RE: Steering wheel is crooked

I pulled my stearing wheel off and straightened it put back on tightened nut all done 5 minutes!!That won't work with an F53. Reread Elias' post on subject. For older F53's there is a TSB for steering wheel adjustment.

RE: can 30 amps run 2 13500 ACs

We run both AC's on 30 Amp all the time with EMS. Depending on quality of the park AC, sometimes it takes 5 minutes before both are cooling at max.

RE: The economy must be improving

In some regions the economy has stabilized and for some that represents an improvement, for others it is stagnate. Personally, I feel we are headed for another downturn, how far the drop is will depend on the stupidity of the people in power, no matter who they are.

RE: Windshield - exterior sunscreens

I believe what we have are the Sunguards from the RV Toy Store. We didn't buy them, PO did. What ever you do do not get them with snaps or twist locks unless you like standing on a tippy ladder on uneven ground, it can get very interesting. Because we have the snaps do not use them as often as we would like. Buy them with the velcro.

RE: Tire Question

I can not for the world of me figure why a person would spend 50-60 grand for a MH then get cheap when it comes time to replace $4-5k for tires and have piece of mind when driving on a trip NOT to mention the safety of friends and family on the road. I/we got $20ooo rig and I can,t afford NOT to put tires on after 5-6 yrs--Maybe I am getting old and crabby but thats my opinion--RichPenney Wise and Pound Foolish comes to mind.:S

RE: Hartford (AARP) insurance

I once asked my insurance agent about the AARP/Hartford price for our vehicles and homeowners insurance. The AARP price was higher than I was paying at the time. The AARP insurance purchased from a local Hartford agent is definitely more money. When purchased online is where the biggest savings occur. No commission for an agent.

RE: 7.5x16D Tire Replacment

Careful inspection by a qualified person and you may be able to have a larger tire than stock. The stock tire on our 83 SW that we had was the same as yours, upon inspection it easily accomodated 235/85/16's. The extra width helped driving stability, and the P30 needs all the help it can get.

RE: Need roof hole

What a novel idea: Another hole in the roof of the RV. Not on a bet, by the extra cable and use the existing hole.:S

RE: Tires in Idaho or Montana?

Since the OP'er lives in Alberta, I would think he would be better served if he purchased his tires there. Granted they probably are cheaper in the states, but what if there is a warranty problem? I like LS for its service, but I think that they would be hard pressed to warranty a tire in Canada.

RE: Just because there has been a leak....

Some water leaks can be true nightmares to repair, while others can be very simple to repair. On our 1st MH after completing the roof repairs, I became very adept at using OxyClean and a stiff brush.:b

RE: Motorhome Insurance Through Hartford (AARP)

I'm sure Allstate is doing it, but not for long-term customers like us. I certainly haven't seen any unusual changes in premium that would have given that impression. You wouldn't unless your credit went south of the border.

RE: Mountain driving

They called and said there was a significant temperature differential between the top of the rad and the bottom and they recommended a rod and core as there appeared to be a restriction inside the rad.
This seems like flawed logic. If the radiator is dissipating heat correctly, shouldn't the coolant temperature decline as it flows from top to bottom? Thus the radiator its self will be significantly cooler on the bottom.
Richard
This has my attention since your post. :)If the radiator is sinificantly hotter on the top of the core than on the bottom, that would be an indication of poor flow and the radiator would need to be 'rodded out' or recored.

RE: Motorhome Insurance Through Hartford (AARP)

We've been with them now for 10 years. House, MHs, boat and autos. Easy to do business with via internet. Only claims so far have been windshields, almost 1 a year.

RE: goodyear tires

Well KDK, let me LOL if you think Michelin customer service is any better.
At least with GY you weren't having blowouts at 65 MPH or more like so many people with Michelin's were having and for the most part Michelin told all those people it was underinflation, overinflation, or they had hit something. In otherwords it was "CUSTOMER ABUSE" so 'go suck air' because in Michelin's mind they have never built a defective tire.

RE: goodyear tires

GY has zero customer suypport and still produce the worst RV tire ever made.
The same thing can be said about Michelin. So best not look at the two top selling manufacturers.

RE: St Tires VS LT Tires

I have decided to go with the XPS Rib 235x85R16 Michelin tire. They are expensive at $300 each but I feel better with that tire than I do with the LT series. When did Michelin start making a non LT rated tire in the XPS model line?:h

RE: Two 6 volt GC Batteries, OR, two type 24 batteries?

The love affair some people have with 6 volt batteries I find amazing. With that being said, if you have room for 4 batteries and do a lot of boondocking than that is probably the best route. If you only have room for two than 12 volt batteries are probably the smart way to go. Nothing worse than loosing a 6 volt battery while camping in the middle of no where and having to obtain another battery on a Sunday and the closest one available is up a rough dirt road 50 miles away.Of course you could just cut the 3 day weekend good bye and go home. Not my idea of fun, so I did the 50 mile drive.
