RE: Best Route in N. CA
Since it has been more than thirty years, having taken 299 from Weed to the coast in a Honda Civic, I can't accurately recall how tight the road is. However, I do recall driving a tight road down from Quaking Aspens last summer, and after enduring the stress of watching the trailer track over the line, I'm a bit more careful in choosing our routes.
In fact just yesterday while returning from El Cap, I was explaing to my daughter, that the exit suggested by the GPS would not have been navigable with our trailer, and thus why we were taking a different exit. In addition, I think the DMV has a list of highways, and max vehicle lengths. Hopefully, some of the local CA guys will chime in.
