RE: Gas Mileage 2012 Ford F350 Dually Diesel 6.7L

I have a 2011 6.7 dually that weighs 8860 lbs with a full tank of fuel, a few bolt on accessories and me and my wife in the cab. It has a 3.73 rear end. I generally drive loaded with a camper but last month I had to drive it to work for a week. I got 16mpg driving 45 to 60 with a few stop lights.
On a recent trip with the camper and puliing a trailer from the west coast to the mid west we averaged 11.5 mph hand calculated for the entire 4000 mile trip. The truck/camper is bit over 12 feet high and the combined weight of the truck, trailer and camper was 15,500 lbs. I drove what ever the speed limit was and did not slow down in the mountains.

RE: Tire load rating and leveling blocks

You can always block one tire and lower the jacks for more stability. The jacks can remove enough weight so that a single tire isn't overloaded anymore. Less blocks to carry and a more stable camper that way.
Thats something I never thought about.

RE: Tire load rating and leveling blocks

Narcodog
The truck without camper, a full tank of fuel and me and my wife in the truck puts the rear axle at 3700lbs. The camper dry is 3000lbs. With water, generator, propane, batteries, bicycles and rack, and a bunch of other stuff I usually cross the scales at 7800-7900lbs on the rear axle.

Those plastic blocks of yours look a little more stout than mine. Have you used them much on gravel.

Tire load rating and leveling blocks

I am probably nit picking here but what are folks thoughts using leveling blocks on a camper loaded DRW truck. If my rear axle is seeing a load of 8000lb my tires are seeing a load of 2000 lbs each. If I only used a leveling block under one wheel that tire would see a load of 4000 lbs. My tires are rated at 3200 lbs each. Does it matter if it is a static load or not. Would you fell comfortable loading a tire and wheel 800lbs over its load rating even if it’s in a mostly static environment.
Reason I ask is I am about to build some nice leveling blocks to replace the crappy plastic ones I have and I need to know just how many I am going to need to build.
