RE: Rt 35 Oregon I 84 to Mt Hood Village Resort

Have towed over that route when we stayed at Mt Hood Villages and it is not that bad. Other route is a little easier but it is quite a ways further if your are coming from the east. Unless you have a very large TT I would turn at Hood River.

RE: Rim Replacement

I've had pretty good luck fixing bent rims over the years by hammering the dent out if its not to big.

RE: How do you handle leaving pets while site seeing?

We have found a couple of campgrounds that had facilities for day care but they are few and far between. Some like the Kennedy Space Cenrter have facilities to leave youi dog while you tour but again these are rare. Think this is a need that needs to be filled.

RE: Cross-Country Trip - What do I need to know?

On all the new RVs we've had some of the lug nuts need tightening after a few hundred miles.

Took our 24' motor home over a few years ago with no problem, a little expensive as I remember.

RE: Roof penetration caps?

Just replaced one - only ones I saw were plastic and cheap. Only take one screw removal but the screw head was covered by sealant. Then had to drill the hole out on the new one.

RE: Senior pass

We have the same situation but it's good to have both since there are some discounts that a pass is only good for one person.

Dog Friendly Place

Just got back from a week stay the NC OBX with our old Beagle with us. Was suprised to find that all the beaches we went to we could take the dog along. Apparently some don't allow it after Labor Day but some do. Also we found several eating places that allowed dogs in the outside table area. (we liked the Aqua S in Duck and the Brewery in Maonteo. There is also a great Dog Store in Duck run by a very freindly couple. Didn't find any trails or outside areas that were restricted, but there was a $3 charge to take her into the Elisabethan which was fine with us. Wish there were more places like this, since most RV'ers are willing to pick after their dogs. Would seem to be good for tourism and for the businesses. Unfortunateally the visitor centers didn't have any specific info on dog friendly locations so we had to depend on the internet.

RE: Looking for A New TT. RV Direct? or RVW?

We bought from RVW twice and they did exactly what the said even though the local dealer said they wouldn't sell at the quoted price. Had no problem with getting waranty or service work done.

We were there last week and did 12 all the way several times. A little road work and some one lane with short delays, no big problems

RE: Towing with 2005 Avalanche

I had a 05 AV 4X4 with the same drivetrain as yours and towed two different TTs with it both about 5k lbs+. My wife takes everything so that adds 1k or so but never weighted it after she loaded it. Went over the Rockies and back 4 different times. The long grades are slow but running high RPMs on a well maintained engines shouldn't hurt it. Be aware the 05s did not come with a trans cooler even with the trailer package. Don't tow without one. Our new truck has the same basic engine but the six apeed tranny which makes it tow a lot better.

RE: Winterizing new within hours RV - freeze tonight

What I have done in OH in the past is put an electric heater (I use an oil filled) inside. Hve done it for years in fall or spring when I want to use it. Generally drain the fresh water if it goes below high 20s. With enclosed under belly it can get pretty cold before you'd have a problem.

RE: Rodanthe Campgrounds

I called the OBX KOA yesterday and mentioned the $25 rate for 7-12 May and they gave it to me. The last reservations we had were ruined by the storm last year hope it doesn't happen again.
