RE: Advice On New Fiver Purchase

We were looking at the 427BHS. I got a quote from The RV Express of 49,143 based on a MSRP of 71,040 the way we chose the options. That was picked up at Middlebury IN. We decided against the Open Range and chose the Montana Mountaineer Edition 346LBQ instead. It is 39' long and has the outdoor kitchen. We just spent our first long weekend in it and absolutely love the floor plan. This is our 4th 5er with the last 3 being bunkhouses(02 Jayco 305BHS, 08 Crossroads Cruiser CF31QB). We feel like it is the best floor plan for our needs we have seen in a 5er and the quality is very good. I think it would be safe to say that I looked at most every bunkhouse floorplan out there via the internet before deciding on the Montana.

RE: confused about topsail NC and surf city??

There was a campground with direct beach access on Topsail Island. My parents brought their motorhome down for my birthday in 1985 so I could spend the weekend with them while I was attending Infantry School at Camp Lejeune. I found Surf City Family Campground in North Topsail Beach here Surf City Family Campground. Looking at the sattelite view on the map, I'm pretty sure this is it. The last review was in 09 and the website link went somewhere else. There is a phone number you could try.

Bunk and loft are twin size and if they don't want to go when they get older, we will make it into a den. I'll get some inside pics this weekend, the kitchen is the best we could find in a bunkhose, lots of counterspace that DW loves. 3 slides on off door side and a king size bed for us. We LOVE it.

RE: New Montana 3402

Congratulations and enjoy it. We just picked up our Montana Mountaineer edition today and absolutely love it. My brother was a James Island this past weekend and saw a new Montana pull in with the 6-point leveling system and said it was awesome. He talked to the owner while he leveled it and was very impressed. I wish we had it, but, I don't think it was an available option on the Mountaineer.

RE: Jekyll island campground

We're going to be there June 16-23 with two of our grandkids, 8 and 6, for the first time. We'll be in G32 if you happen to be there at the same time.

RE: New 5er Ordered!

Ordered this afternoon and already in production? That's FAST! Ours took 8 weeks from order to PDI last fall. Enjoy! :E We got lucky. When we first started talking, the lead time was 4 weeks. I called Montana and they happened to have two of this model in production. Our dealer called the plant and the first one was just like we wanted except for the free standing table and chairs so they were willing to change it. Our dealer also took the other one so I guess that helped. It worked out real good considering we are going to Jekyll Island June 16th. We already have two weekends reserved in our local campground to make sure everything works fine before heading to Jekyll. Sorry for rambling on, just a little excited.

RE: New 5er Ordered!

Thanks. We're one step closer, she came off the production line today. Now we're "patiently":R waiting for it to be delivered to the dealer. If they would have let me pick it up, it would be in my driveway tomorrow.

Kingsport, TN to Jekyll Island, GA

We live near the intersection of Interstates 81 and 26 and I'm debating which route to take. Normally I would just take 26 across Sam's Gap to Ashevile, but, I'm debating on taking 81 to 40 to Asheville and it's 50 miles further. We are trading 5ers going from 11k pounds to 14k pounds and was wondering if the grades on 40 being less would be worth the extra 50 miles.

New 5er Ordered!

Well, we are no longer looking, unit ordered this afternoon, 2013 Montana Mountaineer 346LBQ:B. I have to say that our local dealer, Crowder RV, and Keystone went above and beyond to make this deal happen. Unit is already in production like we wanted except for the freestanding table and chairs and they are changing that. The amazing part is that it comes off the line May 8th and we will have it by the 18th. Obviously a great company to deal with. I guess no sleep for me for the next 16 days or so:C.

RE: Towing lights for 5th wheel problem

You don't have the year and brand of truck in your signature. IF you have a later model Dodge, there are no fuses for the trailer lights. Only the Dealer can do a "reset" in the TPMS module. I had the same thing happen to me when I owned a 2006 Dodge Ram. Good luck, Phillip Very common problem with the Dodges (and expensive to replace the module) although mine only failed on the right turn signal. The plug on the truck tested okay since it put out enough current for the tester, but not enough to light the bulb. Does sound more like a ground issue since all lights are out. Okay you two got me here. Where is this TPMS module for future reference. Guess I've been lucky so far :P Etrailer or auto parts stores sell them? Thanks Sorry for hi jack OP. Sending you a pm about my experience with TPMS and modulite.

RE: Jekyll Island

Thanks chuggs, sounds like a place we will love. We live on 4 acres in the woods so we really like that type of place. I'll be sure to try some of those shrimp.

Jekyll Island

I made reservations for June 16-23 and was assigned site G11. For those that have been there, is this a good site? We have a 35' 5er.

RE: Asheville, NC-Campfire Lodging RV Park

Send me a pm with your email address and I will send you a link to see our photos on my wife's snapfish account from our trip there. The river is down in the valley and there is a small pond you can walk to. We had the grandkids fishing in the pond a caught a couple of small fish that made them happy.

RE: 2nd trip with new fiver and used Ram Cummins

Wifes not used to the '05 diesels noise ?/ LOL. Put her in a '02 or older Cummins. Dang things are loud enough to kill even a rednecks brain cells. Then she will for sure like the '05. Congrats and enjoy. When I was still driving my 97 with muffler deleted that I've since given to my son, my mom had a couple visiting from Georgia. After I drove up her driveway and got out they were sitting on the carport and the lady said I sounded like a city bus coming up the drive. I just grinned ear to ear and said thank you. The first trip in the 04 my wife commented on how quiet it was and that we could actually carry on a conversation now:S I added an AriDog II last month since my lift pump went out again and have picked up about 1 to 1-1/2 mpg (hand calculated) driving around town. I think the 05 had the lift pump moved for the fuel filter canister to the tank so you may not have a problem with yours.
