RE: Ugly Encounter at Campground

OP's wife here. I called the park police because of the spitting on my car, not because someone wanted to cut through my site. If he was willing to do that sort of thing to my (brand new) car in front of us, God only knows what he would be willing to do when we couldn't see him. I called the police and made a report, told them they didn't need to come out but I wanted it noted in case anything else happened. They chose to come out anyway. And by firm, my dh meant I said "Please don't cut through our site" in a normal voice, no yelling, no *****ing.

RE: Ugly Encounter at Campground

OP, what happened after the police spoke to them? Did they behave for the rest of the weekend? We did not have any other interactions with them for what remained of the weekend.

Beer on May long weekend in what I assume was a provincial park? Don't they all have liqour bans on the May long weekend? We were at Evangola State Park in NY.

Ugly Encounter at Campground

We had an ugly encounter on the weekend with a fellow camper. A couple walking their dog decided to walk right through the middle of our campsite to a pathway behind us while we were having dinner. My wife asked them not to cut through our site but go around to the other access point. They turned around and walked away suggesting we not be rude. My wife was firm but not rude about it. As they walked away one of our kids saw the guy spit a mouthful of beer over the hood of our car. We called the park office/park police and reported it. They sent a cruiser out about an hour later just as the couple were just coming back to their campsite from their walk. The police officer went over and had a chat with him. We cannot understand why some people believe they have the right to do something like this when they are clearly infringing on our site and privacy. That's my rant for today.

RE: bunkhouse or NO bunkhouse?

A royal pain in the rear to have******spread all over and have to put up take down every night. I like to get up early and have me coffee. I don't want to do it stepping over kids, dogs, or anything else. Kids have bunks or I wouldn't have a TT. Same with my camper for that matter. x2! It is so nice for the kids to have their own space! We don't have to break down the bed every morning and set-up every night, which we did even with the bunkhouse for the first few months until the kids felt comfortable back there. If you're at a campground without hook-ups you have to turn on the generator to inflate and deflate the bed, at least in our FW you do, which means generator hours dictate when you set-up and break down. Not always convenient. Also, our FW has a master slide. x3! We really like that dedicated sleeping space that does not have to be converted all the time. Also like being able to get up at different times and not disturbing others. The front to back separation of sleeping quarters helps isolate noisy sleepers too. At this point in our lives the bunk setup works for us... x4 The bunks are plenty of big enough for an adult, so no problems there.

Campgrounds in PA with Kayaking

We want to spend a July weekend in PA, somewhere within +/- 3 hours of Buffalo, more or less on the way to D.C. We want a campground that has kayak rentals on site, as we won't have transportation (we won't be tearing down the RV to go kayaking). Any suggestions?

Thanks for the replies. Dieharder - would you mind sharing how much you paid. cvbdsl - would you share how much you paid and also the name of the company in Greely. Thanks. I paid just a hair over $1600US, with a couple of hundred in duty crossing back. My lowest quote in Ottawa was a little over $2700.

Tires in Ontario or New York

I am in the market for six 245/75/19 tires for my Hurricane Class A. Any suggestions on where to get good service and price in either Ontario or New York.

RE: Magic bullet?

We have one. The rings are stuck on the jars now, so the whole thing is useless. I can't get them off without breaking everything.
