RE: Great, cheap LED lights for your unit

I replaced all of my incandescant bulbs with these about a year ago and now half of them don't work. I replaced them with 36 SMD's which are much brighter and emit a 'warm' light. I hope the new one's last longer.

RE: Good Sam ERS & Cracker Barrel

Seems like some towns frown on RV parking in store parking lots. When we stay at Cracker Barrel the manager tells us "Don't ask and we won't tell". Good for them. We always eat there when we can and buy at Wally World whenever we overnight there. Nice people.

RE: How did you attach diamond plate

How thick is the diamond plate? If it is the thin stuff, the industrial strength 3M will hold. Also, the thin plate can more easily be shaped to fit. I applied it to my front cap after a tree limb crack near the top and it looks like a factory job. First I drilled the ends of the crack to prevent creep and placed EternaBond tape to water proof. The 3M tape (from Home Depot) was applied around the entire permeter with additional pieces placed around the inside. No holes to crack. Before doing all this, I placed a test piece on the front cap and had to use a pry bar to remove it. Good Luck.

RE: Yamaha 2400is- Carrying in the Back Seat

You can install a rear cargo carrier on the rear of whatever you're pulling. Then secure the 2400 to it. If you are in a slide-in P/U truck, mount the carrier on the front.

RE: Hole in front of 5th wheel

A thin sheet of diamond plate would fix the hole and protect it in the future. I've seen it on the bottom front of some trailers and fivers.
We used thin diamond plate to cover a crack in the front cap. We used industrial strength double-stick (3M with red backing) to attach it to the cap. Looks like 'factory' install. Be sure to place it EXACTLY where you want it.... it won't come off.

RE: Dangers in Organ Pipe National Monument?

It's a real shame that we cannot use the recreational areas we pay for and love. All for the sake of being 'Politically Correct'.

RE: Dangers in Organ Pipe National Monument?

I think there is some sort of law against using federal troops for that but I don't know the law or why it exists--perhaps it's to ensure the military can't act in civilian matters.
Can you declare martial law in a small geographical area? I don't know but I like the idea.
The law you are thinking of is "Posse Comitatus" It basically prohibits U.S. Military from policing U.S. citizens except when Martial Law is declared. Since illegal aliens are 'Foreign Nationals' they are considered fair game for our military, as long as it's not TOO politically incorect.
Yes, you can declare Martial Law in specific geagraphical areas. Remember Katrina?
Be safe my friend.

RE: Dangers in Organ Pipe National Monument?

It's no more dangerous than going into Mexico. You'll PROBABLY be o.k but would you feel safe bringing your kids there? Better yet, bring your Congressman there and watch him get the jitters at night.
P.S. The National Park Service personnel travel within the monument with armed guards. I know this because my DW worked for the NPS and was required to visit there on business. She had an escort.

RE: LED Lights

Considering the cost of LEDs and the fact that brake lights and turn signals and running lights only get used with the engine running and providing power it makes no sense to me to change from incandescent to LED. Why bother??? There is no way you'll get better mileage!
Ditto! It does make sense with new manufacturing because LED's require smaller wiring and copper ain't cheap. Otherwise, it's a status thing.

RE: Windows/ insulating

Hi--been there, done that. As you have found, a dramatic difference! We did that too, but found the plexi a pain to put up and take down (we used magnetic tape on both surfaces) and then we had to store them when they were not being used (dirt, scratches, etc). We found that we prefer the shrink film type of storm windows that you apply with double-faced tape and shrink with a hair dryer. Same dramatic difference when installed, easier to put up and take down and no storage problems. Once they are up and shrunk tight, you don't even know they are there!
Ditto.
Our film install is still going strong after 4 years. Cheap too.

If you spend mega-bucks for nitrogen at your friendly dealership you'll get these nifty 'green' valve caps so you can look down your nose at those of us that use 'plain-ol-air'. That's gotta be a plus for somebody. Just sayin.

RE: Waxing our RV motorhome...

UPDATE!! ZEP Wet-Look looks great. It took three coats but was really easy to apply... I used a large sponge and just wiped it on. I did have some problems with it running and had to reduce the thickness of each coat. Now it looks like a new RV. Time will tell how it lasts.
