RE: What do I do with my sewer hose in the winter???

I also keep mine in a plastic tote and I just let it dry out good after every trip. I pull the tote out of the storage compartment and open the top when it's dry out. I haven't had any problem with odor in 6 years.

RE: cleaning out refridgerator or freezer

With the crazy weather we've been having lately in this country, I would make sure someone you trust has the keys to get in and check weekly. Also that they can clean out the freezer and make sure your pipes won't freeze.

RE: Helpful hints to simplify camping trip?

The best tip I can give you to simplify a camping trip with a tent is to practice at home before trying it at a campground when all you want to do is to do it fast. Try setting it up at home before especially with an older tent. Make sure don't have all the parts for the tent, out on a campground is not the time to find out
Tented many years before getting TT.

Just remember, you hear a lot more about problems then about trips where nothing happened.

RE: Halloween camping tent choices?

The tent capacity is based on people sleeping in sleeping bags and not for movement around the tent or supplies. So think about space needed for what you wnat to put in the tent and not just numbes

RE: Considering a 1982 Sunline TT 19' have questions, concerns.

I would think the entry handle might be a problem if it is loose because of dry rot. That might mean an old leak. Any other signs of leaks?

RE: Dining Booth

Have you ever sat in one of those booths for a long time. They are not the most comfortable things around. They also claim to be able to make up into another bed, but my grandson (13 yo) couldn't stretch out on it.

RE: Top layer of rubber roof separating

My dealer (who I trust completely) told me that I will need a new rubber for the roof. Got my TT in 05, but he says that the roof just do not hold up like they were suppose to. Said mine is "powdering" and showing it's age. But it's only 6 yo.

RE: Trailer Winterizing

Be sure to follow the winterizing instructions. Two years ago I held off doing it and had to replace my kitchen faucet. Got a shock when it leaked all over on my first campout that year.

RE: BUT..... I didn't NEED another dog!!

I know what you mean. I look at petfinder.com at least once a week. I already have 1 dog and 1 cat of my own, but I'm also taking care of 4 of my older daughter's cats. Twice I almost adopted a dog, first time it was taken before I cleared, next time, I had to replace my TV's tires and didn't have the money. But I still look for that "face" that calls to me.

RE: What DON'T you use??

I'll have to admit that I've haven't camped as much as some (about 5 times a year max). I think I've used the oven once. Stopped drinking campground water after getting some fowl smelling stuff, although I still use it for cooking or washing. I've only used the shower when I had full hookups. When I don't have full hookups, I try to use campground facilities as much as possible.

RE: Campgrounds open in November East Coast

Most of the private campgrounds in NE PA close some time in Oct. there are a few that stay open at least until Dec.. These may only provide electric (depending on the temp because their pipes might freeze). Many of the state parks that have camping are open later (same thing with water). You can check on pacamping.com for some of these, also the state campground website.

RE: dog riding in TT

I don't think I would ever do it no matter what the temp was. I've heard of too many horror stories on this and other forums about pets traveling in TT's alone. A dog can be plenty scared if not crated-tied down in a TT alone, especially traveling a distance.

RE: Our "stinky" neighbors @ Natural Tunnel SP, VA

While tent camping many years ago, ran into some curious skunks. They didn't seem to be afraid of us. We never chased them although some neighbors did. One actually came into the tent, checked us out then left. The next night, one came and sat with us to watch the fire, then left. Never had a problem with them being aggressive. I believe as long as you do not threaten the animals they will leave you alone.

RE: Camping fees

I live on the East coast and the fees are high in private campground. Like everything else it's "supply and demand". If the campground has good views, activities, etc.. It usually will demand highter fees. Outside of state and federal CG, it's usually $30-50 per night.

RE: Trailer towing mirrors for a 2006 chevy 2500hd

I used clip on mirrors when my DH was with me. After he passed I got a set of Mykeash (sP?) mirrors with the round ones and find I am comfortable driving with them. I find I am more sure of myself now than ever before.

RE: Somebody at your campsite when you arrived?

I can talk on the opposite side of the problem. I was at a campsite and was supppose to leave by noon or 1 pm and was approached by another rv'er that said that he was told that I had left the site at 11 am. As it was I had to move to another site (the place was like musical sites) and I had just found out the site I was scheduled to go to had been cleared. He was very understanding and gave me plenty of time to move to the other site.
The fault was in the office that told him I was already at the new site.

RE: Couldn't believe my eyes

Sounds the same as when I got my Toyata CRV. the salesman said that I could pull a trailer. Never said it had to be under 2500 lbs.. Found out different when we really went to buy a TT. Finally upgraded to a Chevy Trailblazer.Found out it was good on level roads, but not on hills. Finaley got a the Jeep. Feel much safer. Do your homework on what you want and make sure it is well within the towing weight of your TV.

RE: Across country in a Suburban and Tent

My experience goes back about 35 years. My new hubby, me and his 2 sons, went from New Jersey across country. The plan was to go to Disneyland, but had to turn back after Yellowstone. Eldest son got appendixcitis (sp?) there. What an experience. DH and I had been camping a good number of times before this trip. First few days got the boys trained on what their jobs were when we setup, etc. We could do it in less than 1/2 hour complete. A tarp for below the tent helped a lot and one big enough to put over it and make a awning was perfect in rainy weather (had extra poles to hold the front up). I think the tent was 10' x13'. Had a lot of fun, made a lot of memories even if we never made it to Disneyland.

RE: This time of year is for shedding.....

My Rocky is part lab, I am convinced that, that part is his butt. He walks around with "clumps" of fur sticking out around his hind quarters sticking out until I can brush him. I tell people that I don't have dustbunnies, I have dust elephants.
