RE: Newbie TC dolly question

I built a really simple one with 2x2x3/16 angle iron rectangular frame and a few 2x6" wood crossmembers for my Bronco popup. The swivel wheels have steel rollers rather than plastic/poly/whatever. I didn't want any flat spots on the wheels after the camper had been sitting on them all winter. I'm guessing I paid less than $100 for everything.

RE: Palomino popups are really cheap. So......

I have a 2007 1251B and it has the hard flip down back panel. Didn't mind it at first until I banged my head on it when I was inside with the top down. The canvas panel sounds interesting, does it look like an easy upgrade to the old style?

RE: Portable Generators-Who's using what & pro's/con's

Boiley Generator
Happy Reading !
I originally bought the Champion 3000 watt and modified it to get higher amperage out it from one plug but it's way too noisy. Now I use the Honda EU2000i which is much lighter and quieter.
Guess I have a generator fetish, just bought a Hyundai 7250 watt generator because it was on sale........

RE: newbie pop-up questions

We have a Bronco pop-up B1251SB which has the built-in bathroom and it sounds like you're looking for a B1200 or B1500. Without a bathroom, you definitely would have a lot more storage room. As it is, we use the bathroom for our storage. Everything works well but being from the tenting community and into our first camper, the Bronco was a luxury for us. The door on ours hasn't leaked and we were in the heavy rain up in the Quesnel/Barkerville area. The only thing that bothered me was the water dripping off the roof at the back and hitting the footplate on one of the camper jacks. Sounded almost like a bell all night long.
Palomino also makes the equivalent unit with a shorter solid door called the Real-Lite and is sold by Parklane RV in Kelowna. I think this would make the back of the camper a little more solid because the back of the camper isn't cut in half vertically.

Or you can look at the Fourwheel Campers, there's a dealer in the Vancouver area.

RE: stable load 7310

It all makes sense now, guess I'll have to find someone with a lathe to cut the material down to produce a shoulder. Less effort is always better:). The Energy Suspension bumpers look like they're made of rubber and would probably wear out pretty quickly since they're compressed all the time with a load, maybe urethane ones would last longer if they're available. Do you know what the thread on the bumper stud is?
Thanks for the dimensions.
Edit: Just checked the website, they are made of polyurethane. They'll work for me.

RE: stable load 7310

Bigfoot Affair, they look great. I think I'm going to make a set of those and see how it'll work for me. Just a rough guess, are they about 2 1/4" diameter and about 2" high with a 1/2" shoulder and 3/8NC bolts? I don't have access to a lathe so will probably run with 1/2" bolts and not bother with the shoulder.
Do you have the part number for the Energy Suspension bumpers?

RE: stable load 7310

I finally found the video since I do want to get a set for my 2500HD. I'm not sure I like the idea of having the load weight on the edge of the steel plate that rotates under the springs. The originals have a floating pad that will match the angle of the springs. Maybe the ones in the video were just a prototype.

RE: Socket size for Suburban anode rod

This is a little off what the OP was asking. When I bought my Bronco P/U camper, the previous owner had taken and left the anode out and the tank threads were corroded. I cleaned the threads on the anode but could only get about half a turn and didn't want to force it any more. Ended up buying a 3/4NPT tap and using that to clean the threads in the tank.
It leaked when I used pipe tape to put it back together but ended up using plumbers thread sealant which worked well. At least the sealant is usable with potable water. What do people use to keep the threads in the tank from corroding after draining the tank? Or do you just put the anode back in?

RE: camping restrictions for pop-ups?

Here's proof that a bear will get into your camper if it really wanted to, even though it's just a towing camper. The bears are getting smarter, they can slide windows open and know how to open car doors.
Hope this link works

Here's a pic of my truck and camper during our first camping trip. I bought it for my wife and myself but my two teenage daughters wanted to go with us to Barkerville. Made for pretty tight living quarters especially when it rained really hard and the mosquitoes were hungry.

RE: Priming Water Pump

I just went through the same thing on my new-to-me Bronco pop-up camper. I tried all the usual things to get the water flowing but nothing worked. The pump was running but nothing came out the outlet side. Once I pulled the pump apart, I found tiny slivers of plastic that was the same colour as the holding tank. Most likely the tank wasn't cleaned completely when installed and the pump just sucked in the little pieces. Cleaned them all out and it started building pressure as soon as I turned the pump on.
Can you pull off the line on the outlet side of the pump? If the pump doesn't push water out, then the problem is either the pump itself or something is plugging the inlet from the tank.

RE: TC Insurance in Canada...

I was given a guesstimate of around $400 for my Palomino Bronco popup and I paid $7000 for it in October. So I didn't buy insurance since it's still sitting in my garage. Guess I should start asking around too.
