RE: Terrible Service

The contract is the contract and you want something more that you have not paid for. At what distance should they cut off 'was only x miles away'. First it was 2 miles, this time 4 miles, will it be 10 miles next time. I think you should thank Good Sam not discontinue. They are keeping their side of the contract and you are not. HEAR, HEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Saskatchewan Parks: How Busy?

Have a look below, Sask Tourism. Touquay is seriously in the oil patch boom. Getting camping may well be a difficulty. I would get started now and try for reservations. My Mom was born and raised on a farm just outside of Manor, approximately 95miles north and east of Torquay. Manor is east of Carlyle on HWY 13. Good Luck; Vic http://www.sasktourism.com/

RE: careful what you put in diesel tanks, someone is watching

Back in the day, there was no need to dip most vehicles. The red dye in the GAS (not diesel) stained the carb red. Quick peak and all was revealed. The non-taxed was gasoline for off road use. We used to use the "off road" fuel in our boat, legally, off road! Vic

RE: ros and cons of Tow Doly

Four down is always best ...Not necessarily. 'Always' is a very big word, and often suggests one is being a bit too narrow-minded. If a vehicle is leased and cannot be altered significantly, or.. If the owner trades vehicles often, or anticipates trading soon, or If the owner wants to be able to tow several different FWD vehicles, or If the vehicle is one that requires a lube pump to tow 4 down or other modifications the owner does not want to deal with, or If the vehicle is one that cannot be towed 4 down at all and owner does not want to or cannot trade for another one, In thos cases, NO, 4 down is NOT the best choice. Will HEAR HEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well said. Vic

RE: RV Barge

I think I remember there being a barge operation on the Shuswap many years ago. Just had a quick look and saw nothing relative to a barge to pack an RV. Vic

RE: Keys made at WalMart

From my experience with having keys cut at Wal Mart, Totem, Canadian Tire and Home Depot, save yourself some frustration and go to a look smith to get keys cut. One trip is always better than two or more. They may be slightly more but, the value is clearly there! Vic

RE: Towing scooter and bikes with utility trailer

Check the frame rails for the trailer's load rating. Compare the load rating with you intended load plus the trailer weight to the load rating. Make sure the trailer tires are properly inflated based on the tire rating as stated on the side wall of the tires.

RE: Bell Tv

vic46: I think you should rereard your first post. It is Bell that is outclassed! The day of roof top domes are numbered! There are 3 mfrs. of automatic roof top units( not domes) for Shaw but none for Bell! Your complaining about no domes is like saying that no current RV mfr. provides a VHS player! Within a few years all TV programming will be in HD. Satellite service providers seem to need more than one satellite to provide all of the channels. Direct uses 5 and Shaw I think is 2. Domes cannot see enough satellites. In motion TV should be bannned anyway as a driver distraction! Technology changes and many of us do have trouble adapting to the changes. Shaw will support you while in the USA and I have even heard of people in Yuma getting Shaw service reps at their site! Bell CSR's are the nastiest people. Shaw tries but their phone lines are overloaded. Moisheh Perhaps you should reread my post. I was talking about SHAW DIRECT! My Post included the site addresses for the three roof mount antennas that will work with the SHAW satellite system, non of which are tracking. The comment about banning tracking is solely your opinion. Surely we don't need more RULES. My comment about Bell was their historic concern about Canuck's using the Bell sat system south of the US/Can border.

RE: Why "All Electric"

What do you do for heat? We dry camp several times a year, in fact right now while I'm typing this :), but we frequently use our furnaces. Seems like electric heat would be a huge drag on battery power? Jim Probably hydronic heat fired by diesel. google Webasto

RE: That's a lot of hail

I'm wondering about this story. The last photo has this caption under it. "Covered in dust, this hail drift measured six feet high on April 12 and was still intact a day after it formed near Dumas, Texas, the National Weather Service said." Today is the 12th of April. What year was this? Dates seem a little hinky to me also. Will be watching the evening news for confirmation! Vic

RE: Bell Tv

Vic46, I realize that Shaw Direct does not support on the go (mobile)satellite. Neither does Telus that is for home use only, try to get Telus on the road as a Rver. For me, using SC then Shaw direct all over North America without problems has been great. Left Bell sat in 04 when they left us without sat on a 6 month trip. My Winegard traveller dish sets up when we park for the night in a few minutes every time. We do carry a portable dish for the odd time we are parked behind trees etc. Don Barber I clearly understand the situation. I use one of my home receivers and my spare dish in the MH. My point is the head in the sand attitude of Shaw.

RE: Music or not at the camp site?

I don't care what others do at their campsite as long as it does not impact me and I try to do the same. I do enjoy some Taichovsky, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker and Pink Floyd from time to time but at a reasonable level.dont foget LYNYRD SKYNYRD,and BOSTON:W And the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band and the Metropolitan Toronto Police Pipe Band. I just don't think this music could be too loud! :E

RE: Bell Tv

Well, I am not sure that Shaw is the answer. I have been "chatting" with them over the last couple of days. Have yet to find anyone that knew what they were talking about. Near as I can tell, Shaw supports only three antenna systems, none of which are tracking capable, as follows: 1. Motosat HD-SC2: http://www.motosat.com/index.php/tvante/69.html 2. Winegard TRAV’LER: http://www.winegard.com/travler/travler-shaw-direct.php 3. Explorer SD60a or SD75a: http://explorersc2000.com/en_products.html Shaw just doesn't seem to care that they are again being outclassed. Telus introduced a new TV, internet and telephone service about two years ago. There were some initial snags but now all is well and they are kicking Shaw's heinie! I swithed after 12 years with Shaw direct and they called several days after I initiated the service termination. The person couldn't understand why I would change and then came up with a bunch "goodies". I simply very firmly told them that if I was not worth anythin as a customer then I would clearly be worth less as a lost customer. I think that went over the persons head at about 30K. Vic Historically Bell has really got their knickers in a bunch if they discovered that a canuck was accessing their sat system while out of Canada. I have no idea what the beef is or perhaps was in the event that they can somehow limit the reception south of the 49th as suggested above. Really don't understand the philosophy here.

Satellite antenna

I would sure appreciate hearing what folks are using for a satellite antenna for the Canadian Shaw Direct (was Star Choice) satellite system. Thanks; Vic

RE: Pecking order Monaco & Holiday Rambler

Go here. Rome this site, select the "products" tab and there is a pecking order list of both Monaco and HR. Selecting one of the models will give you the base msrp of that model. If one did them all one could create a double list including entry MSRP. Vic http://www.monacorv.com/monacorv/
