Onan Generator stops running

I have a 97 Fleetwood with an Onan Marquis 5000 generator. The generator will start and run sometimes for 20 minutes sometimes for hours and then just stops. After about 5 minutes it will usually start back up and run again for sometimes an hour or may be 10 minutes or may be even many hours then it will just quit and it does it when sitting still and when driving.
