RE: Honda EU2000i - 49 State vs 50 State Difference?

I had an interesting experience. I wanted to purchase two Honda generators. I called Wise sales, and got their price, and found out they don't ship to California. So I called around getting other prices and found the cheapest price was right here in the Golden State. I contacted the Honda dealer in Ukiah and they were helpful friendly and the best price (including Wise Sales for the non- CARB),even though their Hondas were CARB reliant.

Cardinal vs Blue Ridge vs Cedar Creek

If anyone could tell me which fifth wheel is best in the order. In other words, it appears as if the Cardinal has more parts and is a bit better than the Cedar Creek, and the Blue Ridge is a bit better than the Cardinal. I want to know if I am correct. You see why I ask the question, I liked the 3100 model of the Cardinal, but they make it with 3 slides now. So I am seeking out the Blue Ridge or the Cedar Creek. Their plans of the model seems to be what I want which is like the old Cardinal with two slides. But there is none to be found locally. So before hitting the road, I want input on the quality of the units.

troublewith the inverters,or sand/dust

I had a problem with me electrical system in my fiver and was wondering what happened. I was boondocking in Quartzsite, with my Honda generator. One day I noticed that the meter inside the trailer was showing only 1/2. Thinking my batteries were going bad,I pulled stakes and headed to Yuma. In Yuma,I plugged into power at the park. The meter only 1/2 to 3/4. I disconnected the batteries, and the meter went to 3/4 charge. I checked the batteries over the day, and they seemed to be full. Then at night, when people were in therig and all the lights were on, I noticed that the lights suddenly were brighter. I checked the meter again and found everything was now normal. The meter showed full charge, the batteries are now full charge. It has been this way for three days now. What is the problem? Did dust or sand get between something? I am at a lost to figure it out.

Does Direct tv have a policy on how many times

We are camping with a group of friends. One of them called Direct TV and changed his local reception. When he called to change it back to his home local channels, the tech told him that is the last time for 6 months that he can change. The tech said that the policy is not to let the person change more than 2 times a year. Has anyone heard of this policy?

RE: Quartxsite

Of course you can do it. But there is some give and take. First of all getting there. It is two hours less time to enjoy the events. Four hours if you count the drive back. Parking is a problem. The parking lot gets full fast, and coming later in the morning, the area they people are talking about, is very soft gravel, and people get stuck there quite a bit. There is a solution. Leave Mesa, and tell them you will be back so they don't rent your space out. Bring your rv to Quartzsite and pay the fee, which is not too much, around $30-$40 for the BLM land behind the tent. Then you can spend days there enjoying all that there is to see and do. After a few days, pack up and travel back to Mesa. That is what we are planning to do from Yuma. We tried to see what there is to see and do in Quartzsite, and it was frustrating and a long drive (about 1 hour and 10 minutes).

RE: AutoMate back in business

We saw them last year at the rv show in Sacramento. It was good to see them again, and the unit was well made. One suggestion made to the person selling the unit, was that they put very few cabinets in them. So storage was at a premium.

RE: Little Red Campfire

A friend has one and brings it camping with him. One thing, as a negative, it uses up a lot of propane. Other than that, it works fine.

RE: Sacramento To Reno

You may find snow in April. It is iffy. Watch the weather and the road reports and you will be fine. As for the climb. I have been over the summit many times without any problem. If there would be a problem, it is going down (Eastbound) from the summit to Truckee. It is a steep grade, but I have the tow haul mode, and the truck handles it fine. Going up (Westbound) is slow going but it is not too long of a grade. Enjoythe trip. It is beautiful seeing the trees, the lakes.

RE: Camping near Yoesmite? Help finding a spot

You can try the Yosemite Pines rv park in Groveland, CA. There is a steep grade to get into Groveland called Priest Grade. But it is do-able. The rv park is about 20 minutes to Yosemite entrance. There is Hetch Hetchy reservoir to visit. And the views are spectacular. To bet to the valley is about another 1/2 hr drive.

RE: Black Water Valve

Doody, I think that you may have found what could be the cause of my problem. I asked the wife what she used to clean the toilet, and she said it was Lysol. I looked at the container, and it contained bleach. We are not going to use bleach any more, or make sure it is well rinsed.

RE: Black Water Valve

The problem was that liquid only was seeping past the seals. After a couple of days, it was quite a bit of liquid. I have a valve at the end of the drain pipe. That is how I know it (the black water valve) was leaking. I got home, and filled the black water with clean water. I made sure the other two gray water was empty. It did what I suspected, it leaked. The valve was changed and fixed. It no longer leaks. It has nothing to do with hard stuff acting like stones. Every time I drain the tanks, I do so ensuring they are completely empty, only fresh water comes out. If I understand the service writer correctly, and it does not make any sense at all, I should have water in the tanks with chemicals at all times. I still wonder, it that is true, why the two gray water tanks don't leak after almost 9 years.

Black Water Valve

I just had the black water valve replaced in my fifth wheel. It is the 3rd we have had to replace in the 8 going on 9 years that we have owned the trailer. I asked the service writer why, as it seemed excessive to replace the valve every three years. His answer was that there should be water in the tank, keeping the seals moist. After I left the dealership I thought about it and it dawned on me, why does the other two gray water valves, which I empty more often than the black water valve, not fail? Can anyone answer that question?

RE: analog to digital converter box questions

To: Ready to Go I had checked and found that they have seperate switches. And I have used the boxes before. In reference to your second question, I had switched them before, and did notice that the problem #1, that is. the input of the signal was not quite the same in the BR as it was in the LR. To: skipnchar I did check them individually. It is frustrating. Maybe I should wish that Santa would bring me two new TVs. Moderator's edit: added a space after each colon.

analog to digital converter box questions

I have two analog converter boxes, one for the living room television and one for the bedroom television. I have two questions. First, when I operate the both tv's at the same time, the one in the bedroom does not catch the same amount of channels as the one in the lr. Why? Does the lr box "steal" some of the signal coming in? More importantly, this past week I stayed at a park where I had previously received channels, not on the converter box. I set up, but could not find any signal, even though the park said that I should get about 10 channels. I changed the direction at every selection, nothing. Why? There is a batwing attached to my antenna. In other places, there is no problem receiving the signal. Now I wonder, if I am receiving all channels? Or is it the nature of the beast to not get all the channels?

RE: Mandatory dumping of holding tanks upon arrival

We have stayed at the Jackson Rancheria RV Park many times. We asked them about why they did the dumping of the sewer before checking in. They said the reason is that they are totally self contained. They do not hook into the City or the County services. They are afraid of introducing formaldehyde into their system. So to assure that, they check every rig and provide them with a blue chemical which is envriomentaly sound. They are an outstanding park. People are impressed with the way they treat all the visitors. They are always cleaning up te park. They provide trips to the casino by bus. They have trips into town. I can't say enough good about them.

RE: Mini oil heater in bedroom

Hi there, I appreciate your input. I re-checked the ad, and checked on the users' comments. There was too much negative, a few positive. I think that I will pass on it. I liked the idea of having a slow, efficient yet small heater, just to take the chill off when it is real cold at night. Say like visiting Las Vegas, to visit my son. It gets down to around 29 degrees. Any suggestions?

Mini oil heater in bedroom

Amazon is advertising they have an Optimus mini oil filled heater for $29.99. I am thinking about getting one for the bedroom, but have several questions. The advantage would be, no noise at all. And, depending on the answers, the heating would be a small amount, just enough to take off the chill. 1. It advertises that it uses 500 watts of power. Is that enough to feel it in the bedroom? 2. Does it get hot enough that placement is critical? In other words, if it is placed in the middle of the walkway to avoid being to close to the cabinet or bed, then will it be in the way (you know, in the middle of the night trips to the loo). Or does it not get hot enough that you can place it close to the cabinet (not the bedding). 3. Is that a good price? (no tax and no shipping) 4. I have not heard of Optimus before, is that a reliable manufacurer?

RE: Fifth wheel leveling systems

We saw them in the Cameos (Bigfoot). More recently we saw them in the Bighorn.

RE: The Next Honda EU2000i Should [fill in the blank]

Make it easy to hook up the green wire (ground) without having to carry a screwdriver. A simple hook up, similar to the one used for the positive and negative would be outstanding.

Is it worth it?

I was looking for satellite finders for a neighbor, and came across some items that I was wondering if anyone out there had any experience in these. For example, I was pricing out the Winegard SF1000 satellite finder, and the price was $31.16 (shipping free) at Amazon. They had two others, both advertised for Direct TV, as being $3.49 and the other $3.72 (+ 4.95 shipping). Is it worth the price difference to get the cheaper models, or should I recommend to him that the Winegard is the one?
