RE: Dutchman brand? Any good?

Hi,
We have a Dutchmen 2006 DSL, full bathroom, kingsize bed, had it 6 years and towed it about 40,000 miles. We had one problem with the slide motor and it was taken care of by the company. No other problems and we still love it.

RE: Did you settle or ?

In 2006 my husband said with a challenge "find a camper with a king size bed and a large full bathroom" and I will consider looking at it. He said this because there were very few trailers with a king size bed and a large full bathroom on one floor. We went to a camping show and I found one that had these things and everything else was just okay. So we got the two things that my husband wanted. After snowbirding for several years and a few trips north and summer camping, we still love it. So pick a few things that you know you want in a camper and enjoy.

Lake Manatee SP vs Highland Hammock

Hi,
We've never been to either state park. We will be visiting that area next spring. Have you camped at these state parks? Is one better for bike riding than the other? Highland Hammock gets great reviews for the park but doesn't say much for the campground. Thanks for your help.

Yes I mean LBN. We will look for a Dish local provider. We didn't buy the dish from Dish. Thanks for your help.

need help to order lbn for a dishpro plus

Hi,
First we are on the road and in Destin, Florida. Is there a place that we can go to and buy one. If not what is the best online site that we can use to order it and have it delivered? The reason we need a lbn is that we can't receive a signal at all no matter where we position the dish. We have used it many times. My husband replaced all the coax cable lines and tried it on 2 dvrs and we still can't even get a signal from any satellite. So we think we need to replace it, do you agree? Thanks for your help.

RE: shih tzu for a camping dog????

Hi Code2High,
Last fall we had to have our Becky an Irish Setter mix, age 14, euthanized. Becky was a great dog and it has been very hard getting past the daily heartache. We know we made the right decision for Becky. Since we have adopted other dogs I'm sure he is fine with adopting a dog. When we talk about getting a Shih tzu he doesn't really seem interested, however if one appeared in our yard she/he would be welcome. So when I find one, maybe it can just follow me home.LOL. He does think they are a lot of trouble when we travel. In the mean time, I will keep looking so when the right doggie follows me home, I'll be ready.

RE: shih tzu for a camping dog????

Hi Cat,
First I really appreciate all the posts from RV.Net. Lots of good advice. I've talked to our vet last week. I checked online with the Shih Tzu Rescue and visited a no kill pet shelter, and also visited the APA shelter. I'm liking the idea of a rescue because all of our pets have been pets needing homes. My husband isn't completely on board with me adopting a pet. I'll keep you posted.

shih tzu for a camping dog????

Hi,
I want a "little pal" for home and camping. All the shih tzu's that I meet at campgrounds seem to have such really sweet personalities? I've read what they say about the breed in general, but nothing like talking to someone who has one. So if you have one, are they as sweet as they act and look? Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Duncan is so cute. He is already trained, loves camping, and all you have to do is love him. I'm so happy that you two found each other. Duncan sure looks happy.

RE: House sold

Hi,
Congratulations!!!! I'm very happy for you and your wife. I can feel your excitement all the way to my house. LOL. I know you will enjoy traveling around this beautiful country of ours at your own pace. No we don't full time but we try to get away during winter snowbird season for a few months. My husband needs to return home every few months to tinker in his workshop and then it is hard to get him on the road again. Safe travels.

RE: Camping Too Much Trouble?.......How Sad

Hi,
At the end of every camping season(BOO) we empty our camper of everything that the mice would like to eat and all of our clothes so they don't move in and use the clothes for nesting. and empty out kitchen cabinets that they have proven they can get in and make a mess. The first trip means packing everything back to camper and it is work BUT the excitement of the first trip out usually is a real motivator to get it done. Can we go yet???

tires and road hazzard insurance

Hi,
Do you buy road hazard insurance when you buy your new tires? Do you full time or at least travel enough that home is where you are camping for the present time, so you can't just wait until you get home to resolve the tire problem? If so, where is the best place to buy the tires so that you can easily find another of its franchise store in case of a problem with the tires? We usually buy Michelins. We bought them at Firestone thinking that Firestone is everywhere. What we didn't know is that the Firestone dealer where we bought them was owned independently, not a company store. So when we had a problem Firestone said return them to the store where you bought them.
Thanks for your help.

RE: Cat Travel Advice

Hi,
We started taking our 10 year old indoor/outdoor cat with us on trips a few years ago. One of the things our vet suggested is that we get him a different carrier for the trips than the one we take him in to the vet. The vet's point being that the cat wouldn't smell the vet's office smells on the new carrier and it would help him to realize that he isn't going to the vet and he might settle down faster in the truck. So we got a real nice carrier with room for his toys and blankie. He meows for a few minutes and then either sleeps or looks out of the carrier's door. He is a good traveler and when we stop we take him to the trailer and he eats and uses the litter box. When we get ready to leave he is usually back in his carrier and ready to go again. I hope this helps you to be able to travel with your cat.

RE: Consumer Cellular

HI,
We have used consumer cellular services from AAA for about 10 years. They use AT&T and the signal depends on the type of phone you request when you sign up and the location of your call. Along interstates and state highways the signal is very good, but in some of the state parks you can't pick up a very strong signal. My daughter bought a phone through consumer cellular rather than accepting their free telephone, and she gets a signal when we with the free phone can't. There is an activation fee for each phone you activate and even if you want to add one of the newer phones from consumer cellular. I do like the fact that they have a flat monthly fee plus pay 25 cents a minute if you use it, or they have several options that include minutes depending on which plan you select. When we travel we buy minutes and use them just chatting, and when we arrive home we change our plan(because we live in an area that doesn't get an AT&T signal) without a charge. Go to consumer cellular and check their coverage areas so you can see if their coverage is available where you want to use it. I hope this helps you.

RE: Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center

Hi,
Stephen Foster is one of my favorite state parks in Florida. We always stop for 4-5 days on our way south and back home too. I agree with what all the other posters have written but I want to add that they have a carillon that plays Stephen Foster's music at scheduled times during the day. You can sit in your camper or go outside and hear the music from your campsite. Also there is a museum dedicated to the history of Stephen Foster's music and life. It's free and it is open during the day. Absolutely worth visiting. The bike riding is really nice. Also they have master's that have classes in the village. The village is located within the park and master craft people teach classes and show their work at the gift shop or in their own studio. The village is open during the day, but not all the masters are there everyday. Sometimes they have live music on the back porch of the gift shop. We have a 30 foot camper and it fits in most places and we have seen a lot of portable dishes around the park. The suggestion to ask the ranger for the best site available for your camper and dish is a really smart thing. We have stayed all over the park and had no problem but some sites are easier to find the satellite than others. Only negative is that there are no walmarts or grocery stores close to the park. Just shop before you arrive. It's such a beautiful park. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

RE: First reservation for 2012 made..so happy

Hi,
What a great trip you've planned to begin 2012. Myrtle Beach is a great beach and if you have a dog they allow them on the beach during certain hours of the day, or at least they did a few years ago when we were there. I love Willow Tree Rv Park. Have a super time.
Hurry make some more before they are all gone. Ha! Ha!

RE: Fort Pierce Florida

Hi,
We stayed at Treasure Coast Rv park last year. I agree that it is a nice park, great management, and would camp there again. We visited a really neat place on Hutchinson Island called the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center. Google it and read about the place. We really enjoyed our visit. Although close to the highway we never noticed the noise and I spent a lot of time outside riding my bike and walking. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

RE: A LETTER TO OUR FURRY FRIENDS

Hi,
That will be perfect to post at the front door so visitors will know that their complaining about our spoiled furry friends being on the couch and sitting on the floor at the table, and rushing to be first out the door is the norm at our house. Thanks for the laugh on a cold day.

RE: pictures of shelves

Very nice. I really like the dividers. Did you use glue or nail to attach the shelves to the wall? My husband always says he worries about nailing into any electrical wires that might be back there? Was that a problem for you?
