RE: Black Water Tank

Ditto to everyone else.
1. You only need to empty the tank when it is 3/4 full, if you empty with a barely full tank there is no water pressure to flush out the solids that collect at the bottom.
2. Do you have a tank flushing system? I use it to top off the tank before I drain, that way I am sure to get a good flush.
****WARNING**** IF YOU USE YOUR FLUSH TO FILL YOUR TANK UP IT HAS TO BE MONITORED CONSTANTLY OR YOU COULD RUN INTO HUGE PROBLEMS.
I have used a hose to fill the tank through the bowl, this way you can see when it is getting full. Less chance of a expoosion.
3. When my gauges seem funky, not reading right, I flush with a totally full tank twice and that helps to clean the sensors.
4. You need to have a clear fitting to see if you are getting everything out.
5. I have an addition set of valves, the quick connect ones, on the end of each of my waste pipes. They assure that I get no surprises when I take off the waste cap. After one "surprise" you will gladly pay the 15.00 for them.

RE: fresh water valve were is it

The fresh water drain valve on my Laredo is a small nut on a little stub of pipe coming out of the underbelly right under where you fill it.

RE: Colibert Rail Rider for B&W Turnover

Sorry, I didn't see your email sooner. The Colibert Rail Rider was the first hitch that I owned, If you do a search you can probably find my post about it. I don't want to rain on any parades, but I hated it. First off, it did not fit. I had to have the post ground down just to get the thing to slide in. Secondly, it had way too many moving parts and way too much play. It sounded like a bomb going off anytime we hit a bump of any size. I never felt safe wih it and sold it after the delivery trip and went with a Reese slider.
Just my .02. If it works for you, good on ya.Wasn;t for me though.

On Board Fuel

For those of you using gasoline fueled onboard gennys, how do you carry your fuel?
The reason I ask is because I am about to change my system.
Up until now, I have run two plastic 6 gallon marine tanks that sit in my storage pass through. Now before the safety police attack, they are mounted in an aluminum tray that prevents them from moving at all.
The pros are that they can be easily removed and swapped out if something breaks on them (and stuff does, and they are easy to fill.
Cons, they break easily. Even without something hitting them, they break. I was just in a position where I just filled one and put the cap back on, only to have it snap off inmy hand when I snugged it down. Now what o you do? I have an unusable gas tank, full of 6 gallons of gas with no way to carry it. (I had to pour it into a trash can (mine) and then into the other tank which had a manageable crack on the fuel line cap. What a pain. Secondly as they are removable and portable, there is no great venting system for them.
I am planning on having a custom aluminum tank built that will fit in a nice unused portion of my storage area, it is a weird shape, but should give me about 12+ gallons. It is to the right of the large door and is usually where I carry any of the dirtier (sewer stuff) items.
The pros to this system is that is is a permanent mount, will have a filler cap on the outside of the trailer, just like an automobile and will be permanently vented outside.
I will post generous pictures when I am working through the project, but wanted to touch base with others to find out what everyone was doing.

gasoline smell

Came back to my RV. The generator (onan) had stopped and there was a gasoline smell in the coach. Any ideas, I am stumped. My genny is fueled from a marine 6 gallon portable tank in the passthrough storage. It vents into the passthrough so I have noticed a small smell here and there but not like this. And the genny has never stopped.
Help. Thanks.

RE: 5th wheel bathrooms

We have two bathrooms, and I will never buy another trailer WITHOUT them. Our primary bathroom has the toilet enclosed with the sink, vanity and shower in the Master Bedroom.
The second bathroom is in the back and has its own door to the outside as well as one inside. Guests never have to use my crapper, nor would I want them to. I like my throne the way it is. This bathroom has storage, and its own sink and vanity.

RE: Sewer smell...at wit's end!

I am not sure if it will help with your problem or not, but we were having a horrible smell only when moving. It was a reverse pressure on the system and was causing fumes to vent into the compartment and not to the outside. We added the vent toppers that create a suction on the tank and have never had another whiff. I cannot remember the name of the ones I use. If I do I will post it.

RE: ac

I had the same problem, it just became too much of a pain in the butt to shut off this and that, change this to LP and not that, stand on one leg and pray to the electric gods I had not missed anything.
Solution: Sell both gennys and buy an onboard Onan. It may be a bit more money (you can find them gently used) but it is worth it in the long run. One button and I can run everything at once along with my buddies popup.
Good luck.

RE: How to dump two black tanks??

OK Here is what we do. I have a "Y" that connects the front and back drain valves. So I hook everything up at once and connect it to the sewer pipe. The importance is the order. (Keep in mind, I have 5 valves)
1. Dump main (FWD) Black
2. Dump Rear Black
3. Dump Kitchen Grey
4. Dump Shower Grey
5. Dump Rear Grey
Here is my reasoning. It is not that important which black goes first, but the greys I think do matter. After all the black is gone. I close the rear valves. I then flush the kitchen because of the food and stuff that collects in it. Now since the shower is the cleanest and soapiest and has the most volume I use it to flush all the hoses. I feel it comes out with enough force to shoot up the short hose to the back valve. as it makes its way to the sewer. I then hit the tiny back grey to finalize the flush. It seems to work.
To make it easier now that I think about it, and to make it even a better flush try hooking up the "Y" to the back drain and then down to sewer, this will alleviate one hose and the water from the shower will definitely make it up to the back valves.

RE: Slide Stuck Open

In our 326LT the fuse box is right inside the door to the right, near the floor. It is covered by a brown lid.

RE: Matress

Select Comfort and Sleep Number are the same company. Actually it is the Sleep Number Bed by Select Comfort.
Buy one, test one, rent one and you will keep one. We used our stock mattress for one trip and tossed it in the trash. It is a shame that they even install them.
We switched to the Sleep Number and have never looked back. Do your back a favor and spend the extra to get one.
If cash is not a problem, I think they even have a stay cool system that keeps the bed cool even in the hottest of climates. I am not sure about the technology, but it addresses one of the complaints about air chamber beds.
