RE: Nitrogen in tires

I am sticking with human produced Methane. Most of the time it is fun to produce, and if you get a leak, it will smell like S...., well, you know.:E

RE: LP GENERATORS

Do you need to run the genny for long periods of time?, or just to use the microwave or watch the tube for an hour or 2. Would turning the furnace off and using an electric heater instead work ? Just a thought

RE: Closest decent CG to Ipswitch, Massachusetts

Thank you demoon for the great info. I did check RVParkreviews, but I prefer word of mouth best. Salisbury State sounds nice.

The present full time Camp Hosts at Killens Pond State Park in Delaware. They are doing fine, even with night time temps in the 20's...and soon to be colder.

RE: "OUT OF THE BOX" CAMPING IN NJ

Not too sure you have many options this time of year, other than a WM or Cracker Barrel if you dont want to use a CG. Try a Delaware or PA Casino. Unfortunately, its still a parking lot, but you may park so you have a view of bordering property instead of a lined parking lot. We do it in Dover and Harrington on occasion. Delaware Park allows RV overnighting also. Great buffets, entertainment, people watching, and having the option to lose money :) We are stubborn and wont let the fact of closed CG's or winter to stop us from Rving, And its FUN.

RE: Charcoal vs. Propane

Charcoals the best, although I am using gas now. I usually have to cook quite a bit at one time and need multiple heat sources, and if its raining out, I still need to cook. We do take advantage of cooking right on the fire when we can. I will usually buy a small bag of charcoal at the camp store and put some right on the fire to help control the heat for those juicy char fire grilled Steaks,Ribs, chicken, butter grilled Lobster tails, fire baked potatoes, and grilled corn on the cob. Stuff always tastes better with charcoal, and even with wood...Now for that Lipitor.

Obvious, I am a fan of Ocean Lakes. Regarding size of sites, Ocean Lakes does have choices. These VERY large sites are located in the HH section. As you can see by the photo, there is plenty of room even for the 40' + rigs.

RE: Hatteras KOA or Camp Hatteras?

We personally likes Camp Hatteras better due to the concrete pads, and having the option of Ocean side or Bay side sites. I know the KOA is in the process of an extreme makeover since the storm. CH also had to do repairs, including the indoor pool etc, which will re open soon. Some will mention about Ocean Waves CG right up the street as an option. We never stayed there but walked thru. They also have concrete pads and some sites with shade. Do visit the area. The OBX is beautiful and there is so much to see.

Tall Pines Harbor CG in Sanford Virginia(close to Chinkoteague)... First image is the new section with 50 amp WES and Cable tv. Second image is water front sites, water and electric only, but pump out service is available. The very nice CG owners have worked very hard to make this place top notch.

Island Resort CG in Newark Maryland (close to Ocean City).. Large 50 amp WES sites, High and dry, fairly new CG with great owners

RE: Indoor pool in Va??

The indoor pool at Camp Hatteras OBX should be open within a week or so. It, and the hot tub are really nice on a cold winter day.

RE: Height of Carports and RV's?

We are in the process of doing the same thing. Still planning and permit process. We are going for a 14' height, for room to upgrade. We also took into consideration we may be moving and the future owners may have an RV that needs the clearance. A friend of mine just purchased a 5ver with a height of 13'4". You never know what will be down the road.

RE: Myrtle Beach Campground

http://i40.tinypic.com/xfvoev.jpg height=440
My .02 All the MB CG's are great and have alot to offer. Our preference is Ocean Lakes. We like to have the option of reserving a site with a view like this. You cant see the ocean from your site at alot of the other CG's. I like to be able to step outside or just look out the window to see the beach and water. This picture was taken just 5 weeks ago.
We would choose sites in the 3000 or 4000 section during the summer months. There is alot less traffic and the option of shade on some of those sites. Tons of things for the kids to do.

RE: boondocking is boondocking

Lately, I have been calling it Casino Camping. Most of the time, when dry camping, boondocking, overnighting, squatting, cheap etc., I am having fun !!!
Just because its winter and 98% of the CG's are closed wont stop us from enjoying Rving...

RE: Assateague National Seashore

I am ok with it. We go frequently during the winter. I need to find out how much the off season rater are going to be. Last trip we paid $16.00
They have done some nice improvements with the showers, pit toilets and drainage issues on the roads. Best beach on Delmarva.

RE: winterized and forgot the low point drains

After I run the Antifreeze thru, I open the 3 low point drains to let the small amount of clear water out, then collect the antifreeze back in the bottle. I usually lose a bit over a qt every time, mostly due to the P traps. Since I have to do this every week, I elected to save what I can every time. No need to leave the stuff sitting in the lines once you pump it thru. I spent over $32.00 last winter on antifreeze. This year, after 4 winter trips , I have only spent about $8.00 so far.

RE: Do folks actually carry passengers in their fifth-wheels?

I have been around long enough to remember bouncing around the back of a pickup truck, and when traveling inside it or a car....Seat belts, what are seat belts? Rode back in the TT a few times too,on short trips. I guess we were built better back then. The only thing I can remember about it was that it was FUN.
