RE: Our dept is going EcoBoost -updated w/pics-

I have found that the only good police vehicle was the Ford Crown Vic. During my 30+ years, I have driven them all.
You must have missed the mid eighties Mustang 5.0 CHP version :B She would catch ANYTHING then call for the CV to haul them to the pokie.
Do they install the short 12 gauge in the white one IB? Looks a bit short but knowing Canada they may not have them, or should I say need them :W
We had a few 5.0 Mustangs and a few Ford LTD II with 5.0. They were for the traffic enforcement unit. I never drove either one. All my traffic enforcement time was on a Harley. Remember I live in Florida," The Sunshine State", well except for when it's raining like mad.

The Dodge and Plymouth Dipomats were dogs, as was the Chevy Caprice(ours had 305 engines and not 350). Then we tried the mid 90's Taurus, but they were too small, for patrol use. We had Crown Vics after that which worked out well for patrol. We have the smaller Chevy Malibu's for detectives and Lt's and up., but they didn't use the back seats that often.
I did my time, and now see a few Dodge Chargers showing up, but never drove one.
We don't have many trucks here except the guys in the marine unit. probably a whole different world in police work in Canada.

RE: Dually tires

You need 1 1/4" screw on metal valve extensions, and a good tire dual head gauge/inflator

RE: Easiest way to fill air to rear tires on dually

The extensions come in 3/4" and 1 1/4". I was going to try 3/4 first but couldn't fine any locally. I ended up buying 1 1/4", and now feel the 3/4 might of been too short. It all depends on the lenght of you tire valve stem. Mine were short to begin with, so 3/4 might not of been long enough to get the inflator on without bending and stressing the valve stem.

RE: Easiest way to fill air to rear tires on dually

I used 11/4" extensions and a Milton S-516 inflator. Works great but make sure you get the metal extensions and not the plastic ones. I used extensions made by "Slime", they are pretty well sealed at the end when not in use, so there no need for a valve cap.
They were only about 5 bucks for 4.
Getting them screwed on the valves is another issue. If you can get your hand between the dually's it's easy, but if you can't it's hard to get them started and then tighted up.
What I did was buy an extra package of 4 and then tightly screwed 3 or 4 of them onto each other, that gives you the length to reach in inside wheel through the hole in your outside rim. Leave the last one loosely tighted. Once you get the extension screwed on, turn them counterclockwise, and the tight ones will unscrew, leaving the last one on the valve. Then I took a pair of channel locks, and reached in between the duallies, and snugged up the extension on the valve stem.

RE: dmax fuel economy problem

Some oil change places put 10/30 in everything. That is good for your 1975 Chevy, but wrong for most other late model vehicles. It sure wouldn't be right for a diesel.
If it started right after the oil change, that would be a clue.

RE: Diesel Truck Oil Change . . . where?

I change my oil and filters also. It's easy with a 4x4 and Fumoto Valve. I only use the Fleetguard filters(Cummins)oil and fuel filters. I changed the oil at 10,000 miles last time, along with the fuel filter. I don't have to jack the truck up being 4x4, I just slide under there, and drain the oil into the old plastic oil containers saved from the last change, spin off the oil filter and replace it. The fuel filter takes another 5 mins to change.

RE: Inlaws looking at a 2005 f250 6.0L with 17,000 miles

When I bought Dodge/Cummins I had a good deal on a 2004 Ford 6.0 F350 DRW. After careful research I to decided that I didn't want a truck that I was afraid to leave the driveway with. I then narrowed my search to Dodge and Chevy trucks. Glad I did.

RE: air intake

I have the AFE replacement for the stock filter. It is not one of those cone shaped filters. It looks and fits the stock box the same as the stock filter would. I don't know if it makes any improvement, but it is washable and can be re oiled after drying. Probably never need to buy a paper filter again.
