RE: Very poor braking power on new Alpine fifht wheel

Does the trailer have grease zerks for lubing the bearings? Very common to find folks over lubing them and filling the brake drums with grease which means no braking power. I've actually SEEN folks buy a brand new trailer and immediately go around and put six or seven pumps of grease in those things. I do this every year with no problems. When done correctly, pumping grease into the zerks is FINE.

RE: Speaking of pull test....

I remove the chocks and use the trailer brakes. This does two things not only checking the brakes for proper operation but also performing the pull test. Yep. That way you can find out the trailer brakes aren't working, And drop the trailer on the truck at the same time. Thanks but I'll leave the wheel chocks on and test brakes later. Hehehe... WRONG. That's why the front legs are only an inch above the ground. It can't hit the truck. Actually, the trailer brakes not working will not cause the trailer to drop any more than chocking or not chocking. What's your point???

RE: Water pump not pumping

Is the water pump positioned above the freshwater tank? Duh... Most are setup this way. The pumps are self-priming.

RE: Speaking of pull test....

Not if you apply just the trailer brakes as I do for the test. Either way will work.

RE: Ok same thing...what would good to pull a 10000 lb 5ver?

I tow about 8K with a 6.0 2500 and like others have said it does well on flat roads. Going up hill you need to downshift and get the revs up. It's fine with me since I only tow a few times a year.

Landing Gear Manuf. Manual

I own a 2010 Keystone Cougar. Does anyone know who makes the landing gear on this unit? I want to try to locate the manual for it.

RE: What do you wash your 5th wheel with

Wash it every few weeks with nothing but dawn dish soap. I supplement by spraying on Purple Power (Walmart) for bugs and black streaks. Never let it get dirty enough to be a problem. I also hand wax all surfaces every spring with NuFinish. Always looks new. Steve Your wax is gone after washing it with Dawn dish detergent. Auto enthusiast use Dawn to strip off any existing wax before clay-baring and re-waxing.

RE: Galley Tank Question

Maybe there's a check valve in the vent. That's what I would like to know.

RE: Galley Tank Question

I just noticed that the vent is under the sink so I assume that if the tank overflowed, it would overflow right here under the sink. Is this correct? It seems to me that water would back up out of here before backing up into the sink unless these vents have some kind of valve that lets air in but not water out. Any tips? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/robertbick/2010%20Cougar%20276RLS/IMAG1023.jpg

Galley Tank Question

My sensors do not read correctly on my galley tank which only holds grey water from the kitchen sink. My question is; If I overflow the tank, will it just back up into the kitchen sink or would it overflow somewhere else first and cause water damage somewhere in the fiver?

RE: New 5th Arrived - What a Dissapointment

9- Fresh water tank - indicates 1/3 full Fix: Sensor adjustment, now working. How do you adjust a holding tank sensor??? Never heard of this.
