RE: From MI To Yellowstone... What to See and Where To Stop ?

Hi there! How about an alternate route. We're in Sterling Heights and have done the trip to Ystone many times. Our last trip in September we went up 75, through the UP, through Wisc, Minn, North Dakota & Montana entering through Gardiner, MT. It was the best, easiest driving trip we've ever had. No Chicago traffic, construction etc. & according to Streets & Trips it was only about 100 miles further. Not sitting in Chicago & environs traffic was more than worth the extra miles plus you get to travel through you own beautiful state. The roads were great, it didn't take us any longer time-wise than the other routes. When we made the return trip we varied the route, left through the East Entrance (after staying in Grand Tetons), went through South Dakota, then Minn, Wisc and back through the UP. Best trip we ever had. We've been to Y'stone many times and have never gotten tired of the beauth and wonder.

RE: 2010 and 2011 Winnebago Vista 30W Owners

Hey! We'll be in Yellowstone then also. We're leaving Monday, Aug. 22, going through the UP (Michigan's Upper Peninsula) and to Yellowstone that way. We've been to Y'stone five times before but we've never been this route. Our first reservation is at Madison on the 29th, we're moving on to Bridge Bay after a week then are going to wing it after that. Our Vista is brown, white & beige and we'll be towing a black Ford Edge with Michigan plates. Look for us and say Hi!

RE: Colter Bay CG As Home Base To Yellowstone?

You have to remember that the person taking your reservation is probably not at the park and is abiding by the "written" policy. If you want to take a chance and go without reservations, Bridge Bay & Madison absolutley will have spaces that you will fit. If they have openings they will accomodate you. We stayed at Bridge Bay last year and there were some pretty large (40 feet) MH's with toads.

RE: is there such a thing?

Look at the Winnebago Vista. One of the options in the 30 is desk--like area instead of a dinette.

RE: 2010 and 2011 Winnebago Vista 30W Owners

Goldencrazy, we're at Interlochen State Park near Traverse City, right across the street from the world famous Interlochen Music Camp. This is a gem of a park. There are two lakes for fishing, swimming etc. Most of the sites are level and wooded for shade and privacy. Interlochen was Michigan's first State Park and the three campgrounds provide the most campsites of any Michigan Park. One of the campsites is primitive but the two larger ones have electric and of course there is a dump station at each of the other campgrounds. You should visit some time, it's a really nice park.

RE: 2010 and 2011 Winnebago Vista 30W Owners

Thank you so much! We're going to give it a try. We looked at mounts at Sam's Club yesterday and found a couple that should do the trick. I'm getting tired of having a stiff neck! Now if we can just figure out to get our Satellite Dish hooked up we'll be more than happy campers. We're volunteering at a Michigan State Campground this summer and have a great site but very wooded. I think we're going to have to stick with antenna tv for the rest of the summer. Happy Camping!

RE: Flat towing a 2011 Ford Edge

We have a 2010 Edge & had the same problem the first time we towed. My husband found there was a tiny difference between the correct setting and engaging the battery. I'm surprised that dealers weren't able to help. Now that my husband knows exactly how far to turn the key we have no problems. Is there anything in the manual?

RE: 2010 and 2011 Winnebago Vista 30W Owners

We purchased our Vista for the same reasons everyone else has mentioned. We prefer State, NFS, National Park campgrounds and we haven't had any problems with finding a site. Goldencrazy - how difficult did you find removing the front tv? We don't want to remove ours but do want to change out the mount. When we had our Class C we added a flatscreen on a mount that allowed us to pull the tv out and change the angle etc. We'd like to do this on our Vista and were wondering how difficult it would be. It also never occured to us that we could purchase other model's fixtures for use in our Vista. What a great idea!

RE: Overnight at Walmart, Sevierville, Tn.

We pulled into this Walmart in a driving rainstorm a couple of years ago and didn't see the signs stating the no parking. We always go inside and ask permission to park but didn't because of the rain. We had just gone to bed when a knock came to our door (It had stopped raining by then). It was the local police telling us we had to leave. He was very nice but firm about it because of the local ordinance. We assumed the ordinance was to protect the local campground owners.
