RE: Dental work @ Rio Dental in Juarez, Mex

Haven't been to Mexico for work myself, but all the time I spent in the RGV, the folks down there go over to Nuevo Progresso. You park on the US side and walk over the bridge and all the pharmacies and clincs are right in the plaza along with some very helpful tourista police.
Haven't been down there this year, so I assume it's still a quiet little town. Everyone says to avoid Matamoros and Reynosa.

RE: Banking while on the road

Our local bank allows us to do internet banking. No problem paying bills by check. Transferring funds among savings and checking. Check with your bank and see what they offer.
Same here, they write and send the checks for us. However, besure you watch how many times you transfer from savings to checking on line. There is a limit (Federal Banking law). It's six per billing cycle.

What's the best way for securing a new fitting on the pex tubing lines if you don't have one of the $30 crimping tools?

Have a couple of questions.
1st: what are BKF and TSP?
2nd: with this being a floor finish, does it yellow after a time?

RE: stabilizers for 35 foot fifth wheel

Don't know the price of all the stabilizers, but I used PlugItRight and they work great along with the rotochoks. Also the PlugIt Right people give great customer service. I was a bit of a novice in getting the fine tuning down and they talked me through it on the phone and checked back with me to make sure everything worked out.

RE: How long did your st tires last?

I got a bit over one year out of a set of Maxxis ST tires before they started to separate. They were replaced with Greenball ST tires and they didn't last nine months before separating and tearing up some J-wrap. (Greenball all but laughed at me when I called to see if they would help with the damage repair).
Replaced all with BFG Commerical T/A and they've been on over 15 months.
I am not near max weight (CAT scale ticket) and rarely drive over 60. Generally around 57.
Can't say I'm a tire expert, but this was my experience with ST tires.

RE: Leveling the 5er.......

I've used everything from wood to plastic blocks to air bags. Lately I use a cut up stall mat. It's rubber and I cut it wide enought and long enough to have a margin of error. Yes, they are only 3/4 " thick, but I generally do not need more than one or two. The most I've used is 3. I got 5 cuts from the mat bought at the feed store. They stay in the back of the pickup and the rain and weather won't hurt them. They are also easier for my wife to handle when she wants to help.
Not saying this is "The" method, but just another way of doing it for someone looking at all alternatives.

RE: Husky Hitch

There are pros and cons of each style. I had the Reese 16K slider with the clamshell jaws and loved it. Once you understand how the hitch and hitching process works, you wont worry about dropping the rig on the truck bed.
Hitch info and links:

Here the 4 styles most are familiar with:

Agree. If you follow the instructions from the manufacturer, any hitch will provide you with years of service.
I've watched people use all sorts of proceedures in hooking up with a Reese and then complain when they have a problem. They either didn't read or more than likely, someone gave them the wrong advice on how to us it.

RE: fender repair

If your talking about the aluminum lower panels then the best way is to make a template and take it to a sheet metal shop and have them roll a piece to match your template.
Thanks, Lower panels. I couldn't tell if they were aluminum or not.

RE: fender repair

Maybe I am calling the wrong name, it's the curved metal hanging down from the body that is before and after the plastic fenders over the tires. Doesn't seem to serve any purpose except for appearance.

fender repair

Hope this is the right forum. I'm going to try and repair the damage down by tire blowouts on the thin metal fenders of a 5th wheel. I need to know what type and size of metal to be looking for and the best way to bend it. Any info will be appreciated.

RE: Natchez Trace

Have only travelled from the southern end to the Tennessee border and liked the southern end. However, the middle part wasn't bad either. Some day I will go on the Tennessee end, I've heard it's beautiful.

RE: Texas Hill Country roads

Thanks to all for the info. Took the 470 route from Bandera to Utopia and the only place that was even worth talking about was a little area called Seco Pass and that was only 1/4 to maybe 1/2 mile of 6-7% grade with a couple of mild curves. That was between Tarpley and Utopia. The 1050 road from Utopia to the Rio Frio only had a couple of very mild hills.
Any of you guys like to ride motorcycles, will love all of those roads. They are scenic. The 337, 335 and 336 roads are nicknamed the twisted sisters.

RE: Texas Hill Country roads

The road in that area you don't want to take is Rt. 16 south out of Kerrville. That's where the switch backs are, over Medina Mt. We live about 3 miles south of there and drive it several times a week. We won't pull our 29.5 5er over Medina Mt..always go out thru Medina on 2828 to 173 when we leave.
Thanks.
I just arrived a few minutes ago in Medina and came on the 173/2828 route.
Are you at a CG in Medina? If so, where?

I just arrived a few minutes ago in Medina and came on the 173/2828 route. If 470 and 1050 aren't any worse than 2828, then no problem.
Of course my driving habits may have a lot to do with the route. I don't mind going 45 or 50. I'm retired and not in a hurry.
