Sanitizing fresh water system in the 5er

OK, I have been doing this the same way since I got my 5er in 2007. So I guess it's time to ask the question. The way I understand the instructions in my manual, I am suppossed to mix 1/4 cup of bleach with one gallon of water per 10 gallon capacity of my fresh water holding tank. In my case, (30 gallon tank), I would do this 3 times, add it to the fresh water tank, then fill the tank with fresh water. This gives me 3/4 cup of bleach to 30 gallons water. Is that enough bleach to sanitize the system? I have a hard time smelling the bleach solution as it runs out the faucets. I then let it sit for 3 hours, then flush the system. AmI doing this right?

East harbor state park, Ohio

Looking to stay at East harbor state park in Ohio the first weekend in August. we have stayed there before, but always in a full hookup site. Unfortunatly, all are reserved. So, looking for a pull through electric site in the B section. Can anyone suggest a site # that they like in this section? Are the electric sites just that, no water?

I was looking to make on line reservations at Fort Wilderness for June 2013. Website said can't do so until Jan. 1. If I call Disney reservation, can I reserve prior to Jan. 1?

Replacing sealant around pass thru storage door

I have water leaking into my storage compartment on my 2007 Coachman 5er. I would like to remove the door, remove old sealant and replace it with new sealant to see if this solves the problem. Am I correct to use butyl tape for this project?

RE: Hocking Hills SP or KOA?

We have stayed at the Hocking Hills KOA twice and really enjoy it. It is our favorate KOA. Although we have not tent camped there, we have seen the tent sites. They are secluded from the camper sites and appear to have privacy and space between the next site. I don't think you will be dissappointed.

What's your opinion?

I have been enjoying looking at all the folks posting their campsite photos on this forum. Many times I notice smaller campers (travel trailers, not people) occupying a full hookup site when all they are using are W/E. Do you find it rude to take up a full hook-up site when you do not really need it and someone else might? I'm kinda on the fence on this one.

Time for new battery?

Winterized the 5er and removed the battery a couple of weeks ago. Topped off the battery and put it on the battery tender as I do every winter. Noticed today that there has been liqiud (battery acid?) leaking out from the fill ports and onto the work bench. Is this a sign that I need to replace the battery or could I have just topped off the battery too much? I have had the same battery since I bought the 5er in 07.
Thanks.

Extended Warranty

Posted this question on my diesel forum, but have not gotten much response. I am looking at buying an extended warranty from Route 66 warranty co. (through my credit union) for my 2003 GMC 2500HD D/A. Is their anything that I should specificaly look for in their coverage that pertains to diesels? It does say it covers fuel injectors, which I know are a problem with my model year. 3 years/36k miles for $2300.

Looking for a seasonal site for 2012 in N.E. Ohio

Looking for a campground in North East Ohio for a seasonal site in 2012. Family friendly with a pool. We have never tried a seasonal site before, but think we might give it a try and get more use out of the camper. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Help choosing new shocks

I have decided it is time to replace my oem shocks on my 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 HD D/A. I have decided to go with the Monroe brand, but not really sure which type to get. I use the truck for everyday driving and would like to get rid of the back end jumping/skipping when i hit a bump or pothole. I also tow my 5er with this truck. I have gotten advise on either the Monroe Relex or the Monroe sensa-trac. Any suggestions?

RE: Tell me it's not my injectors

My oil pressure is fine. I do notice that the truck has been idling rough. I have always used stanadyne fuel additive. we just returned from a trip to NY, so maybe I got a bad batch of fuel. I will try to eliminate all other possible problems before I concede to have the injectors replaced.

RE: Tell me it's not my injectors

IB516. My exhaust does not look anything like what your video shows. I just noticed a very light white smoke coming from my exhaust when I was backing my 5er into the driveway, but then it stopped. Now, I notice a puff of black smoke from my exhaust upon startup. Wondering if this could be the beginning of the end for my injectors. 80,000 miles on the truck.

Tell me it's not my injectors

I own a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD D/A 4x4. Recently, I have noticed a small amount of white smoke from the exhaust and now it appears to be getting darker. This is not all the time, but intermittent. Could it be my injectors? I have noticed no loss of power. The only mod I have made was a 4 inch exhaust which I installed about 6 months ago.

What brand of shocks

Well, it is time (or past due) to replace the OEM shocks on my 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD D/A 4X4. What brand would you recommend? This is my everyday vehicle as well as my vehicle used to tow my 5er.

front cap warping

I have recently noticed some warping to the front cap of my 5er. mostly just beneath one of the marker lights. any idea as to what could be causing this? I just re-sealed around the marker light after doing some periodic roof maintainance.
