RE: Vista 26P toilets

I just went to the site that you gave for the conversion from one toilet to the other. The problem that the OP will have is that the hole for the toilet will not sit in the correct spot from the wall to accomodate those toilets. What he needs to do is to measure from the wall to the center of the hole and then compare that measurement to the specifications of a replacement toilet. In every case except the Thetford Style II the toilet will not clear the back wall and align with the hole.

RE: Vista 26P toilets

Replaced original toilet with China Thetford Style II I don't know if you have the similar problem with your 26 that we had in the 30W or the 33C Sightseer that we bought. The hole for the toilet is in the wrong place for most toilets. In other words it sits too close to the wall. This is the only toilet that has worked for those of us that replaced the original. We replaced the one in the Vista and when we bought the Sightseer, we had the dealer exchange them. Try looking at the thread above and it will give you how it can be done.

RE: The best compressor to buy to air the tires to 100PSI ?

I have a porter cable pancake compressor that goes to 150 lbs, and fast. Got mine from Lowes about 5 years ago and still going strong. And mine has been used alot to run nail guns. Came with hose and some acessories. X2 After buying 2 others that did not work.

RE: RV Park Recommendations Invited for Mt Rushmore etc.

We stayed at the Horse Thief Campground. Nothing fancy, but a really great place to home base and see the area. Really nice people run this campground.

RE: Floor Plan - TV Placement

Look at the Winnebago's with the buffet with pull out tables and chairs. Perfect set up for TV. We have a sightseer and took out the couch/airbed and single little recliner in the slide out across from the buffet and TV and put in 2 wallhugger recliners. Love the set up. Our TV is a 42" flat screen that sits on the buffet in the full wall slide. We are big baseballs fans, so we really enjoy the large TV with the comfortable seating. We had a 30' Vista Winnebago that had this same set up. You can see the inside of ours in the Winnebago 30W vista thread. The thread shows how we put the recliners in across from the eyelevel TV on the buffet. We had the vista for 7 months and then traded it for the Sightseer. I think even their DP have the buffet. The 2 pictures below show how the placement of the TV is across from the recliners we added. I did check that even the larger Winnebagos have the buffet models http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/25136957/gotomsg/25556417.cfm#25556417 http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/25136957/gotomsg/25543743.cfm#25543743http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/25136957/gotomsg/25543743.cfm#25543743

RE: Waste odor while driving

I use the shower but intermittently and haven't used it for a couple of months. I'll have to get pink antifreeze but for now I will pour water into the drain. How often do I need to do this? Thanks for the information. I did the same thing yesterday--filling the sink and toilet with water but today it smells???? We let the shower drain go dry once (only once) We used our shower as a closet on our very first RV a small Class C. We were driving down the road and the most horrible smell overcame us. It was coming from the hallway area. Opened up the shower and there it was. Poured some water down the drain and the smell went away. We poured a bottle of water down the drain about once every couple weeks after that. I really don't know how long it can take to drain out or evaporate.

RE: Waste odor while driving

If you aren't using the shower, you need to make sure you are keeping the p-trap in the drain full. Just use a small bottle and pour water into the drain or use the pink antifreeze if you don't use the shower(won't evaporate as quick)

You will love it. If you have your own ideas throw them out to Chad and he will work with you and provide his input. You will love the end results.

RE: running off a 20 amp circuit at my house

Power Grabber You can use this on 2 15 amp outlets that are on 2 separate circuits to get 30 amps. We use this in my sisters driveway every year. Just find 2 different circuits. We use one in the garage and one by the front door. You will have to buy some adapters to go from a 110 plus to a 30 amp plug

RE: Cost of having AIR conditioning ON?????

Guys, I really hate to see a "one tank average" used for anything meaningful. A 1 percent difference in the grade of the pavement were you are filling up can make a reasonably significant difference. Though I record every gallon that goes in our coach, I only calculate AVERAGE on 2000+ mile segments. Tank to tank varies pretty widely-- based more on fill than differences in MPG. Our summer trip averges (with dash A/C)/winter MPG does not vary by over .2 MPG. Are you diesel or gas? The OP asked how running the AC effected a Gas Smaller Class A engined motor home.

RE: Cost of having AIR conditioning ON?????

Filled the tank this morning drove 204 miles. Filled the tank before we stopped at the RV park. Got 6.3 MPG Average MPG over 40,000 miles when not using AC is 8.3. Had AC on all day in 100 degree temps. A lot of small hills all day. That is a 2 MPG drop from AVG NOT USING AC. That drop even surprised us as it usually is 1 MPG drop. Must have been more hills than we realized.

RE: Spokane RV Reno Company

We have used Truline and you will love them. They do absolutely beautiful work. We had them build a cabinet, replace carpet and lino. Take out a dinette and add a couch. Replace the captains chairs. It was beautiful. We had some small damage on the front of our RV and they repaired that perfect. We have used them for years to do all maintenance regarding the outside seams, roof etc. Chad is great and his sister works the office. They strive in perfection. We purchased a new motor home last year and when we get home, we will have Chad check out all the seams, etc. We also want him to build us a cabinet where we took out a chair. He is the only place I would go.

RE: consignment selling class A gass rv

If you sell it yourself, I would not give anyone a test drive that hasn't committed to purchase it as long as the test drive is good. That means I would take it out one time. I have never test driven a motor vehicle I have purchased from a Private Party until after I have decided to purchase it. A test drive should not be an issue to make a buyer decide to purchase it, just to continue with the purchase. If someone insists on a test drive before committing to purchasing your vehicle, I would say they are not a serious buyer. There are exceptions obviously, but not many.

RE: Soft RV Toilet Paper?

Angel Soft Can always find it around for close to $6.00 for 24 rolls. Cheap and not bad at all. I wouldn't use it at home, but beats anything that we consider RV safe.

RE: How level?

My rule used to be, if the bubble hits the line at all, I'm OK. Now have auto level, but sometimes still not that level if I want to keep all tires on the ground. The worst we have ever been was probably 12 inches front to back. Very obvious. Fridge worked OK.

RE: Cost of having AIR conditioning ON?????

You know I don't believe this thread. I don't think I read one word about anyone saying that running the AC would cost them more than they were willing to pay or that they couldn't RV if they ran their AC do to cost. The OP ask if there was a difference in MPG if he ran his AC. A very good question. Not that he would not run it if it was hot, just a question. I really doubt that a DP big RV notices even the slightest difference, but a smaller RV that is gas engine run, will definitely have a drop in MPG as the engine will be working harder. How much of a difference in MPG/s will depend on that persons rigs. If you have an answer for the OP, please just provide it.

RE: Cost of having AIR conditioning ON?????

Hi rondeb, How do you happen to know the answer? At what speed? Have tracked this over 40,000 miles of traveling. We have had a few tanks drop as low as 2.0 MPG This is traveling at an average speed of 58-62 mph We use the AC when we need it and we have kept MPG records for 40,000 miles. I always mark the records with a star for those tanks that AC was used.

RE: Cost of having AIR conditioning ON?????

I happen to know the answer. On a 30 or 33 foot gas engine Class A towing a 2000 pound car, to run your dash AC you will reduce your MPG by almost .75 to 1 MPG that depends on the terrain. It IS expensive to run the Dash AC, so someones Grandfather was correct when he said don't ever buy a car with AC as it is too expensive. It is actually cheaper to run your generator and run the house AC's or both of them if it really gets hot.
