Controllers/Morningstar-Charge-Controllers-PWM/Morningstar-TriStar-TS-45-Charge-Controller-without-Display/p806/ as it will do what you want for not a lot of money......It is not MPTT ....I have had mine installed for over three years and it has been problem free....:@

RE: Engine Hoist to remove hitch

Here is what I use.....Harbor Freight folding shop crane.....I made an extension from 1/4 inch wall square tubing that just fit inside the crane.....you need the extension to reach the hitch with the tailgate on.....I set the hitch on a Harbor Freight furniture dolly..
I have used this setup for a number of years.....:C

RE: Wanting solar for fifth wheel..help!!!!

If you want a good understanding of RV Solar please take some time and read Handy Bobs Blog....http://handybobsolar.wordpress.com/about/
It is very long and has many pages....it may take you more than one reading...but if you follow his advise you will be rewarded with a system that truly works well......I did mine twice to get it right....Your goal should be to only do it once....It is not rocket science...just a lot of people claiming to be "experts" with lots of things to sell. I hope this is of some help....:)

RE: Financing. Retail to Retail or Wholesale to Wholesale??

If you have no pay off on the trade then for sure go wholesale to wholesale.....sales taxes are less and (in California) your yearly tags will be based on the selling price of the new unit....not only the first year but every year that you own it..... Retail to Retail may make more sense if your owe more than your trade is worth and you have not got enough down payment to cover the difference......Each deal will be different according to the customers needs.....

RE: Battery Switch and Shore Power - Question.

The answer will depend on where the battery disconnect switch is located......right at the batteries or down the line?....What is in front of the switch and what is behind it?;)

RE: CA Class A Non Commercial - Tandem Tow?

Doubles endorsement means you can pull two trailers at once.....First unit should be a 5th wheel...second unit can be a bumper pull...must have brakes on all vehicles operated by single control....(the brake pedal)......

RE: CA Class A Non Commercial - Tandem Tow?

The only way I found to do it was to go ahead and get the Class A Commercial with doubles endorsement......a little more work.....but I know it's legal....:h

RE: 5th Wheel Hitches-different types?

Spend the money only once and get it right the first time.....BUY THE TRAILERSAVER...air ride hitch....very easy to use....positive locking jaws...works like hitch on over the road semi...verh high capacity for both toung weight and trailer weight....and yes it does "save your trailer"!

RE: 5th Wheel Hitch

You may wish to consider the TrailerSaver Air Ride hitch....It will "save your trailer" from a lot of wear....It is not cheap
but if you spend the money right the first time it will be money well spent....Don't ask me how I know this?:)

RE: 2005 Raptor Fuel Station Pump

Most likely the pump gears have swollen....There are many links on RV Net about fuel station pump repair.....The pump is easily removable with the tank full...The gears cost about 15 bucks or some people have had some success by very lightly sanding the sides of the gears with very fine grit paper against a very flat surface...take almost no material off or the clearance will be too much...:)
Do a search for "fuel station repair" and you will get phone numbers
and part numbers in-order to get the parts you need.....

RE: suspension link failed

The Dexter Easy Flex is the way to go.....Wet bolts have grease Zerk on the end ......If you put it back the way it was it will only happen again do to lack of lubrication....the nylon bushings are a joke...the wet bolt and easy flex comes with brass bushings....Was it Arnold Palmer that said while selling Pennzoil...."You can pay me now or you can pay me later"?:S

RE: Slideouts move in, will not move out.

Does the Trombetta(solenoid switch) provide power to the terminal on the motor?....I had a similar problem and ended up replacing the Trombetta ....I think I called the factory after looking Trombetta up on the Internet....about $80.00 if memory serves me correctly.....There should be a foil cover on the end of the motor that will allow you to insert an extension and socket hooked to a electric drill so as to move the slide in and out.....I hope you find this helpful?:h

RE: Solar question #2

I used a fuse box I bought at Home Depot for less than $20 ....It was made for use on an air conditioning compressor used on houses....It holds two fuses ...one is used for the solar panels and the other for the solar controller....just pull out the removable switch to turn the system off....You can see a picture of the box and the charge controller on my web site solar page.. ...Hope this helps you.....:C

RE: Solar question

From my own experience with the controller you have....I had one too...It is not adjustable and will not charge your batteries to the proper voltage...You might want to consider another unit....:)

RE: Battery Bank Monitor

For a good read about solar and the right units to install take a few minuets and read Handy Bobs blog of his life with solar....http://handybobsolar.wordpress.com/ his system works and he will point you toward the right battery monitor.....I know this because I converted my solar to his specs over two years ago....

RE: Solar question

The best thing that you could do is to check out the "Handy Bob" advise shown in an earlier post.....You need to know if your install is correctly done and with the right charge controller settings and wire size.....I know this because I changed my setup to Handy Bob's specs over two years ago.... and now my system works as Bob advertises and is trouble free....Only run my gen set when I want the AC on..... visit my web site to see my install.....Hope this is of some help

RE: Un hitching with a Husky Airbox hitch

I raise my trailer off the air hitch just enough to remove all the down force being applied by the trailer.....I also put three painted marks on the hitch parts so that there is no doubt when the hitch is all the way up, in the middle, or all the way down. :C

RE: Battery questions

I have found that batteries will "gas" when charging even at low amperage inputs.....when they gas, they will bubble a little . With the fumes you will get a little battery water and acid on the tops of the batteries. While it will probably help a multi stage converter most likely will not stop battery gasses from being present inside your battery compartment. As far as re-painting I would be sure to get all of the rust and corrosion out first and check with a paint manufacturer as what would work best....RustOlienum (probably spelled wrong) has worked well for me....Hope this helps?:C
