RE: no dc power when camping

Having married an engineer so that I don't have to think about this kind of stuff, I do know that our 04 PW with twin beds has a battery disconnect under the passenger back seat. I have to lift the bed frame and there it is--a red Key-like thing that has to be turned for the house battery to work. Sometime the key appears to be in the right position but it isn't quite. I turn the key off and then back on and it works fine. There was also one time when the fuse breakers had to be reset. I found it behind the hinged door near the fridge. It was a big pain to find the tiny reset button to push. Now you probably wonder why I keep saying "I had to do this or that". My engineer guy likes me to have "experience" so when I go out alone, I can handle minor problems. Whatta a guy!!!

RE: WA state needs money more than tourists????

Money or lack thereof is a problem everywhere! Since WA has no state income tax, they have to get $$$ somewhere to provide the services people have come to think of as necessary. I willingly support the state parks because I use them and recognize that it costs to keep them open and staffed.

RE: pleasureway excel leak

We have the same year and model of PW and had the same problem with leaking under the beds by the door. For a couple of years DH and I tried to find/fix a problem thinking it was in the back doors. Finally took it to the dealer who immediately realized the leak was coming from above where the top of the PW connects to the body. The problem was solved only after half the caulking was removed and replaced. This was not a cheap repair and now I am leary that the same thing might happen to the front of the van. DH is not too interested in "playing around" with the van and tends to be reactive rather than proactive about problems. Good luck with your leaking issues.

RE: pleasureway excel leak

I have a 2004 Pleasureway Excel TD. Two areas have me baffled.
First, where the water hose attaches to the city water inlet, there's a leak. I've replaced the rubber washers and tightened down the connections, which resolved leaking from the outside. However, there's a drip from UNDER/INSIDE the body. Removing the three screws that hold the mounting flange accomplished nothing, since the white mounting flange is integral to the piping. Any suggestions? Do I need to take it to an RV service center?
Second, the storage locker behind the rear doors (carpeted and under bunks) gets damp in a downpour. The drip edge above those doors had cracked caulk, so I carefully removed the caulk, cutting at the upper edge. That cut revealed that what looks like good caulk is still intact up under the upper edge. I've not recaulked or siliconed that area, and the dampness in heavy rain seems no more or less than before. The water is migrating from somewhere - I've never had any sign of wetness along the door seal. Haven't removed the plastic threshold to look under the carpet yet. Any suggestions?
I'd like to be able to resolve these problems myself, but will go to RV service if necessary.
Also, any suggestions about good service center in Florida? Presently in St. Augustine, but will be moving south tomorrow.
Many thanks,
Renee

Sprinter at Costco

I went to Costco this afternoon and got very excited. Parked out by the fast food area was a nice sized Sprinter. I thought Costco had gotten into the RV business! The price was $39,200! Big disappointment--it was an empty cargo van.:(

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Have given up on summer. Moved the PW to front driveway; cleaned inside while DH does outside. Now, I am slowing stocking it with food. After church tomorrow, we are off--don't know where, but will head north/northwest. Am enticing DH with the promise of a fantastic bakery I read about this week in the newspaper.mmmmm

RE: Dog Hair Removal

I discovered The Fly Lady(flylady.net) who has a wonderful product called "Rubba Scrubba". It is a kind of brush that is great for getting up dog hair plus it has all kinds of other uses. I bought several--gave one to my daughter who has a giant hairball Aussie. She says her rubba scrubba gets up the hair when nothing else will. I carry one in the PW and find it most useful.

RE: Coffee anyone?

If I want really good coffee and am not in a hurry, I use a French press. If I don't care and have electricity, I use the cheap Mr. Coffee. Being prepared for either means I have to have two different grinds of coffee.

RE: Generator not going to be used

When we got our PW new it came with a generator. At first I questioned the need for one. Then we pulled into a parking lot for lunch on a very hot day--hey, the gen. was great for running air conditioner to keep us and the dog cool. Another time, same situation except it was cool and rainy. We wanted to use microwave for something warm for lunch--hey, there's the gen. waiting to power the microwave.
We were real babies originally--had to have at least electricity or we would turn up our noses at a campground. Then we discovered state parks which usually don't have lots of hookups (if any around here). They do have small sites which fit our B perfectly and we could run our gen to charge the house battery if it were getting low. I really like camping in state parks on government land and the gen makes that easier. In fact, a generator has moved well up my list of "must haves"
