RE: Forest River Sunseeker

We bought a 2860 new in 2007 and have been very pleased with it overall. Some of the interior fit and finish could have been done better but nothing major. Over the last five years we've averaged more than 40 nights/year and everything still works as it should.

RE: Awning maintenance

Dometic recommends that you mix 1/4 cup dish washing liquid and 1/4 cup bleach in 5 gallons of water. Use a brush to coat both sides of the awning with the mixture and roll it up for about an hour then unroll and rinse. I've found this to be very effective but if you have more than minor mildew double the bleach and do a little extra scrubbing on the worst mildew spots.

RE: Auburn, Al. campgrounds

We stayed at Leisure Time Campground overnight on our way to Florida a couple of years ago. We had a pull thru site that was spacious and level. The folks in the office were very friendly and the campground appeared to be well maintained. It's located south of I85 at exit 51.

Easy greenbeans. 1 package frozen whole greenbeans 2 strips of bacon 1 can of mushrooms several green onions, chopped Place a strip of bacon on a piece of heavy duty aluminum foil add the greenbeans, mushrooms and onions place a strip of bacon on top salt and pepper to taste seal the foil and cook on the grill on low heat for about 30 min. You can also cook these in the oven at 350.

RE: 5 Expensive things you shouldn't buy........

I've had people ask me how much I save by camping instead of taking "traditional" vacations. My reply is that we don't really save any money and if anything, we spend more. The big difference is that instead of a couple of weeks of vacation, camping gives us closer to six weeks of vacation. Add to that the fact that you always have your own bed, bath and kitchen at your disposal and it seems like a no-brainer. I also like to tell folks that it's kind of like buying a vacation home except that it's only in the same place as last time if you want it to be.

Mine has a label beside it that confirms alpenliter's explanation.

RE: Stinky toilet

While the problem is probably as you describe, don't rule out odor from your grey water tank. We had a terrible odor in ours a few years ago and it turned out that it was a combination of a stinky grey tank and the water being sloshed out of the bathroom sink trap on the way home. It was very puzzling at the time because I could open the flush valve on the toilet and get close enough to tell that there was no bad odor coming from the black tank(it had been emptied, rinsed with a wand, and had water and chemicals added back)yet the inside of the RV smelled like a sewer. After running water in both the kitchen and bathroom sink, the odor went away. We started treating the grey tank on a regular basis and haven't had a problem since.

RE: Fridge lp gas or electric ?

In "Auto" mode, the fridge will run on 110V AC when it's available and gas when it's not. In "Gas" mode it will run on gas ONLY, whether 110V is available or not. Mine is a 2 way so I can't speak to what a 3 way will do. They actually cool better on gas than they do on 110V. As noted in newlee's post they will run for weeks on a standard 20# LP tank as long as you're not using the stove and/or furnace a lot.
