RE: Planning for trip to Rocky Point

Mexican Insurance & Passport. No FMM or vehicle permits required for Rocky Point. It is tougher getting back across the border into the USA than it is to cross into Mexico & going to RP.

FM2 requirement?

Isn't a Mexico local address required to be able to acquire a FM2?
Thanks,

RE: Top 25 Best Places to Retire - by CNN-Money

Climate is just one minuscule part of the formula......Who wants to pay the CA taxes or endure the political climate there. To me, 141" of snow is much more palatable than the few benefits that CA may offer......:B
LOL, too many places to go that are nice without snow. Taxes follow you where ever you go!

RE: Top 25 Best Places to Retire - by CNN-Money

Have been to most of the locations and agree with all but Tucson. Too many snakes, lighting, stars & cactus. WE are happy the bad economy slowed down the growth as we were afraid we were going to have to start looking for the next best place. Luckily all is calm now and we are happy our stick home is in AZ barring the state politics.

RE: From the mexican border to san Diego and up to LA

Hay Les,
Finally leaving MX.
We would stay inland and go thu the Salton Sea area. Lots of places to see & boondock, Slab City for a night just so you can say you have been there, boondocking at nearly all the Casinos, several State & National Parks and make your way into LA via the 210. Much easier drive and more places to boondock. Traffic is nuts up the Coast, have done it toooooo many times.
Good luck and don't forget us on the Traveling in Mexico forum.

RE: travel in Utah

Only problem will be IF a warm spell hits the area. Temps can get in the 90's so you will want to watch your engine temp as you climb the grades.
You may at one point want to pull over as the temp is climbing in a turnoff and see how long it takes for the engine to cool. Mine cools in minutes, was really surprised. High outside temp will be your only problem if you don't mind going slow & traffic.

RE: packrats attack

I live in AZ. I keep D-Con Rat near my RV, Pickup (parked in a carport), pool filter and various locations around the property. I also keep a couple D-Con Rat open in different location inside the RV as well, ALL the time. They can ruin the wiring on anything. You have to kill them, they will return with friends!!!

RE: San Carlos to Puerto Penasco

Should be traveled in less than a day. We have completed the old route in a single day and it is further to travel. AND at that time the old route was under construction on Hwy 2 with numerous potholes.

RE: Mexico fuel prices makes Mexico a deal!

Ok for you guys close to the border tanking fuel is fun. but no bargain to travel on the safe roads as for me the tolls are almost equal to fuel costs.
BUT I AM RETURNING - viva Mexico
Agree! We also have found long trips on the Mainland, toll charges were almost equal to our fuel cost.

RE: Mexico fuel prices makes Mexico a deal!

Just wondering ????????
Do the US boarder patrol allow you to bring back fuel cans back with Mexican fuel?I fill the truck before I leave Mexico but never fill the Jerry cans with fuel because I am afraid they might take it from me when I cross back to the USA. I know if was red gas , then I would get myself in big trouble .
rocmoc , have you ever brought back fuel back from Mexico to the USA ?
Is it legal ?
Joseph and Dolores
Fill your cans, you won't have any problems. The limit is in excess of 200 gals. I go over and fill my tanks, 90 gals, on my Dodge Ram and return home. The agents have to feel assured that the fuel is for personal use or you will not be able to keep it. I have never had any problems as my fuel if for personal use only. I will be renewing my Mexican Insurance in April and start making my monthly trip across the border again. BUT we also do other shopping, have lunch at a favorite Nogales restaurant, fuel up and return. Nogales local businesses are hurting and can use the dollars/pesos.

Mexico fuel prices makes Mexico a deal!

Just saw on BBC News that fuel after all the conversions in England for unleaded gas is $8.40/gal. Sure makes RVing in Mexico look like a deal. We will be headed to Baja next winter.

Cheap fuel in USA

Just saw on BBC News with all the conversions, unleaded gas is $8.40/gal in England. Insane but makes our prices look cheaper.

RE: Solar Ovens

We have one and use it at home. Have never took it on a RV trip. Being a full-time res of AZ we have lots of opportunities to use it year around. For the features and quality of the product, it wasn't worth my time to try and build to the same level of efficient.

RE: Canyonlands/Moab

We were there last June the weekend following the cool weather and it was 102. We cut our stay short and headed further North. Great area tho!
Also a big change was the bugs came out in force the hot weekend. We had friends that were there the weekend before and there wasn't any bugs. Take a good High count Deet bug spray with you. As posted earlier, it can be freezing or frying!
