RE: 2009 Ram 1500 Towing

Anybody have an idea of what to expect when I hook up the trailer to it because of the rear suspension. Will it be a tail dragger even with the wdh? There won't be too much in the bed. It is a similar suspension set up to the suburban but the burban only squats two inches in the rear and an inch and a half in the front. All of that being said I did spend am entire afternoon in an empty parking lot getting the burban set up.

RE: 2009 Ram 1500 Towing

Thanks to everyone who replied. I appreciate all of the feedback.
If I pick up the Ram this will be my first Non - GM product so I am a little apprehensive. In the small town I grew up in about one in every 3 people were employed by GM - including several of my family members. If I am being honest almost all of my previous GM vehicles have not been close to problem free (w/ the exception of an 04 Envoy)
I understand the 3.55 and the 20" wheels take away from the capacities. But the Big Horn package makes the truck look very nice.
We are essentially weekend warriors and only tow about 800-1K miles a year. The rest of the time this will be my daily driver and to be honest it is a much better ride than the other trucks I have tested(tundra / silverado) on par w\/ my current suburban.
All of that being said, my families safety is paramount and I ask the questions because I want as much information as I can possibly gather to make an informed decision. So I appreciate the feeback and if there is more.......keep it coming.

RE: 2009 Ram 1500 Towing

Thanks for the input so far.
This is all somewhat disconcerning. It is my wife and I along w/ two young boys. The TT weighs approx 6500 ready to camp. We only camp about 5 times a year w/ the longest trip being 150 miles one way.
All that being said....I want to make sure I am not pushing it.

2009 Ram 1500 Towing

Hey Guys!,
I've asked several questions in regards to potential vehicles and think I have finally found one I like.
Tomorrow I think I am going to wrap up a 2009 RAM 1500 Crew Cab with the Hemi, 20" wheels, and the 3.55 rear end. Would prefer the 3.92. The truck feels fantastic and rides as well as my Suburban which I will be trading in. I should also mention that the dealer agreed to extend the lifetime powertrain warranty to me - will be getting that in writing.
Anybody have any towing experience with these?
Just looking for a little last min feedback.

RE: 2007 Suburban Trans Temps while towing

Just to clarify I meant exchange as well.
Not sure I am comfortable w/ the excess pressure and solvents being pumped through......no personal experiences but a lot of horror stories out there.

RE: 2007 Suburban Trans Temps while towing

I also have an 07 Burb (See Signature).
When towing our TT (Also in Signarure) I am usually between 188-198. At times I can get around 200-205 depending on ambient temps. I will say the majority of my towing is very flat cruising aroud 65mph.
I had always wondered what other Burb owners 2007+ see when they are towing.
I have been flirting w/ the idea of adding a larger aftermarket cooler but it seems like mine is running in an acceptable range. If anybody else can chime in I would like to hear it as well.
Also, I have the tranny flushed annualy.....maybe a little excessive but it helps w/ piece of mind.

RE: 2007 Tundra 4.7 - Towing Experiences

So in your opinions....could an 07 w/ the 4.7 drivetrain in it handle a 5500 lb 30' travel trailer? At least better than my 07 Suburban.

2007 Tundra 4.7 - Towing Experiences

Hey Guys!
We'll be picking up a 2007 Tundra Crew Cab 4WD this weekend. It has the 4.7 in it. Not really looking to make it our primary tow vehicle but wondering if anybody does tow w/ the 4.7 Tundra. Travel Trailer weighs approx 6000lbs ready to camp. Also, aside from the engine is the drive train the same as the 5.7?...I seem to remember the 5.7 being a 6 speed tranny and the 4.7 being a 5 speed? Rear ends the same?
Looking for honest opinions and real world experiences......
Thanks!!
