Atwood Water Heater Need to Drain?

We have a 2011 28Z Chateau which has Atwood water heater. I understand these tanks are aluminum and have no anode rods. Do you need to drain the tank if you are not going to your rig for several weeks? Thanks.

RE: Looking at class c's

Lots of coach problems with our 2011 Chateau 28Z by Thor the first year. At the dealer several times. Hope this year is better. Good dealer service is the key.

Two Battery Charging

I have two coach batteries in my 2011 Chateau 28Z class C motorhome. Can I charge them together with a Battery Tender connected to the positive post on one battery and the negative post on the other battery?

V-10 Synthetic vs Conventional Oil

2011 Chateau with V-10 Ford chassis. Who is using synthetic and who is using conventional oil? Do they come from factory with semi synthetic I thought I read somewhere?

Window Rattle Chateau 28Z

The street side window over the couch rattles excessivley in our 2011 28Z Chateau. The dealer has put in a kit of window channel shims and now ordered another rubber gasket kit. Very annoying while driving. Any one with experience or fixes?

Coach Battery Charging

We bought a 2011 Class C Thor Chateau 28Z and have the batteries on Battery Tenders while in storage. They are inside away from extreme temps. Is it best for these deep cycle batteries to be kept constantly charged or should they be allowed to run down and then recharged?

RE: Sorry Camper

We went from a 37` 5er to a 30` class C after the 5er pushed my GMC Duramax dually through a stop light in Delaware and just about hit a Perdue chicken 18 wheeler. NEVER felt like I could stop adequately and getting into state campgrounds was a problem. Now feel much more in control even when we use a tow tolly and pull our PT Cruiser. Only problem is we have had alot of quality issues with this unit (Thor Chateau 28Z). Still glad we changed however. Too bad I don`t have the Duramax diesel in this rig.

RE: Broken leaf spring -- narrowly escaped disaster

We had a montanna 3400 and never felt comfortable with the build quality of the suspension especially the spring hangers. Kept it two years and traded it in on a class C. Glad we did. Much more comfortable with traveling.

RE: Thinking about trading the Travel Trailer for a Class C

We went from a 37` 5er to a 29` class c. Glad we did for manuverability. We felt resticted by the size of the 5er and I never felt comfortable towing it. I agree with you statement about driving a big pickup around tourist areas. I still have my CC dually, but do not miss it when I can park anywhere I want with our PT Crusier. That being said, we bought a Thor Chateau 28Z and cannot reccommend this brand as we have had multiple problems with it since July of this year. Good luck and do your home work before buying. Quality control is suspect to say the least in the RV industry.

A Duramax diesel/Allison drive train! Have a 3500 dually crew cab I kept from my fifth wheel days and it pulls like a freight train!

Would I have problems with overloading electrical loads if I have my tow dolly plugged into dealer installed 7 pin plug and then having tow lights for my toad plugged into the 4 flat plug that came on the RV?

Quality Control?

I am amazed and disgusted with the lack of quality control apparent in the RV industry. We recently traded in our previous RV on a 2011 model (makes no difference on type or brand) and have had it back to the dealer more than it has been in our driveway since this summer. It may be time to get into another form of traveling and get this monkey off my back!

RE: to tow or not to tow

If it is under your towing capacity why not. I tow a PT Cruiser with a Master Tow car dolly with electric brakes with my Chateau 28Z with the V-10 engine. Use tow/haul and it does pretty good. Always want more power, but its ok. Gas milage sucks, but its an RV. You know that going in!
