RE: Protectant for hardwood cutting board stove topper?

I've used poly-unsaturated cooking oil for cutting boards and it didn't turn rancid. Soak down the end grain especially well.

1000 b.f. divided by 12 {12 board feet in one cu. ft.} X 38 lbs. per cu. ft. = 3100 lbs. without other variables like moisture.

I think a front hitch is best if "structurally possible".
Tow it to the ramp, then use the front hitch to launch.

RE: Music or not at the camp site?

no music for me when i get to use the tc (not finished yet) can't really hear it anyway listened to it to loud for too long when i was a dumb kid :S need hearing aids and i'm not quite forty yet:(
Exactly.
For those who don’t “like to read” it says that younger adults 30-40+, and others, have hearing deficits worse than prior generations. In abbreviated form, we’ll call it “UAD” for “Uresolved Auditory Deficiencies”.
_____
I play Sirrus Satelite from the TV through my surround sound in my 5ver,at a low leval to my outside speakers, but always walk to the next campsite to make sure the neighbor cannot hear my Country/Oldies music, now
You are likely experiencing UAD. Do you think the area between you and your neighbor has a sound barrier that causes sound waves to drop to the ground and “dissolve”? Your “low level” sound waves carry for considerable distances past your site but those with UAD don’t realize it because they can’t hear them and therefore the problem doesn’t exist so those who complain are unreasonable or grumpy.
____
Frankly I could care less what everyone else is doing. AND I'd rather listen to someone's radio than a grumpy old guy attempting to play an instrument. it’s not a choice between two evils; the music source doesn’t make any difference.
…If you feel the music is disrespectful, ask them to turn it down. although if it's not during quiet time, good luck with that
Is this a Freudian slip? unless the music is really loud, in which case talk to the ranger/host.
… Yes, there might be kids playing (and god forbid) making noise And YES, there's a chance there might be partiers. The question is about others’ music not kids, not dogs etc.
Everyone really needs to get off their "holier than now" seat and learn to deal with the situation.
If music's too loud, (once again) TALK to the "suspect" and ask them politely to turn down the music.didn’t you just say, “Good luck with that” in the above paragraph? If they're being confrontational about it, go higher or ask to move.So others have to move because someone else has UAD? That’s a ME attitude.
Why is this such a big deal. Does no one talk to their CG neighbors? After your “good luck” response, why bother? Considerate people don’t wind up in that position to begin with—they use Bluetooth or headsets; and if everyone did, this would be a non-issue.
____
Everyone is entitled to RV however they want. So I can target practice between our sites?
Never said I was one of loud music guys... Just if something is bothering me that another camper is doing, I will (I know this is odd) but befriend them and ask them to turn it down...instead of having an ulser behind a computer screen, and letting them ruin my trip. And you would be compliant to a “grumpy old man’s request to make the necessary corrections? Not likely based on your other posts. If they do not turn it down I will notify the ranger/host and if nothing is done, I will ask to move. The person causing the noise should be moved to the “back lot”, not the “innocent complainer”.
I play loud music of all varieties when group camping in a sectioned-off part of the campground. For individual camping trips, the music as low as it can be - played with a simple single desktop speaker.
That doesn’t mean it can’t be intrusive to others.
I enjoy the quite.
:p
I always have music playing, but for my own enjoyment and those with me.
I likewise make sure it does not travel farther than our site with a walk around test. If you are UAD, it’s pointless and ineffective. For those who claim to “go to the other site to see if their music can be heard, you should go HALF-WAY to the other site because the other half belongs to the other guy and he’s in charge of his own “air waves”.
I actually have a 9 speaker system inside my toyhauler with exterior 12"subwoofer and 2 6x9s. I love blasting music when I am camping especially when I am at the dunes, desert or beach. If I have to deal with your stupid loud ass generator and annoying kids playing in my site then you get to hear my music......youre welcome.
And here is a perfect example of the ME generation.
___
IF music being played outside of a rig is always a big no no then mfg's should stop making outside speakers that are on many units…Should we stop making anything that humans don’t have the common sense to use appropriately and therefore punish those that do?
What is reasonable to one is too loud for another. Thus we do not listen to any music outside. And that’s why the policy of: "If we can hear your music outside of your RV, you will be asked to leave" is the fairest and least obtrusive to others. I suspect several people on this thread would complain about this rule even though it seems reasonable, fair and easy to apply.
___
If music's too loud, (once again) TALK to the "suspect" and ask them politely to turn down the music... Why is this such a big deal. Does no one talk to their CG neighbors? Didn’t you address that before i.e. “lots of luck”?
___
Here we go....
Why is that a problem? If I'm camping at a campground and following the campground rules. I am doing NOTHING wrong. I could care less about your "personal space" since you do not OWN that site, and I paid just as much (if not more) to be there. Define Personal space..What infringes on you, may not infringe on me and vice versa. How about the baby next door that’s trying to sleep and has very good hearing, not UAD. The baby is a better judge of loudness than a 40 year old (if only babies could talk).
… If someone comes over and has a noise concern, I acknowledge it, as long as: #1 the person is asking respectfully, So you want the guy that has been trying for two hours to go to sleep, and can’t because of your racket, to kiss your rear end to reduce the volume? If he wasn’t respectful, would you turn it down? and #2 the person in being reasonable. A person with UAD can’t define “reasonable” volumes—you’ve said so yourself below (in blue) and very astutely I might add. If the person is complaining about my son laughing too loudly, well..you get the point (I hope).Introducing other factors and ridiculous examples only dilutes your position.
I can agree with you but can you agree with my campsite my rules. Meaning I should not have to put up with your noise and you mine.
Yes, But this is exactly what I mean. If I'm sitting there listening to music, how do I know what your "too loud" is? This may not be intentional, but maybe my hearing is not as good as yours (ironic), so what seems like a reasonable level to me, is not a reasonable level to you. Or maybe I did the walk test, turn the music on, walked 10ft from the source, and couldn't hear it, but then you're 15ft away and can hear it like your sitting in the concert. You see what I mean. There's a level of tolerance that needs to be defined, and people are typically more reasonable if a relationship is developed before the "problem" starts.
Exactly. Generally if the person is at all considerate, they wouldn't be blasting their stuff in the first place. Even worse, my experience is that the same people with the loud music who get the ranger called on them in the first place wouldn't hesitate to slash someone's tires later in the evening as an act of revenge.
Even more the reason to befriend them before the incident. IE. they wouldn't suspect you. Why would you want to befriend an inconsiderate jerk? Those types invite you for a beer so they don’t have to turn down the music because you’re part of the party—I’ve seen it happen.Actually, I have done this many times.
Please Note: I hope I haven’t screwed up in the “quotes and boxes” portion of this post; and if I have, I apologize, it was strictly unintentional.

What's IDI?
Are you saying that you use G-05 coolant and change it every 30K and that makes the additive unecessary? The additive is in the coolant that's changed and "refreshed" with new fluid every 30K?

Anti cavitation additive for 7.3 PSD

At the risk of hijacking another thread, I started this one:
How many of you owning the 7.3 PSD check and add the anti-cavitation additive (FW16 I think)?
Do you do it yourself with your own test strips or have a Ford dealer do it?
Thanks.

RE: Lance 1181 bumper hitch

Bad idea. Our 1181 (I think) is a box bent from aluminum and "stitch welded" along it's length. I think it's designed for a step and hose storage, period--nothing else.
I can't imagine putting a load like you propose on this type of bumper.

RE: E-15, pay attention at the pump...

I personaly know of one person that had problems similiar to traxtermax and it was directly related to ethanol and not treating his fuel system prior to short term storage...
Absolutely. I never figured I'd be gone for 6+ months. We responded to an out of state emergency phone call and barely had time to pack.
Normally, I use Stabil when winterizing (or summerizing the snow blower) and never had a problem. I'm going to try Seafoam this year because the claims seem to be better--we'll see.
