RE: Plugged into 50amp, getting 30amp

X2 on the park wiring being wrong. They've wired both hot legs of the plug to the same 120 volt source. Likely their problem, not yours. Measure across the two side slits and you should read ~240 volts, each side to ground (round) should be 120V. If wrong they need to fix, not you.

RE: Inspection Stickers- Texas

Any state sticker place can do motorhomes, motorcycles, as well as cars. I use "Quicker Sticker" or similar quick in/out places. They never drive it, just check lights, horn, wipers, etc. I had one have me do the airbrake leakdown test, but that was a fluke and at a truck stop type place.

RE: Colorado campgrounds

Clear Creek RV Park, downtown Golden, CO. Right on the river, lots to do, walking distance to restaurants and nightlife, but secluded RV park on the river. Easy drive to Denver and lots of easy day trips in the area.

RE: Maximum pressure available from your air system?

I routinely use mine to air up 120 PSI tires on my motorhome, similarly lower PSI tires on cars, trailer, motorcycle, etc. For all but the motorhome I may not even need to start the engine, the residual air reserve stays fairly high for quick air ups.

RE: Inccreasing gray water capacity

Agree with BigSkyBob: Transfer gray to black by putting a transfer hose or valve from one to the other, open gray, then black and cut off black when transfer slows. I do it all the time, with some minor conservation, it buys you a couple days on the same freshwater amount and we shower every day.

RE: Coach shuts down when turn signal given.

Check the master light controller, mine is on the firewall behind the brake pedal. Mine went bad and caused some similar strange symptoms when the turn signals were used. About a $500, 10 minute fix.

RE: Baltimore, MD RV Parks

Great recommendations, now I'll do some internet research about them, plot them on Google Earth, etc. and plan a trip. My daughter also mentioned the Baltimore State Fairgrounds. Any input on that location? We're just looking for basic camping and hookups, don't really need any typical RV resort amenities. Thanks for all the help! - Tony

Baltimore, MD RV Parks

Anybody have any recommendations? Daughter moved there recently and we're planning a trip to visit, but can't seem to find any nearby RV camping areas. She's living on the north-northwest side, but we don't mind a reasonable drive back and forth.

RE: Diesel started using oil

Brett & Jim - Overfilling isn't the problem. I've had this rig several years now, do my own oil and filter changes and have calibrated the dipstick (it was actually correct) based on what CAT told me about the correct oil quantity. This is sudden and unusual oil usage, literally 6 quarts in a trip of 600 miles, about a gallon or two per full day of driving. I've extended the breather tube back behind the radiator and am not noticing any oil drips out of it - some light smoke when the engine is hot and has been running. This appears to be something new, something sudden that cropped up on recent trip. I've had to replace three injectors over the last three years or so, I'm wondering if another is going bad, though I've not noticed any loss of power like I did in the past.
Other ideas?

Diesel started using oil

On a recent trip my rig suddenly started using oil at a rate of about a quart every 100 miles or so. I can't find any leaks, there doesn't seem to be anything spitting out of the breather tube (extended to the back of the rig), nor any noticeable additional smoke when going down the road. The engine still starts easily, runs well, has power, etc.
It's a 2004 Itasca Meridian 36G with the CAT 330hp C7 engine.
Any ideas of what it could be?

RE: RV Parks Close to El Paso Tx.

Mission RV, I've stayed there a couple of times. Though it's by the highway, I didn't find it noisy at all. Level, paved, secure, ammenities, convenient to downtown, Freightliner maintenance within a mile or so, etc. That's where I'll stay next time I'm in town.

RE: my toilet doesn't hold water in bowl

Thedford makes a seal conditioner, I get it at Camping World. I make sure I put a quarter inch or so in the toilet anytime I'm letting the RV sit for more than a couple days. Not only restores the seal but keeps it in good shape, so far.

RE: Reverse Osmosis Water Causes Toothache??

I'm no dentist, but I did sleep in an RV last night:
I'm guessing the RO system takes the fluoride out of the water. I'd try using a sensitivity toothpaste or mouthwash with fluoride as long as you are on the RO water system.

RE: Thetford black tank dump slide valve leaking. Update.

Easy to replace. You can get new ones at any RV supply store, I got mine at Camping World - about $12-15 each as I recall. I swapped them both at the same time, you've got it all apart, why not.
For the valves, 4 screws/bolts out, 4 back in. Screwdriver and pliers or small wrench is all you need. I had to loosen a couple pipe clamps to get some slack to get them out, but still not a big, nor bad (as long as the tanks are empty - and rinsed if possible - before starting.

RE: R. V. Park in mission,Tx

I always stay at Chimney Park when I'm in Mission. It's right on the river, but safe since the boat ramp there is where the Border Patrol launches 24X7. Nice, quiet park, well kept, good fishing, and nice folks. Location-wise it's got good access to Mission, McAllen or down the Valley to Progresso or South Padre Island.

RE: nuevo progreso - arturo's

Still open last summer when we were there, still fantastic. These days I'll walk over instead of driving and try to be back on the US side by about 9PM, though so far there has been no problems in Progresso. I highly recommend it, and plan to go back when I'm in the Valley in late January! I've been going there for 50 years, and still will. They've opened one in Weslaco too, downtown on Texas Avenue, but it's not near as good. Enjoy! - Tony
