RE: An unscrupulous dealer strikes again.

We seen the same thing at the RV show in Monroe, MI sponsored by General RV and it was not just TT but on 5ers. When I asked a salesman about it all he said it would pull the rig but when I asked further about if it was safe he walked off.
-----------------------
Two years ago a fellow camper friend of mine bought a 34 foot LaCrosse trailer and is using his ½ ton Ford pick up to pull it. Had no problems going down I-75 to Florida. On the way back he leaves us to pick up his Grandkids in Virginia. There he drives through the mountains. After over an hour of white-knuckling it he said he will never drive through mountains again. His engine was screaming going up the mountian and he was scared to death coming down. And yes the saleslady at General RV (Wixom, MI) said it could pull. Pulling is no problem. Handling & stopping is.
If you've never towed the Mountains, ANY rig is going to be white knuckle the first trip through, not a fair comparision

RE: sticking bathroom door

Check the hinges, make sure they aren't coming loose from the door or frame,
Make sure you're not cranking the stabilizers down to far, will twist the frame and make doors shift and stick, from experience

RE: Is this reasonable?

We are newbies and have never winterized a camper. There is a service that winterizes campers in the campground we are putting our seasonal in. They are quoting $105 to winterize (including blowing out the lines) and to put the cover on. Is this reasonable? We are not very "do it yourselfers". I have also read on here that covers are a major pain to put on and transporting a ladder to the camper would also be an issue. Please advise your opinions! Thanks!
105 Pluss the cover? $105.00, for 15 min work? Where do I sigh up? Yes it's a rip off. The lonngest part of the whole thing is standing there waiting on the WH to drain. The rest takes about 5 min. As for the cover. I wouldn't put one on.Can you be here tomorrow at 2PM? You won't even have to put a cover on. Just bring your compressor, the pink stuff and your guarantee if you miss something you will repair it. I seriously doubt you will make profit traveling to Montana and back getting paid $105.00 Somehow people forget that the tech has to travel, pay for his fuel, travel back to the shop, load and bring the supplies, cover his insurance, vehicle, tools, other expenses, and make some income. It is never about the absolute costs of a job, it is everything that goes into making it possible for the tech to do the job.
HURRAY !!Someone that finally understands, it's not simply just the cost of goods, but the entire cost of getting the job done,
And by the way, Just had our Heating and cooling guy here today, fan quit working, he was here a total of 15 minutes, charged me 89.95 "Trip Charge" and 2.95 for the fuse,,,,,WHAT A CROOK

RE: Recourse against power co tree trimmers?

Why didn't they use the right of way to get to the power lines? They may or may not fix it because it's pasture land. They do have a right to get to the power lines with no recourse.
Like the OP said, it is land locked, I have the same situation on my property, There is a storm sewer that runs underground at the back of my property,All properties on both sides of the sewer have a 20 foot right of way for the city, I have a couple of manholes in my back yard that the city has access to regardless of my opinion, they don't even have to ask.
Works much the same way for powerline arteries, written into the abstact at the courthouse

RE: I write a check and they do a draft instead of cashing it

I think it is Krogers that is testing a system where you scan items with your smartphone as you shop. A totally automatic system scan bag head directly to your car.
That will work about as well as the self check outs are working,Many of the Walmarts around here are not using them like they first did, maybe one at each end of the store with someone standing over your back.
I remember when Food 4 Less opened here when I was a kid, they handed you a red grease pencil to write the shelf price on every item, they went back to label guns after several months of near bankrupt

RE: ****Tying the awning down?****

I usually find it's shifting on the tube as it is not anchored tight in any way, Next time it's down and you are sure the arms are square, mark the tube with permanent marker or dab of paint on the tube at the edge of the fabric. You'll be surprised how much it can shift and how easy it is to center before retracting

RE: New 5.0 F150

Bought a new S-crew FX-4 in March with the 6 speed auto and 5.0,
I have pulled 3 nice trips and a few short local trips an it is
FREAKIN AWESUM, the 6 speed overdrive operates great in tow/haul mode and the select shift allows you to lock into a lower gear for climbs, like 4th for a long steep at 3000 rpm, no slipping up a gear to bog down.
FYI My Zinger weighs in at 6400 empty and usually pull at around 7500 loaded
LOVE the truck

Rust streaks on EPDM Roof?

Appears to be a couple of severe?? streaks 1/2 inch wide and length of area from the air conditioner to side of the camper. Are dry and smooth, (not rough as if eating at rubber) just a stain.
Anyone else getting these? Looks like a rusted nut or bolt at the start of one of them above it in the conditioner cover frame?
Anything to worry about or how do u remove rust stains from roofing?

RE: What are the long squiggly lines running down highway

See them alot in asphalt, black top, in fact our city etches our new overlays. I believe it is similar to cutting expansion joints in concrete to assist in keeping the asphalt from buckling in crack prone areas, like when they mill a bad area of pavement and still have cracks below the overlayment, the groove will allow the asphalt to crack to release pressure rather than balloon and blow out

RE: Another reason for a storm shelter

I have done post-tornado cleanup.. I've seen several inch thick concrete walls that.. Well.. Were no more. Just so you know
NOTHING in nature can match a tornado for violence, NOTHING, it's the most violent storm there is.
I guess it depends on if you consider geologic action part of "nature."
Tsunamis have killed 130,000 souls this decade. I doubt tornadoes have come close. Three tornadoes have hit a nuclear power plant and 5 hurricanes have. They didn't take them out. A 45 foot wall of water took out 4 of them.
Tornadoes haven't killed people, wiped out harbors and sunk ships from 6,000 miles away. Tsunamis have.
When Mt. St. Helens went off, it sent a 650°F mixture of steam, toxic gas and ash flying down the side of the mountain at 700 MPH. For the first 3 miles not only were the trees uprooted, the soil was picked away clear down to rock, hundreds of feet of it in some cases.
Nothing says "I don't want your house there" like rolling it over with 1900°F river of lava.
Have to disagree on that, Your Tsunami and lava flow are 'Reactions'to an event, not the storm itself.
Tornados are by far the most violent, pinpointed storms on earth
