RE: traveling to yellowstone, east entrance from cody on hwy 14.

There is a place about 100 yds inside the entrance that you can stop and drop your toad off if you like. I do that and find getting rid of about 2 ton makes the coach more responsive to the throttle.

RE: Trip planning from WI to Natl parks in Utah

I'm thinking you are a bit concerned about the climbing you will do in the Rockies. You will be fine as long as you downshift to a gear which lets your motorhome pull the HILLS without laboring, This should be your choice as to speed not the speed limit or fellow travelers. I also believe that you should desend in the gear you went up in. We'll be out there this fall and will be doing just that.

RE: Looking at this used DP. Advice and opinions welcome.

Being stored inside may help the tires a bit but anything over 7 years needs replaced. It has to do with the chemical compounds in the tires. Tires could look brand new but you put the load on them that RVs do and you would be asking for trouble. Of course the owner is going to tell you the tires are fantastic. Hes trying to sell it without replacing them.
Most of the major tire manufactures state 10 yrs. I am quite sure they are not trying to get you to put off buying new tires and you still have a margin of safety then.

I don't know the coach but I agree that the tires will last longer when kept out of the sun. If they are the correct tire for the coach load on them and they are inflated to the proper lbs i would be comfortable with them.

RE: Tire inflation pressure versus tire life?

Most of what is said here is true but he number in the chart will give you the biggest footprint on the road, thus the best mileage for the tire. Another way to
to get the correct pressure for your rig without weighing it is to use chalk and draw a line across the tread and look for even wear off of the line after moving it a revolution or two. When you are getting even wear on a tire you can go to the chart and get a good idea of your corner weight if you so desire. When you have different weights on the same axle you are to use the higher of the two for both sides of that axle. Under inflated tires will run hotter and cause a failure and over inflated tires will wear a little faster in the middle of the tread. All inflation charts give the setting when cold and you should only adjust your pressure in the morning before operating the vehicle. It is pretty straight forward if you remember the objective (flat level tire patch on the road).

RE: What's with diesel prices?

Heating oil no longer affects diesel as it is not low sulpher. They charge what the traffic will bear and the price has nothing to do with the cost of product to produce. The truckers quit complaining because they can pass the cost on as a fuel surcharge to their customers. This started when the government mandated low sulpher and some refineries decided to not spend the money to convert and are now producing only home heating oil, thus causing less over the road fuel to be available.

RE: Seen at the Pilot

I would like to see a wind tunnel air flow of a DP if anyone has a link. If it keeps the rear bedroom cooler it is helping the air flow.

RE: cummins engine oil

I haven't read this post for awhile and am pleased to see people are reading the linked article. I thought it was the best I'd seen in a long time. Right after I read it NAPA had the Valvoline premium blue for 9.99 a gal and I bought all 8 gal that they had.

I believe it is packaged by Warren Performance Products, thus the WPP on the bottom.

RE: cummins engine oil

I'll try to find the link to an article that was based on a report from a retired chemical engineer that evaluated the additive package of various oils and Supertech had a better additive package than Shell Rotella. One of the best was Valvoline Premium Blue that is recommended by Cummins.

I'm link challenged so you will have to copy and paste.

RE: Tv Cabling

There must be a filter of some sort in the path of the interior cables. In my home set up which was just installed there was an amplifier from charter cable and it had about 16 outputs to various places in the house. It would not pass the direct tv signal. They put there splitter and all was well. If you can get to the back of your dual input cables and try hooking up with a union it might help and if not then where it breaks out on the other end.

To the original question, you get the cash price plus the 3 cent discount with the RV card as well as the pump start feature.

RE: Little known cruise control features on a DP

We have an 09 Maxima and it does the same thing. With the throttle steady on a grade it will increase engine rpm to hold speed. In the case of the Maxima it is done with the transmission controler. It also will hold speed going down hill. Once you get use to it you like it.

RE: I lost a piece of plastic tubing in my crank case

I'm wondering if it didn't get sucked up into the tubing on your suction pump instead of falling into the pan. If it is in the pan it will not get past the pickup filter so it won't hurt anything.

RE: Large Motor Home and small gold mining shovel

I find it hard to believe how many people are afraid of doing a little work. I had a heart attack followed by 6 way bypass and it happened doing nothing. You know when you are over doing it.
