RE: Does This Trailer Exist?

Check these two made by Open Range--they are the new Light series and both are
31.3' long. Both have fire place. LF289RES & LF297RLS. Open Range link:

RE: Cable operated slides

I own a 2009 Open Range JF335BHS purchased Nov. 21, 2008 build date Sept. 08.
It has 3 slides that are all cable operated and I did have one cable replaced
just before the 2 year warranty expired in Nov. 2011. This cable had been slightly frayed since I bought the FW and I decided to have it replaced to be on the safe side. This is my 5th trailer and by far the best built and easiest to pull. Without a doubt my next trailer will be Open Range. BTW I did experience frame cracks 6 weeks after warranty and Open Range covered the repairs with Lippert supplying the material. Open Range is very easy to work with if you do have problems--your dealer may be a different story.

RE: Broken frames

Most of the people that say it's not a big deal have not had it happen to them.
Wonder what they would say if there wife's Cadillac or Lincoln had a frame crack at 45,000 miles. Probably just make the repairs and move on.

RE: Lippert frame inspection

I have had frame cracks in the axle area , had them repaired
and now I inspect after every trip. I have not inspected the pin box area but it sounds like a good idea to me.

RE: A happy story regarding trailer frame...

my 2009 Open Range frame experienced the frame cracks 6 weeks past the two year warranty. I had the repairs done at a local RV repair shop at $2007.32/ Lippert furnished the crossmember retro-kit that was
installed and reimbursed $500 of the labor and Open Range reimbursed $1000 leaving the $507.32 out of my:? pocket.

RE: No electrical now

Just read your last post, that charger has nowhere near the umpf to run your slides and the battery is probably bad after that much inactivity. Replace the battery with a good deep cycle, plug into non-gfi outlet and charge the battery. You should be good to go.

RE: 50 Amp shore power blows breakers

mine did the same thing the first time I tried to plug in as you describe....turned out that I was plugging into one of my home receptacles that was in a GFCI run and it was tripping.....plugged it into a normal house receptacle and it worked just fine. This was when I first had the 5er and was just trying to run the fridge overnight for a trip we were taking in the morning....wasn't smart enough to just run the fridge on propane!!!

RE: CB Radio/ brake controller

I had a similar problem but it was with CB and GPS.
Everytime I would key the CB it would knock the GPS off and I would have to reset it. I installed a dedicated 12v power point with a on/off sw. to solve
the problem. When I would need to key up I would turn off the GPS.

RE: hairline cracks in the frame... darn..

I have been through this repair this year-What you need to do is contact Lippert
and explain what you have and they have a retro kit with instructions how to do the repair--LIP sheet-0135 rev A --They also have a Axle Retro procedure that shows how to add cross braces between all of the spring hangers for extra bracing. I had mine done at a local RV repair shop but they called in a certified welder to do the welding. Lippert provided all the material and between Lippert and Trailer MFG I was reimbursed 75% of the $2007.32 labor.
My trailer is a 2009 model and was 6 weeks out of warranty.
Here is some very interesting reading if you can weed out some of the
unnecessary comments.

RE: What do you think of Open Range?

I have a 2009 older model Open Range JF335BHS and even with
Frame cracks at 2 years I still think Open Range has one of the
best built products for $$$$ spent on the market today. And even though the frame cracks happened after warranty Open Range paid 80% of the repairs.
No other major problems with my trailer which is now 3 years old.
I suggest you visit the Open Range owners forum for lots of info.

RE: Added spark ignition to Atwood/Wedgewood Stove

So far, the ignitors are working well. I tried removing the ground as 12thgenusa pointed out, and I found that the spark was weakened to the point that the gas would not ignite, but I imagine there is a multitude of reasons why that might have happened. If I need to light the oven pilot light by spark as well, I'll order a 6 contact ignitor (I sense a new mod coming on!) What a convenience is to light the stove with the push of a button!!! And it *is* a pain to light the pilot light.
I did this mod. on my stove/oven also but I replaced the old "click-click" OEM with the electronic Char-broil. I mounted the push button module in the same hole on the stove front and all the burners light and I used the 4th connection for the oven. I think that if you either mount your module on the stove or run a wire to the metal ring behind the push button that should allow you to use the 4th terminal for the oven. JMHO.:)

One more suggestion that I would add is to leave the trailer hooked to the

Another tragedy in the RV community

Very saddening- Prayers go to all the families.
http://www.thenewsstar.com/article/20110919/NEWS01/110919019/Police-identify-5-bodies-found-RV-Tenn-speedway-carbon-monoxide-eyed-cause-?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Police have identified the three men and two women found dead in a recreational vehicle at Clarksville Speedway on Sunday.
The five were identified as Timothy Bryan Stone, 39, James Franklin Wall II, 38, Jonathan Michael Over, 27, his wife, Kathryn Elizabeth Over, 27, and Allison Elizabeth Bagwell-Wyatt, 32. All were from Clarksville.
Police continue to investigate the deaths amid speculation that carbon monoxide might have been a factor, CPD spokesman Jim Knoll said.
“The carbon dioxide aspect is being considered as part of the investigation, but at this juncture, we are not limiting the scope of the investigation and are considering all possibilities,” Knoll said.
Kathryn “Katy” Over was an area physical education teacher. The three men were members of Bikers Who Care, a local organization that hosted the 30th annual Leslie W. Watson Memorial Toy Run on Saturday.
“They were just all three outstanding members,” said BWC Director Bill Langford. “They worked hard all weekend and put together the best toy run we’ve ever had.”
Knoll said autopsies of the bodies could take six to eight weeks.
Some 2,000 bikes took part in Saturday’s event, which helps needy kids. The group hosted a party to celebrate its success Saturday night, and Langford said the five finished their shifts and went back to their RV to go to sleep early Sunday morning.
A few hours later, the reverie of the toy run suddenly disappeared as ambulances appeared on the scene and Langford said he heard someone shouting, “They’re all dead!”
Knoll said the discovery of the bodies is being investigated as a homicide per department policy, but there are no signs of foul play. Langford and Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan both called it a “tragic accident.”
“The deceased were removed from the camper and sent to the medical examiner’s office in Nashville.
Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan volunteered at Saturday’s toy run and praised BWC for its positive effect on the community. She came out to speak with the families of the deceased shortly after she heard the news Sunday.
“It hits everybody in Clarksville,” McMillan said. “I wanted to let them know that Clarksville cares about them and is thinking about them in their time of need.”
