RE: first tow - 2005 F250 Powerstroke impressions

45Ricochet, thanks for the shout-out. You must try and do all the things Ford did not do right, gauges that work right and tell you something, coolant filter to remove any casting sand, ditching the Ford Gold, check fuel pressure, run a 5w40 Syn oil use Ford or Racor filters only 5k max on the oil because of the shear of the oil by the injectors. Do a lot of reading, no tunes they are maxed out on HP now, you will have a good running motor and once a week drive it like you stole it.
JR
Ford, Racor or (are you sitting down) Fram.

RE: Places to see and visit in BC!!

We toured a great car museum. If my memory serves me right, it was at Peachland.
Summerland.
If you have the time Barkerville would be a great stop.

RE: Slow market or what?

A couple months ago we became owners of two 5th wheels. Someone thought it wouldn't hurt to just look. Anyway I advertised on a local site. Ours was paid for. I priced it at what I thought was a fair price with some room for me to move on my price. This gives some feel good room for the buyer.
When the fellow that bought it came for his first look (he came by 4 or 5 times) I said first I will show you the bad then the good and we can go from there. There was no way I wanted him coming by in a couple weeks saying this or that was wrong. Any issues I knew of he knew of.
I probably could have gotten more but I got more than my bottom price.
I think maybe location and time of year are a couple of big concerns.

RE: Oil changes - DIESEL ONLY

03 F350
Fram filter- 18
Oil - 18 Dino or 29 syn.
Using syn is normally just shy of 150 bucks.

RE: Your Rig

This is a shot of our new to us 2006 Jayco. Funny thing is when I left home that day doing another errand I somehow ended up buying it. We will be picking it up sometime in April.

And when the weather improves this is what I plan on doing on a regular basis.

Gone and done it now.

So last Saturday I get up and my wife says I found this awesome 5th wheel on the internet. I say I didn't know we were looking.
Of course now the wheels are turning in my head, so I make a phone call. Nope sorry it's been sold. It should have stopped there or so I thought.
I had to go out of town on Wednesday to pick up one of those portable garage things for one of my projects.
The salesman that told me the other one is sold said we do have this other one.. I tell him I will be in the area so I'll stop in. Now there are a few dealers within the area so I think I'm going to stop at one and see what they have.
Well someone else had one. They had an 07 Prowler with the big slide. They also had an 06 Jayco with the bedroom slide. I was paying the most attention to the Prowler at the time.
I go look at the other one which was a KZ. It was just too much 5th wheel and I didn't like some of the things I saw. The first dealer I stopped at is on the way home so I stopped in again and asked what payments and etc. would be on Jayco and the Prowler. After that I headed home.
So yesterday around 3pm. I call and say we would like to go for the Jayco. Go big or go home I guess. I got a call this morning and was told all is approved.
We now own two 5th wheels totaling 66.3'. The Jayco is a 301RLS. It weighs in just shy of 9,000 lbs. Our Tahoe came in just shy of 7,500 lbs. Am I going to notice any huge difference with that extra weight?

RE: I Need a history lesson on slides

We have a 98. It is a hydraulic slide. As long as there isn't a fluid loss it can be moved back in. We have had no issues.

RE: 5th Wheel Backup cameras

I don't know the brand of my rear camera on our 5th wheel. It was a wired model that was on the unit when we purchsed it. The wires were cut at the pin. I have a dvd in my dash. I used a 4 pin plug and wired it to the dvd with the plug by the 7 pin plug. The third picture is the power switch for the camera.

RE: Ram Trucks Would Like To Thank Ricatic

Is it true that Dodge is giving away a free puppy with the purchase of a new Ram?
Ok that made me laugh. That offer probably would have gotten my intrest.
Nice truck by the way.
On a side note, I saw a dually mega cab the other day. It looked pretty nice and I'm not a dually fan yet.

RE: Does anyone have any snow yet?

No snow yet in south central BC
Just a little on the mountains around us, but nothing in the valley.
Got to love that for not being able to go south this year.
I was there a couple weeks ago. Felt like a different country. We on the other hand have snow and have had it for some time now.

RE: Feedback from those of you who have purchased used diesels

I bought my 03 F350 about 3 1/2 years ago. It had some issues turbo, engine, injectors. I got it for a decent price. I still have it today. I replaced all the injectors shortly after the purchase. I believe most of the issues were caused by the previous owners lack of regular/preventative maintanice.
I would love to move into an 08 or newer but can't find any that make me want to get rid of this one.
After the injector replacement it took a fair bit of time to gain the trust back.
I think the only way I would buy new is if I won the lottery.

I did this with my last truck. Many will take a penny and grind it to the correct shape. I used tin foil then some epoxy to seal it all back up.

RE: Are your dogs excited to go camping

As like you folks, "wanna go campin'" sets up a frenzy with our dogs. The first time we took Buddy, a stray, desert camping he dissappeared while we were setting up. He didn't come when called so I started to think he caught a scent of a coyote or lion and took off. Not good. I went to the truck to get the keys to the Prowler to go look for him and found him curled up on the front seat. He didn't want to get out of the truck. I thought it strange that he didn't come when called or even get on the seat until the next morning when I took them both for a walk. About the time we got out of sight of camp he ran back even though I called him. I believe dogs have a reason for everything they do. My thought was, in the miserable life he had before he adopted us that he was dropped off in the desert and he figured it wasn't going to happen again if he could avoid it. He's been with us long enough to have confidence that he finally has a perminate home and enjoys walks, campfires and everything connected with desert camping for a dog..... (The sub-humans that would drop an animal off in the desert are the same one's that are allowed to vote. No wonder we're in the shape we're in).... IMO..
Great story.
Ours love camping and they know what is happening when we start packing. We have a favorite spot to go. Upon arrival I have to open the windows so they can get their treats from the owners. Once we pull off the highway into the driveway they know exactly where we are.
