RE: Duel battery mounting

Hi ml99,
This is what is balanced and best for twin twelve volt batteries.
http://www.rubyorchid.com/RV/images/Pianotuna12V.png
^ this... rule of thumb for us camping in 30 degree weather has been one night of heater per battery with moderate conservation on lighting (we use puck lights) *without recharging*.
2 12v batteries + 2 boxes was a tight squeeze on my A frame i had to hack up one of the boxes lids a little bit.

RE: Flo Jet Waste Pump System

i have this one: http://www.adventurerv.net/flojet-portable-waste-pump-p-629.html (note the lower price compared to CW)
it is the primary method i use to dump but its nice not having a permenent install so i can still use the stinky slinky at RV parks or on the road...
I use this to dump at home into a sewer cleanout. this for me because of the type of camping i do... is a must have item.

RE: Looking at a Skyline Texan, what do you guys know?

skyline = layton/nomad ; i almost bought one but ended up going with my current TT purely based on price... buying an orphan saved me about 3k over the similiar nomad model.

RE: Cool Mods

Are the portable ice makers 12v or 110v?
I agree that ice can be a healthy expense. We spent $50 or more our last trip out. 20 pounds last a day in 90-100 degree heat.
Block ice can last for days. I have used frozen gallons of water and had ice in them after two weeks.
I plan on using Glad disposable containers to in the freezer to make smaller ice blocks when boon docking. When we have hook ups, I'll leave the coolers home and use a 12v/ 110v mini fridge for beer and pop.
JinD
I've only sceen 110 for the quick serve kind. I borrowed a counter top model for our last trip it was quite nice it puts out 5-10 ice cubes every 10 minutes. which means your in margartittaville in no time.

RE: VERY Newbie needs help picking a tow vehicle!

What is the gear ratio, tongue weight and payload? Are these numbers listed somewhere on the vehicle?google 'vin decoder' pop your vin number in there and see what it says - your right gear ratio is an important number that gets overlooked

RE: Just a thought

kids (especially girls (i have 3 not including DW)) dance class seriously can not cost this much... and why do i pay money for my drama queen to be in a play??? shouldn't they be paying me?
the TT hasn't had any real significant cost... gas is expensive to tow it; and a set of tires but no big deal.

RE: VERY Newbie needs help picking a tow vehicle!

I quickly reduce your list to for that size TT: Toyota Sequoia, Dodge Durango.
I tow an ultra light that meets your specs with my expy and its getting a full work out.

RE: BigGuy scared on bed

consider that the mattress is going to distribute the weight a bit.. mine isn't sagging... yet
if it was i would probably just throw a board down the middle to split the weight in half.

RE: New TT registration and insurance?

After initial registration, file "non op" at a greatly reduced fee for all subsequent years.
you can't non op an RV in CA according to my last registration renewal... not that the OP is in CA but some how our state has entered into the discussion on this thread.
if you own your RV (no loan) you dont *need* insurance... but if it catches on fire or a tree falls on it... some ond does a hit and run while its parked etc etc... you will wish you had it.
