RE: Going from Colorado Springs to Los Vegas

I have been thru them all and the trip north on I-25 to the western bypass then to I-70 is fast and save about 30 miles as opposed to going I-25 to I-70 directly. Going over the passes is pretty and very mountainous.
Las Vegas, NM is not assumed because unless a distinction is made, most assume Las Vegas, NV as the destination. May not be fair but when 40 million visitors come here each year, please forgive us for assuming as we do. :)

RE: CAREFREE AWNING PROBLEM

harold1946,
has the answer I think. My 21 foot awning used to do that until made it roll straight. If it went to either side, the awning would roll up out of line and one end would be as yours is. Try rerolling it and pay attention to which direction the awning moves as it rolls up. Good luck.

RE: Going from Colorado Springs to Los Vegas

Colo Sprgs to Las Vegas has two good routes. Go south thru Raton and you drive about 960 miles and is not too much climbing. The drive after you go south from Raton is an easy drive and pretty flat for a long ways. The climb out of Albe on I-40 is long and takes a while.
Going north from the Springs thru Denver on the bypass to the west of Denver is a 862 mile drive and has some good climbs. The worst part I found was not so much the climbing as the downhill on the west side of the Eisenhower tunnel. Take that slow and after that you have pretty smooth sailing. Either way is a good drive.
I am going to Cortez this weekend on I-40 to Flagstaff. Wave if you see my truck and camper going east.
Have a safe trip.

RE: Crossing into Canada and saving the Vegetables

They actually asked if you owned a handgun at home? Interesting, but tells me they already pulled your name up on the computer and were checking to see if you would answer honestly. If you didn't, I have a feeling your day would have gone downhill pretty fast.

RE: Thank you all. I have my first PU Camper

Specularius
Are you saying that the axle on your truck is rated almost 3000# LESS than the tires and wheels?
Well, I looked it up and the DRW rating at ground for your truck is actually about 9750#. But that really surprised me knowing how strong Ford's are. You are right. Going to 19.5" wheels & tires would gain nothing since you are exceeding the rear axle rating already.
Here are some charts I found.

RE: Teton XT4

Stick to the OP's question. Who is towing a Teton 40 XT4 5th with a Ford 350 or 450?

RE: Biggest New 5er behind my '06 Dodge 2500?

The limiter for any 2500 series truck is the amount it can CARRY! I have said that Generally if the pin weight is over 2100# the total weight will exceed the GVWR. The GCWR for the 3/4T & 1T is generally the same since they usually share the same drive train.
You need to weigh the truck empty with the hitch in it, full fuel and whatever else you would be carrying before the pin is loaded in. Then you will know what you can CARRY.
I have found that anything over 30' is too much for a 3/4T or 1T pickup SRW. For a DRW 1T we are in a different "ballgame". There ARE exceptions, so don't come back telling me how wrong I am.

RE: Has anyone looked inside their Weingard Sat Antenna?

I decided to buy a Hauppauge USB TV converter tuner for my laptop from Best Buy. It converts free cable and OTA TV to the laptop. Saved me buying a new small TV as well.

RE: Secure Storage

I too had my new TC broken into after using it just once! They took nothing!! Go figure.
I had to repair the door myself. Otherwise a $500 bill just to replace the door and frame. But the owners of the storage say they have a good idea who did and how. From now on the people attending auctions MUST stay with the owners and there is always a person at the rear of the group to be sure they do. Their problems have stopped since then.
