RE: FIGURE THIS ONE OUT........

We move our annual gathering to different parts of Wisconsin so it is convenient for family to come camping or come to visit. We have a very relaxed meal plan and have game night each night we camp.
Families with small children plan little kid stuff, like a wading pool. We trust the teenagers to go to the pool and police themselves. We bring pictures, genealogy and talk about genetics as we get older and try to keep each other in good shape. Our largest gathering was 5 campers, 80 people with day visitors, oldest family member 80, youngest 6 months.

RE: Heading south through Montana

It's a straight, and boring drive from Gillette to Douglas. If you need a place to stay over night, you can camp at the Douglas park at the river for 48 hours for free. There is a nice shower/bathroom building and fresh water. no other hookups.

RE: Wisconsin RV Parks/Resorts

Kohler Andre is beautiful and will accomodate your rig. However, it's booked heavily as all the sites are reservable. It's generally cool there, even in the summer, so you may find non-electric sites during the week.
Same goes for Point Beach State Park at Two Rivers, also on Lake Michigan. Plymouth Rock is a private campground between Plymouth and Elkhardt Lake. There may be other private campgrounds in the area. Try Wisconsing camping for a search.

RE: Solar Cool Windows

I believe you can use Rain X. Works well and we haven't had any problems with it.

Thank you, C.B. and Lil Truckr for the replies. We haven't pulled anything behind the 5er, but may consider in the future.

RE: Animas Forks ghost town near Silverton CO

Linda Ann,
You can put Castle Town, Montana on the ghost town list. There are a number of building there. The drive is 4 wheel and worth the trip.

RE: Cast Iron Dutch Oven Cooking...

It's the cookware we use. There are two of us. I just use amounts appropriate for two. We have a large and small fry pan with covers and several sizes of dutch ovens. Get the sizes that work for you. We use them on the campfire and in the kitchen. Most cooking will be moist and meals done in about 20 to 30 minutes.

RE: Good brand of lightweight 5vers

We have a Crossroads Patriot edition, 28.5 footer. Have towed into the mountains on gravel/dirt roads and camped in rugged conditions. Have not had any concerns or problems related to travel. Have towed to Montana from Wisconsin and Colorado (x2) from Wisconsin. will be continuing to do so. The Patriot is a step up and we really like the extras.

The wildlife loop will be fine. It's the Needles Hwy that is not accessible.

RE: Our "Kids" diet on the Road

a spoonful of pumpkin ( not pumpkin pie filling) does a great job. I mix it with her food and she eats it up. Easy to carry along and to use.

RE: Catalooche Campsite in The Smokey Mountains

We drove up from the east side without the 5er. Lots of switchbacks. DH said hauling up from the west side would be doable. Sorry, it was a couple of years ago and I don't remember the road numbers/names.

I do not believe there are any camping sites developed. You can check at Wisconsin DNR. I didn't find any camping listed.

RE: favorite Wisconsin Campground

Try Harrington Beach State Park, Kohler Andre State Park, Mauthe Lake State Park or Yellowstone Lake State Park. Have camped at all and will camp again. Can reserve on line. might get lucky. they fill up early for summer.
