RE: Tire Pressure Monitors

Small price compared to my damage.
You don't know how many times this has been said over the years, but some still think they can beat the odds.

RE: Rim Pressures

I've seen many broken wheels that fractured on 5th wheels from twisting and ripping the center bolt mount right out of the wheel. I've seen the aluminum wheels broken from hitting pot holes or curbs and have chunks missing. I've seen the aluminum wheels leak air from minute pore casings leaks, and steel wheels leak air from poor welds. But never saw a steel/aluminum wheel explode from too much air pressure. It may happen a lot, but I have never seen it nor has anyone had a wheel to show me that it "exploded".

RE: Tire Monitors

The owners at TST have been outstanding in helping folks understand that knowing what is happening to your tires while your driving is extremely important. They have a product that does what it says it will do for a reasonable price. They stand behind that product and have shown here and on other forums that they are here for the long run. Easy to use product, simple to install normally, some wheels are a bit more trying than others, and it gives reliable information. I've been using the TST system since before it was called TST, it was called Saf-Tee before TST took it over and refined & improved it. I'm very happy with the TST system.

RE: TST tire pressure monitor: is "repeater" needed?

I mounted mine at the bottom front of the trailer so the power cord would easily go into the battery box.

RE: Tire Monitoring Systems

It will work perfectly and you will know what is happening to the tires on the toad as you drive. Great investment with a excellent company.

RE: What tire pressure monitor to buy?

The temp on the TST is pre-set at 157, leave that there, it will give plenty of warning should a heat issue arise. As far as low goes from 80 psi I would go to 70, as some cold mornings/nights the tire could drop that far even with 80 in it. High I would set 95 as it climbing 10 to 12psi is not out of the question when driving in the summer heat. Should either of the settings give alarms, reset to a few psi up or down to not give the warnings needlessly.
What base line are you guys setting for top and bottom end for a dually truck?
As in, if your running 80psi what high and what low are you using? And what temp?
Thanks for any help.

RE: question about mor ryde independent suspension

The IS is the system I will have on my next trailer, as it is the best in my opinion. Call them and talk about why they think it is the best and tell them what your comparing them with. Get the real answers from the experts.

RE: Step Rugs

""Here is what I found a couple of years ago when I went to replace my worn-out carpet step covers......extensive rust and paint degradation.....you be the judge?""
That is a very poor powder coating job and has the exact same look of some trailer hitches. The step covers being on there didn't cause that in my opinion.

RE: Well I did it. $2,000 hit cab of truck forgot to use slider

Your hitch probably would have worked fine, if you had used it? The automatics do work without any input by you, but your also going to really pay for that service.

RE: TST vs TireTraker

TST has a great track record for almost 5 years they have been around. I would go with a proven unit with a strong customer base if I was looking for a pressure monitoring system.

RE: HENSLEY OR PROPRIDE

I had a Hensley and loved it, got a friend to buy the Pro-Pride, and he loves it. I think if I ever get a different trailer, I will look to buy the PP. Sean is great and really takes care of his customers, not that Hensley doesn't but that is what I think I will do.

RE: FW Brake Screech, or what's the problem?

Mine did the same thing so pulled the wheel, then the drum and found the clips that kept the magnet in place gone. Have no idea how it could disappear, but it was not there. Bought a packet of new clips and replaced the missing one and the noise went away. Also checked for adjustment of the brakes while I had the trailer jacked up, took a few minutes and might as well do it while you working there. If the noise was 'normal' they all would be doing it, not just one.

RE: Best name for a dog?

Had a puppy that ate everything off the floor, I wanted to name him Kirby, Dyson or Hoover, like a walking vacuum cleaner. I got voted down and he became Cruiser the Bruiser a 95lb German Shepherd. Now have a 65lb Shepherd named Travis the Twit.

The problem with this question is your assuming folks have actually weighed their rig, so many never have.

RE: JC Penney ad on TV is .....

I wrote to customer service and complained about that commercial. I was told I was the only one to write? You have to be kidding me. I said I disliked it so much we were going out shopping and I would guarantee that we would NOT shop at JCP. I then wrote again to let them know we spent just over $400 on our shopping trip and not one penny was in their store because of the commercial they were running. Their loss, as it is a nice store, but they won't be getting my money.

RE: Rear axle ratio 1999 Durango

I have a 1999 Dodge Durango Magnum V8 5.9 L engine. I found a towing guide that states it could tow 7400 lbs with a "rear axle ratio of 3.92" Where do I find information on what my axle ratio is? I looked in the owners manual and couldn't find the answer and also on the door sticker. Thanks in advance.
I had a 5.9 in my 1999 Durango and it pulled great, and I did have the 3.9 gear. Hope yours does too.

RE: TireDog Tire Pressure Monitoring System

trap: remember also: the sensors and/or the repeater (i dont remember which) will go to sleep after a period of no movement. they wake up after a bit of driving. might wanna keep that tire gauge handy...
If this is true, they wake up after a bit of driving, this would be a huge turn-off. I want to know the tire pressures BEFORE I leave a campsite not down the road a bit.
