RE: Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B9) May 18-20, 2012

I've posted some photos...
Always fun to see B vans looking like "regular" sized RVs when parked next to other B vans. :B
Thanks for posting, David!
P.S. Looks like at least two of the Canadians made it across the border, so B9 is officially an international rally, yet again. :)

RE: Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B9) May 18-20, 2012

Yes, we took a break from Bingo and have the Hypnotist this year. Be prepared to volunteer.
NickI won't be missing bingo..
I cannot believe you did not have fun at bingo last year, rbrogan. The hostess was so charming lol.
I'm still planning to hit the road Friday morning. Lots of loose ends to tie up (or leave hanging) before I roll.
To everyone on the road: B Safe. To everyone already at the campground: B Good. :W

RE: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?

Unfortunately...I put it up for sale today. Van is in great shape, can't say the same for the health of the owners. Gonna miss ya'll, but will still be following on RV.Net
Barb & Bob,
Gosh, I'm so sorry to read you are not in good health. You two were among the very first "B Rally" attendees in 2004 ... so brave & daring to camp with a complete bunch of strangers you had "met" online ... what fun we had at Berea, and at the rallies that followed! Do stay in touch with the forum, and best wishes in finding a new owner for your van.
On topic: Um, uh, yesterday, I re-parked my van further down the driveway, making it less of a target for cars going into the garage.

RE: Not sure where to put this...

B owners frequently discuss how to mark their campsites as occupied when they drive out for the day. This full scale "van" would be perfect!
Great find, Davydd, and thanks, mumkin, for doing the euro/dollar conversion. I think I need one lol.

RE: Ham radio in my Roadtrek - rig and installation suggestions

Well then your initial question would be retorical, as if you were....you would know what kind of radio to install as well as where and how to install it. :h
Your second post, and you're already being snarky??

RE: Step one. Bought the van.

... How does the Sportsmobile Top work in cold weather?
WVvan, hope you don't mind a fellow penthouse top owner jumping in here. I snipped this from the SMB site:
" ... convertible car-top vinyl-impregnated fabric exterior ... The fabric interior is mildew and condensation resistant. Since it doesn't breathe it helps hold heat out in summer and inside in the winter..."
The top (and I) have survived camping with temps dropping overnight into the mid-thirties. Can't comment on sub-freezing weather, though. HTH.

RE: Class A and Class B

Nick, are you sure you're that old? I honestly thought you were in your mid-fifties, and dear, sweet Chris ... No Way is she old enough to "winter" in a Class A.
Thank goodness you're keeping the B. All that stooping and bending and moving around in confined spaces is good for you :)
Looking forward to seeing you & the Explorer at B-9.

RE: Texas considering 85mph speed limit

I hope the right hand lanes are nice and smooth not all eaten up by trucks. I get maximum mileage at about 60. You can't even go 85 in a stock Sprinter.
I hope the folks pulling boats with 65 MPH limit ST trailer tires don't think they can drive 85 MPH just because the sign says they can.

... On second thought that is a form of relocation. Yikes. What would Bob or Tiger have to say about that?? Rhetorical question, of course.

RE: Tire Monitor System Update

My PW Excel has a TPMS also. For some reason lately the TPMS flashes and then stays lit constantly while driving. All the tires are at the correct pressure. This is just a bunch of******that vehicle manufacturers are now required to put on their vehicles per government regulations. Because some people aren't smart enough to check the air pressure in their tires we all now have to put up with this...
I totally hear you. What makes the whole situation even crazier is that different manufacturers are using different TPMS systems. Nothing is "standard" in O.E. or aftermarket. Some sensors are valve based, some are strapped to the wheel inside the tire, some are integrated with the ABS sensors, etc. Personally, I've yet to figure out how sensors in a one-ton van are going to be programmed to "know" I like 65 PSI in my front tires and 80 PSI in the rear.
The reason I'm posting, however, is to say thanks for the follow-up, Ron. I was wondering what you found out.

RE: Step one. Bought the van.

SMB offers a (Ford only) under floor storage box for about $700. I'd be surprised if it was as roomy as yours, or held the weight of someone standing in it. Looks like a terrific addition for your van.

RE: Stretched our B

Hi Ron & Sally,
Someone at B8 told me you had committed treason, er, uh, I mean bought a Class A. I simply could not imagine you choosing to drive and maintain an enormous, monster motorhome.
How fun to see that you've selected a miniature A :)
My burning question is ... does it have the drop-down Studio Loft??
Via Studio Loft
Talk about the ultimate pet palace! Thanks so much for checking in with the B forum. Of course, you're always welcome here. I'm still working too many days at the family business, but I'd love to see you both someday at a BEE SOCIAL.

Twenty-seven vans registered for B9 already ... Wow! Thank you Nick & Chris for "stepping up" to host.
I'm looking forward to exploring an area east of Streetsboro called Nelson Ledges, and also hope to squeeze in a visit to the Hall of Fame in Canton. Go Colts!
Thanks again :)

RE: Tire Pressure Light & Tire Monitor System - Fueling Tank

Contacted Chevrolet concerning my issue with the Tire Pressure Light coming on and staying on after operating the RoadTrek couple hours on the highway, and the Tire Pressure Monitor System displaying a PSI reading on one tire in the rear and 3 dashes on the other tire in the rear.
Also, it will do the same display of PSI for the front tires, and sometimes dashes for all 4 tires. My front tires the PSI is 50, the rear tires PSI is 80 when cold as suggested by RoadTrek. After operating the RoadTrek for 2 hours or more on a highway, the PSI will increase as much as 15 or 20 PSI per tire which I have experienced.
On a hot day, operating 2 hours or more on a highway I would expect an increase in the PSI per tire.
I'll throw out a guess that you have one or more faulty TPMS sensors The TPMS system came original equipment?
If you're still within a warranty period, try to get all four sensors replaced by a Chevrolet dealer. Or, have an independent tire shop replace them, one by one, to see if the dash issue goes away.
In the mean time, you can carry an old-fashion tire gauge and maybe put some black electrical tape over the TPMS display :)
