RE: Limp Mode on LMM Duramax

If your relying on the trucks display for MPG, it's way off with a chip installed. I have yet to have anyone prove, who hand calculates MPG, that they are getting any real significant fuel savings. I'm not saying you can't but mostly people honestly tell me is it more like .5 MPG or less, nothing tremendous considering the possible damage and complications that can arise from chipping. If you can reset it with your chip programmer, can you read the codes it put out when this happened. Should pretty much tell you what heppened.

RE: AutoMate back in business

Should be hydraulic and there will be a manual pump near the hydaulic oil tank.
You will have to look underneath, will be attached to the frame somewhere. Since I have two slides, mine is near the front.

RE: Small tears in roof

If you have a nearby Walmart, check the Auto Dept. I was surprised to find a roof patch kit in the RV section with ETERNABOND repair tape in it.

RE: Zerks on Chevy 3500

Nope, your 06 had 11, the one is a real bear to see and get too. I bought an 18 inch flexible hose just so I could get that one. Used to have to bend it into a loop and feel the zerk with my hand cause I couldn't see it lying under the truck, just knew it was there.

RE: Zerks on Chevy 3500

Think there should be 11, at least that's how many my 05 has. Not to say they couldn't have done away with some. Found my notes
4 = Upper and lower ball joints.
2 = Outer tie rods.
2 = Inner tie rods.
1 = Idler arm.
1 = Pitman arm.
1 = Center link.
However a quick check of the Diesel Place forum says that from model year 11 on there are only 9, so apparently you got them all.

RE: 2002 Monaco Windsor

Thanks for all the replies, I had actually thought it was mid-line but was well appointed and nearly identical to a Diplomat we had looked at. The differences were so subtle, I thought perhaps it was mostly chassis or engine differences.

2002 Monaco Windsor

Looking at a very nice Windsor. Can anyone tell me where it was in the Monaco lineup. I know the Executive is top of the line and I think a Diplomat is step up from the Windsor. Any help appreciated.

RE: The 96 Monaco Exec I want to buy has Aged Out Tires...

If he has owned this since new, I'd have to wonder about the rest of the maintenence. If he didn't see the need to put new tires on it, perhaps he let the rest of it slide too. Unless he can provide records for service, I think I'd walk from this one. There are too many bargains out there right now to take a chance on a maybe.

RE: So whats with all the crew cabs?

I agree OP and what's more, 95% of them are 4WD. Try finding a 2WD truck in anything other than a work truck. Not everybody in this world wants or needs a 4WD truck.

RE: AutoMate back in business

Can't be that great of a unit as I have -
never heard of them
never saw one in any CG, show or event, horse show, GS - escapees - KOA event
never saw one listed for sale
Hmmm... maybe they're only popular in your area cause they're local? Have to check them out if they're as good as you think.
You will find the greatest concentration of AutoMates on the west coast. Saw quite a few when we did Yosemite this past fall. I've only ever seen two in AZ besides mine. Love mine, great fit, finish and craftsmanship. Maintenance is not a chore, things are open and easy to get too, everything is well thought out and laid out with an eye towards servicing. I'd buy another if he builds 5vers again and maintains his previous standards. Only other unit I'd consider is a New Horizon and I can't afford a new one.

RE: Ford E450 Swivel Base Seat Question?

Seat belt sensor or sensor to tell air bag somebody is in the passenger seat. Those are my guesses but picture sure would help.

RE: welded or bolts

Either method is OK, BUT you better have somebody that really knows his stuff if you are going to weld. Very easy to damage the frame if you don't know what you are doing. The upfitters guide from the manufacturer will usually provide the parameters and what you can and cannot do regarding welding on the frame.

RE: 28 Foot 5er...Do We Need 2nd A/C

Depends where out west you are for the summer months. The Southwest including Texas, AZ, parts of CA, NV, parts of UT in the summer, if you don't have a second AC, you'll wish you did. It's apparent that your 5th wheel doesn't have the best insulation if the sun beating on it raised the indoor temp 20 degrees above the outdoor temp on a 60 degree December day. What will it be like if you see 105 degrees with the sun beating on it? I'd rather have one (2nd AC) and not need it than wish I had it and didn't. Could be miserable in the afternoon and take hours for it to cool off in the evening.

RE: Beware Hwy 99 in San Joaquin Valley

Gotta agree with you on that one. 99 was one of the worst roads we were on between Bakersfield and Fresno, just a week ago. What's up with all the rest stops closed too?? I usually take a break and walk around, don't use the facilities, that's what my bathroom is for, but I do like to stop.

RE: Just returned from Hershey Show Lowdown on Lippert

I have no dog in this fight but, if Lippert frames are so bad why do 90% of the TT makers use their frames? If it is such known junk RV manufacturer's keep buying them up.
Ultimately the RV manufacturer's must be responsible for the frames. Are they not inspecting the frames and welds when they arrive at the plant for imperfections? Or are they getting what they asked for and slapping the units together? I think we see the end results and know the answer.
Manufacturers keep buying them because unless you build your own, they are about the only game in town. Most of the smaller guys have disappeared or been bought out by Lippert Components when the economy went south. I can see what the OP is saying. The bad welds are a Lippert problem, but frame selection and specs are up to the builder.
