RE: Mouse in a travel trailer

Steel wool is your friend...stuff it everywhere you can. The cheapest I have found is in the paint section at Lowe's or Home Depot.

RE: Charlottesville, VA Campgrounds?

As mentioned, you may want to go here http://www.mistymountaincampresort.com/. Depending upon which direction you are coming from or going to, you may find another one here that would be good - http://www.virginiacampgrounds.org/central.php

RE: Has anyone found the PERFECT bunkhouse?

For us, ours is what we wanted and fits our needs. We can have a quad bunk, or all four beds fold up out of the way for storage or a play room. Or the one bunk can be a booth dinette. When that table its not being used inside, it can be set up anywhere outside.
Might help if you told us what camper you are talking about.

RE: New TT

Congrats on the new trailer. Make sure the water to the shower is turned off, too. The little drip from the shower head can fill a gray water tank overnight!

RE: Laptop or iPad?

What will you use for Internet service? Are you planning on getting a 3G iPad with a data plan or something else? You won't be able to do everything on an iPad - even some web sites don't work.

Cubscout-
I got your private message and tried to respond, but you don't allow private messages! See https://www.virginia.org/ and search in the Shenandoah Valley for opportunities.

RE: Seasonal Sewer Connect

I have two separate clean outs and was able to merge them with PVC. I have the black and gray water from the bathroom draining lower than the gray water from the kitchen, though.

RE: Do I cancel AAA?

I have only used Good Sam for my car, believe it or not! I cancelled AAA when I became an RV owner and joined Good Sam.

RE: Palomino Gazelle Reviews (Quality)

I just bought a 2006 Puma by Palomino - I have no issues with the quality. It appears a lot of items are pulled off of the standard list and made options in the Puma line. But, it is a well built trailer.
Vanguard, the manufacturer of Palomino, was bought by Forest River in 2002. That's when the Puma and Sabre lines were introduced. Berkshire Hathaway bought Forest River in 2005. Palomino RV operates as a separate division of Forest River Inc. The info in this paragraph was obtained from http://www.palominorv.com/AboutUs/

RE: Camping with toddlers

I grew up camping and remember some of what we did for my baby brother. Do they have bikes or trikes? We used to take a little red wagon for gathering firewood. We also cooked everything over the campfire - popcorn, s'mores, meals, etc. All of the food was an adventure on its own! We fished, played ball, hiked, etc. Also, we stayed at a National Forest Park and they had kids' shows/activities every weekend. We never ran out of things to do.

RE: Our first TT campout

25 gallons of gray water? I agree with MegaJohn - you can cut down on this. In fact, we have found we use less water at home because we conserve more now. Teeth brushing, showering, dish washing, hand washing, etc. can all be done with very little water. We keep a dish pan in the kitchen sink and capture as much gray water as possible, using it to flush the toilet even.
Glad you all had a great time! I hope you have many years of camping ahead!

RE: How (where) do I sell my leftover RV Accessories?

Some campgrounds that have seasonal campers allow for yard sales and such. Also, if you have a campground near your home, perhaps you can put up a sign there.

RE: Palamino or Crossroads

I just bought a 2006 Palomino Puma 27FQ from its second owner. It is my 3rd trailer. I have also owned two pop-ups and one class C. I have found the Puma to be well built. It appears that a lot of items that were standard on my Gulf Stream are options on the Puma. What's there is installed properly and works well. The cabinets are all tight and beds are solid.

RE: Buyers Remorse??

I ordered a park trailer from a wonderful dealer. There were a few things I wanted that the manufacturer said couldn't be done. There were a few things the manufacturer didn't call my dealer about and my dealer didn't learn about until he picked it up. Everything was pretty small in the scheme of things, but each one was a disappointment. Now, 5 years later we STILL love our camper and don't lament the stuff that we were not able to have. I hope you choose to enjoy your new camper!

RE: New Jayco Owner

The battery will run the 12V appliances and lights. If the battery is charged, installed properly, and "on" (your camper may have a battery disconnect switch), it will run the "camper lights" on your ceiling, for example. Don't just try one light - try them all as some lights have wall switches as well as the switch on the light.
I hope this helps!

RE: Is awning repair tape worth the cost and effort?

I just bought a new-to-me trailer this past weekend. I will find out how the awning tape works! I got a great deal because the trailer has recently been in a hail storm. The top of the awning as it lay over the roller was pelted as was one side of the trailer. My plan is to remove the flakes and put awning tape over the top section. If that doesn't look good or hold up, I will simply buy a new awning next season.
