RE: RV Park ocean side ?

Henderson SP is right on the beach - near MB. Very nice.

RE: Roof Leak or Condensation???

Do you have a shower skylight - those are a frequent problem. Since there's no ventilation in the area, any leaked water (or condensation) can build.

RE: Telling a poster to "do a SEARCH"

I tend to write long AND COMPLETE anwers to questions and topics. Frankly, I don't have time to fully answer the same quetions over and over, If they want complete and various opinions, the only way to get that is by reading search results. I chuckled over the answer from the person who said they found it easier to ask a quetion and simply read the answers. Well, DUH! Yes, I find it easier to do NO WORK too. For most questions, the topic has been raised before - and there will be MORE and BETTER answers posted over time. The best information is found by doing a search!

RE: Selling Motor Home

In my experience, I got the most hits from RVT, although they didn't result in a sale. I used the free ad, and they gave an additional extension.

RE: La Mesa RV business practices

I'm guessing the fine print in your contract precludes any liability from LaMesa. If the window manufacturer does provide a replacement, LaMea would be foolish to not install it for you as a gesture of goodwill.

RE: Any vegetarian RV'ers?

One "RAW" VEGAN - one meat eater. One of the requirements for the last RV was the big four door refrigerator. Keeping enough lettuce-type salad makings and other stuff was a space-challenge with the smaller two door model. Otherwise, it's the same routine as at home - two sets of impliments and designated cutting boards and dishes - separate shelves in the fridge - frequent shopping trips to various markets and roadside vegetable stands. Eating out becomes a challenge when you eat nothing COOKED. "Chefs" say they'll make "something special" for the vegan, but that usually means a huge pile of iceburg lettuce - or worse, some creation that shows they don't undertand - always at a high price. You can never depend of what a waitress tells you! Frustrating.

RE: Your DP Drivers Window Leak?

I assume you have the POWER WINDOW. This has been a recurring problem in Newmars with power windows. They intalled the window unit (comes as a whole) into the wall without installing the draintube to the outside at the bottom of the unit to the outside. I've seen several this way - all of them were thought to have leaks in the window units - one had the entire space between the upper and lower floors completely filled with standing water. Look in the area directly below the window unit while lightly running water on the outside - water should come out a drain tube below the lower floor - IF you have one installed. I was buying a used DS when I first disvocered this. Newmar denied any knowledge of the problem. That coach had been back to the factory twice for "leaking driver window:, but they didn't find this. I've seen several others with power driver' windows gunked up in attempt to stop the leaks. I don't check my old posts often, so you may PM me if you need more info.

RE: Emergency brake and Auto Levelers

Is your "emergency brake" indicator light coming on when you ue the brake. Most levelers operate only if the brake light circuit is lighting.

RE: Replacing a King Mattress

Two twins are easy to get it - and they're MUCH EASIER to flip. If you have the length - and it sound like you don't - two twins will be better than the extra-long twins which would be the same size as a conventional king.

RE: Master Tow

They're fine - but I'd buy something 4-down towable!

RE: Sparton chassis split boot

Johnsonbert - When did you have yours repaired? Year of coach? Has Tuthill redesigned the ball joint? Thanks!

RE: Sparton chassis split boot

The problem was a specific ball joint (Tuthill, I believe) which Spartan used. I researched it in depth a few years ago. At that time, there were only three service centers in the entire country that were capable of changing them, but the company was working on making more of the specific required tool. They are not serviceable - and must be changed. I believe the problem is solved by intalling new ones. Two years ago, there were pictures on the Internet. The rubber seal in the joint appears split, and some grease leaks out. I suggest you ask Newmar.

RE: Autoformer questions

Mine sat outside, chained to the power post, for years without any problem. I intended to mount it inside, but never did. I was concerned that I wanted to be able to unplug it and not use it when I chose.

RE: Antisocial RV-ing

I had a screenroom - people were hesitant to visit in that too. The door/flap was a little hard to figure out. I also found it was hard to see into, and people seemed uncomfortable trying to look inside to see if I was there. I really dislike the whole "outside TV" thing. People leave them on when they aren't actually watching - but the rest of us have to hear it.

RE: Setting up Brake Buddy

This idea is to stop the CAR if it breaks free - so the switch needs to be one THE CAR and connected to the motorhome. You could have failures in the bracket system. My switch is mounted below the front bumper on the toad. A reminder to all - thee switches are exposed (and unserviced) all year long. You should test your switch occasionally.

RE: Rigid versus collapsible tow bars & safety?

Most Class A gas motorhomes will do this in high wind - regardless of the toad. Diesels handle the wind much better. There are many supecsion add-ons that can make a big improvement in both - see Henderson's website. Frankly, those "white knuckle" days would be better spent waiting it out in a campground. NOTHING could convince me to go back to a dolly. My Sterling towbar is locking when driving - there is very little ability to move. When I went from a dolly to the towbar, I didn't notice much difference in towing.

RE: Antisocial RV-ing

I think everyone feels odd going in another person's "private space". My experience has been that some of those who WILL come in for a visit become the ones you wish you hadn't invited in. Smokers who keep trying to light-up while knowing you don't want smokers inside - leeches who keep "borrowing" - people who come during your "quiet time" - and the rest you can imagine. So, "Careful what you wish for". The best situation is to have an inviting patio with nice chairs - people will stop if invited.

RE: Florida campgrounds hurting

Morgan is scum! No wonder they're searching for new customers so hard. The MA Attorney General is suing them for blackmailing current resaidents in a park with a required club membership. They're headed to Maine Court over bringing in non-allowed structures into a York Maine park. Find a bargain elsewhere. FYI - the better parks aren't hurting, and reervations will still be hard to get.
